So many things have changed at home, I’m sorry I couldn’t update the blog except to announce Iris’ passing.

So here’s some news! All mighty Glück is now ten years old and is a happy grump.

Hugs n Kisses enjoys the outside, but not too far off. She’s nine years old now, she’s still cuddly but she often gets lost inside the house, which seems to stress her a little. But she plays and takes the sun with pleasure!

And Pépite (which means Nugget) was a terrible mother and needed to find a more suitable home, so we took her in. She’s absolutely TINY. She’s a little over two years old.

CW Pet death

My cat Iris passed away this morning, her kidneys finally gave up on her. She had a flare up two weeks ago, got all teeth removed because it was bothering her appetite, went back home all good, but yesterday I found her catatonic, growling and hissing, unable to stand. I took her to the vet, who put her back in hospitalization, she had good hopes the perfusion would bring her sodium down, but sadly in the morning she had passed.. seemingly, painlessly.

I'm devastated.

I put a paypal crowdfunding up to help with her last vet bill, and her cremation, and maybe, eventually, a cuddle clone...

Iris has been having ups and downs, and she scared us a lot, but she’s doing amazing now :)

Iris has gained some weight and her blood work is more or less in the norm, so she’s going to keep going through treatment! Now she helps me with my mouse usage :)

So after two months of intensive care, and every day IV, medication and visits three times a week to the vet, Iris has been doing much better!

Her anemia is officially solved (but she’s still going to be getting EPO once a week for a little while). Her weight went down to 2kg100, but she’s now back up at 2kg400 (and she was weighed at 11am after not eating for over 12 hours).

She’s more or less finally using the litter box correctly and has stopped hiding in her carrier. Her potassium levels were solved last week so she’s dropping that med. Appetite is back. Grumpy is back. Purring is back. She doesn’t like the daily IVs but that’s not going away just yet because her kidneys are still failing.

She’ll be back at the doctor Friday. Finally only once a week doc visit, instead of once every two days. We’re gonna do it.

So Iris is going back to the hospital, her numbers are so bad that they can’t be measured. She lost quite a bit of weight because she’s not been eating due to a probable heavy infection (urea gets her nauseous). She’s down to 2kg85 (from 3kg50 ish).

She was in a much worse physical state last February (at a worrying 1kg8) during her first hospitalization, however her numbers are more worrying, because they got worse fast (her last check up was Oct 31st).

The vet clinic isn’t optimistic but they’ll do it all to save her. We’ll know this afternoon after an ultrasound if something is wrong with her kidneys (stones? Inflammation?) and they’re starting the perfusion ASAP.

Iris numbers all cleared ! She rose up to 3.5kg but is back to 3.3kg because of the heat. She’s fully back on track for a long happy life (as long as she gets her medication and special food) :)
