“You said you were doing it for me,” Lucien laughed this time, as if he’d told an excellent joke, “It’s the logical conclusion”

“Indeed, perhaps this week I’ll learn to tie my shoes on my own,” he said, continuing on his way to see Karina. He was grateful for Heinrich, of course, but his roundabout way of saying what he wanted was as frustrating as it was amusing. Lord knows Heinrich always worked his damnedest to be off-putting.

Undeniably, however, the gentle turn of the knob, the quick peak into Karina’s room, and the playful smile Heinrich shot back at him as if to say “the coast is clear” charmed him. He did this every time they went to see her, no matter the hour or circumstance. He almost let himself imagine pressing a kiss to Heinrich’s lips each time. Lucien followed him in, closing the door gently behind them. She was asleep, as he’d anticipated.

“Your footsteps are louder than you think,” he whispered, “and you must be mindful of it.”

Lucien smiled hearing Heinrich’s huff and waited for him to enter his own field of vision. He had been on his way to see Karina after being gone a few days, though she was likely sleeping now. It was nearly 6 in the morning, but he wouldn’t rest well without seeing his daughter first. Heinrich likely followed thinking the same. The two were partners in mischief, after all.

“You know you can just come with me to see her, like a normal person”

Heinrich pressed Lucien against the back of the door, smirk playing on his lips. The other technically had a meeting to get to, but to hell with that. "Got you now," he bragged, before clashing his lips against Lucien's, leg fitting in between his.

Lucien wrapped his arms around Heinrich’s neck and bit his lover’s lower lip. He was more excited to see him than he cared to admit, though it was probably obvious that Heinrich had been missed. Work or no, this was suddenly the most important meeting Lucien had today.

“Have mercy on my soul,” he whispered.
