Ex'pression College recently hosted a TEDx event in October. The theme for TEDxExpressionCollege was Interactivity and Innovation. We welcomed to the stage 11 speakers to talk on this notion including Roy Tuscany from the High Fives Foundation, Lee Mun Wah, Spencer Nilsen, and Tomas Jech to name a few. Videos from the event were posted last week to the TEDx YouTube channel, but we noticed something interesting happen to one of the talks. It's gone viral. In 6 days, Tomas Jech's talk: Being Insecure has received over 6,700 views - surpassing other speakers by as much as 6,000. I asked Tomas why he thought his talk specifically received so many views and what was his secret trick to getting this many hits and he responded... "As far as the organic-ness of it, I have not made any directed efforts to promote the talk... Many of my friends and colleagues HAVE posted it on facebook and such, and being that the animation industry is very small and hungry, it seemed to spread very quickly throughout. I also am fairly active among students and colleges, so they might have picked up on it quickly. But I haven't solicited any of that activity- in fact I didn't even post it on my facebook. Other than that, I have no idea. I sent it to my mom... maybe she did something... :-P" Well, we don't know what he did or how it happened, but it's pretty awesome. Do yourself a favor, spend 15 minutes with Tomas and see for yourself how he overcame his own insecurity.

This week at Ex'pression College...
As we get ready for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Ex'pression College is mid way through a term which leaves our students busy preparing for their midterms. It's a short week for us here, but you can still see a few cool things happening on, and off campus this week.
Monday in Emeryville:
MGD production shoot on the Green Screen - It's always great to watch people light and shoot on our green screen.
In the Neve recording studio we have overdubs being recorded by World/Latin group, Orpheus Ensemble.
Tuesday in Emeryville:
In Meyer Hall from 7:30pm local indie band, Mad River will be recording a live show in a live sound lab with our Sound Arts students. https://soundcloud.com/madriver
Also on Tuesday we have death metal band, Inferos laying down some tracks in the Neve studio.
Ex'pression College will be closed over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, but there is still plenty to see and do in the Bay Area this weekend. On Saturday you can see a gear demo at local recording studio, Different Fur (owned by Ex'pression Alum, Patrick Brown). The demo is for our alumni and students only, just another perk of being an Ex'pression student. More information can be found on our student site.

This is probably the funniest thing you will see today. Who doesn't love a photoshop project involving replacing bass guitars with large dogs.
"People who play bass with their fingers look like they're tickling hairy dogs." - thanks, Bass Dogs for this amazing work!

“Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
