“Shut up, Eli,” He rolled his eyes, his smart ass comments were the last thing they all needed in this circumstances. His hand ran through his hair, “No, it doesn’t really matter either way, they can get through the gates ‘cause we’re on one side and they’re on the other, whether they’re caught off guard ain’t really a contributing factor, it would just mean less causalities.” He crossed his arms over his chest, “We can’t do shit about theirs, our guys have all managed to build up while we’ve been gone, but, tonight, tomorrow mornin’ whatever, bunch of us go out on a run, check out as much as we can when we leave.”
Tumblr media
Eli held his hands up in a mock sense of surrender. “Just sayin’ it was a possibility of bein’ a problem. Wouldn’t be surprised if most of them have weapons on them or might be a little more trigger happy than normal considerin’.” He motioned towards Eric before looking back at Sol. “You know we’re going to do what needs to be done regardless.” Didn’t mean he was going to stop being a pain in Sol’s ass though.

fightsol:
He had called for a group meeting at his home, Eric being on board was the only thing he needed to go through with this. His head tilted to the side, eyeing the male, he still seemed to be a little worse for wear, Sol wasn’t all that convinced he was ready to be out of hospital but here they were and he claimed to be ready. “Alright,” He called out over the hustle and bustle, “Keep y’noise down, fuck me.” His lips turned down at the sides as he turned, pacing the width of the room as he spoke, “Eric’s with us now, y’know the rules, we need someone to go out and grab the rest of the group, bring them back in. We ain’t gonna know them, not straight away, they’re the muscle for now, catch the rest of these people off guard. We avoid killin’ people if we can, as per fuckin’ usual and nobody lays a hand on any women, that ain’t attackin’ you and kids are a big fuckin’ no, no. Eric if you could find a way to keep those people inside, ask Copper or George, that’d be great.”
Tumblr media
Eli didn’t usually say much when it came to plans. He usually just did what was asked of him but he knew that this was a completely different situation. “No offense but it’s the women in this community that scare me.” If the rest of them were anything like Copper, he knew there was going to be a problem. “Are we really bettin’ this whole idea on catchin’ them off guard?” Eli glanced around the room before looking back at Sol. “And what about the armory?”

stcygeorge:
She entered his home, still curled around herself in protection as she looked around. George would usually take in his home, look at every part of it, try to get to know him by looking around, but the design was still pretty much the same, he had various weapons lying around, but nothing else, not really. George let out a small sigh, lips curving into a small smile, it was very Eli, from what she could tell. Following him further into the house, she looked around some more and noticed the candles but still, Eli turned on the light. “You don’t have to do that for me,” She whispered, moving towards him. “Thank you,” George murmured as she stood beside him, her hand reaching out, fingers brushing against his own. Eli didn’t seem like the type to appreciate touch but she wanted him to know that she wasn’t thanking him for inviting her for dinner, not exactly.
Tumblr media
"Yeah, I do.” There wasn’t much arguing when it came to that, or at least, not on Eli’s part there wasn’t. George went out of her way to make him feel welcomed and the least he could do was try to comfort her when she needed it. Eli looked down when her fingers brushed his, causing him to make the bold move on lacing their fingers together before he pulled her closer, his free arm moving around her.

George wasn’t expecting to eat tonight, she would have just gone home and curled up under the sheets, but Eli’s offer was nice enough that George couldn’t be impolite. His touch sent a shiver up her spine and she looked up at him, a small smile tugging on her features as she allowed him to guide her towards his place, “Thanks…” She breathed, shaking her head towards his question. She was suddenly overcome with the urge to do what she had only privately fantasized about since meeting Eli, but even in her state, George couldn’t bring herself to do anything so spontaneous, she would never be that kind of woman.
Eli shook his head at her gratitude, “You don’t have to thank me. You fed me when you didn’t have to.” He gave her a soft smile before finally entering his home. The place was still dimly lit, the only light happened to be candles but he found himself flicking the light switch on anyway. “Make yourself at home and all that.” He didn’t know why he felt the need to be around George in that moment or why he wanted to so badly comfort her. Maybe it had to do the fact that she had been kind to him even when he didn’t deserve it.

stcygeorge:
George had hoped, after her night with Eli, that she would see more of him. But then this had happened and she’d kept herself to herself, sneaking out before anybody could see her, or talk to her, so much so that he’d almost slipped her mind. That was, until he spoke, and his voice, that voice, it seemed to vibrate to her core and she let out a defeated sigh, turning to face him and nodding slowly. The girl moved towards him, curling one arm around her frame as if to hold herself together as she looked him over, “N–no,” She near enough whispered.
Tumblr media
Eli gave a nod of his head as she spoke before he motioned back towards the houses. “Come on. I’ll make you something to eat.” He didn’t think he’d be offering her this during a stressful time but now seemed just about as good as any. He hesitantly placed a hand along the small of her back to guide her back to his place. “Any special requests?”

stcygeorge:
She had never been one to take on patrol, but George had spent the past few days avoiding everyone and anyone. She’d barely seen Eric, unable to wrap her head around what had happened, had barely seen her own sister, dreading the thought of seeing her so broken down. But George had taken comfort in knowing that the pair of them had others around them that could comfort them when she couldn’t. The girl busied herself, unsure as to why considering there was somebody in here, someone who had hurt Eric, perhaps this was her way of dealing, so very similar to Copper’s – avoiding the matter altogether. Now, she locked up the gate, knowing nobody was coming in and nobody was heading out that night and handed the keys to the other man she’d been on patrol with.
Tumblr media
Eli wasn’t very good at this whole comforting thing. People lived, people died, and shitty things happened. It was the way the world was now and it was something that he had grown accustomed to but that wasn’t the case for anyone. When George came into view, he found himself letting out a soft sigh as he finally moved to approach her. “Done for the night?” He asked although he could probably answer that question himself. “Eaten anything yet?”

Sol stared ahead, usually he’d find some dark amusement in how rapidly this situation had progressed but Eric could have been killed and that didn’t seem to be funny at all. He wiped a hand down his face and let out a long sigh, “They’re fuckin’ crazy alright.”
"They’re more than just crazy. They’re unraveling.” It had been a long time since Eli had watched a group turn in on itself. No one knew who to trust  and they were looking for someone to blame. Eli let out a heavy sigh as he looked at his leader, “What’s the plan?”

"Are we going to pretend like the people out there ain’t batshit crazy?” Maybe now wasn’t the time but even Eli was on edge with the news. Trying to take one of them out was one thing -- they were strangers. Taking one of your own out was a completely different story. “Like they ain’t one screw loose from starting a riot in here or worse?” @fightsol

stcygeorge:
She smiled again, drying the plates that he’d placed in front of her, doing the same with the cutlery and cups, watching him while he worked and trying not to truly enjoy how his muscles contracted and moved in his arms. What had gotten into her? George turned, leaning back against the counter, blushing once again as he spoke, “Yeah,” The girl breathed, “That’d be nice.”
Eli noticed things even when he acted like he didn’t. He noticed that when she smiled it was like her whole face lit up. It wasn’t fake but genuine. The world, the community, and whatever else didn’t seem to have the impact of taking that away from her. He also noticed the color on her cheeks and he couldn’t help but wonder if he was the reason for that. “I know how to cook a thing or two,” Eli responded, a light smile on his lips as he looked at her. “Probably can’t cook as good as you but...” His voice trailed off for a moment, “If...you ever don’t feel like cooking you can just...come over or something.”

stcygeorge:
George chuckled, blushing a bright pink as she looked away from him. At least he was honest in his response and George chose to believe that if Eli truly didn’t want to be here, he wouldn’t and he definitely wouldn’t be finding any excuse to stay. She watched him for a short while, biting on her lower lip, “Thank you,” She murmured, stepping aside, grabbing a towel to dry with. “Thank you…” She repeated, “For keeping me company, too… This was nice.”
Eli couldn’t put his finger on exactly why he had decided to stick around. Maybe it was due to the fact that George was easy company. She didn’t try to force him to be other than how he was and she didn’t mind silence. Being around here was just simple, easy. He looked up while handing her a plate before nodding his head, “You’re welcome.” Eli had never really been this pleasant with anyone. He never offered any thank yous or you’re welcomes nor did he ever offer to do something he didn’t have to do like washing dishes and yet, there he was. “It was.” That managed to bring about another shadow of a smile as he looked back down at the last few dishes to wash, “It could, uh, happen again. Maybe. If you want.”

George gave him a small smile, moving towards her sink to rinse off the plates, “You don’t have to… If you don’t want to,” The girl murmured, turning to face him, suddenly hyperaware of the small distance between the two of them. Her cheeks flushed and she immediately looked down, “I just mean – you don’t have to stay if… you’re uncomfortable.”
"Just because I’ve been outside for nine years doesn’t mean I don’t know how to wash a plate.” That at least got a small smile out of his as he reached out, motioning for her to step out of the way. “Going to be uncomfortable no matter where I’m at.” He knew some of the others probably felt the same. It was a shock to see others living as good as they were. Even knowing that a place like this existed was probably a shock to the system but, Eli of course, was the one that was going to take a while to get used to it all. “Still some manners in me. Might want to take me up on the offer before I change my mind.”

Her features dropped when he spoke and she let out a small sigh, rubbing her hands over her knees before pushing herself up and collecting their plates, “You’re really – no bother at all, but I understand if you want to leave, thank you for keeping me company.”
He watched as her features dropped which only seemed to confuse him more as she began busying herself with picking up the plates. He rubbed his lips together as he glanced around before he found himself standing, hands reaching to take the plates from her. “I’ll help you clean up before I go.”

"I can tell." Most around the community seemed to be too chatty for Elis liking. Granted, even if they weren't, Eli still probably would have been more comfortable on his own but for one reason or another, he found himself more comfortable in George's presence which was still saying something. Eli took on a breath after moment, "I should still probably go. Get out of your hair."
existeli:
The whole situation was odd to Eli and while he would never truly relax, he didn’t feel so tense the longer he sat there with George. She wasn’t talking his ear off like most probably would and he found a bit of solace within the silence. He focused on his food, managing to steal a few glances at George every now and again. He wondered if he would ever stop being curious about her and the kind nature that came easily to her. It was rare in this world and a part of him wondered if anything would be able to snuff it out and a part of him, as shocking as it was, hoped nothing would. He cleared his throat after a moment, resting his fork on the plate. “Thank you.” He words came out quieter than he intended as his gaze lifted although almost hesitantly. “Not…not just for this. Just…you’re easy to be around.”
They finished up their meals and George only looked up at him again when Eli addressed her directly, her lips curving into a smile as she did her best not to let her gaze linger on him for too long. “Any time,” She murmured, “It’s… nice to have you here, company… Not everybody enjoys a comfortable silence around here.”

stcygeorge:
She watched him for a moment or two, still offering the same warm smile as she took in his appearance. He was still rugged, slightly dirty, almost animalistic and yet still strikingly handsome. She found herself learning the lines of his face before realising how strange her assessments must have been or at least, how uncomfortable they could have made her already awkward guest. George tucked in, hungrier than she had realised but still more interested in her company and the unfamiliarity of him sitting where he did. He looked out of place in her home, did he belong anywhere? Somehow, in the midst of her daydreams, her gaze had drifted towards his lips, watching as they moved to accommodate the meal she had cooked, suddenly overcome with the urge to know how they felt. George shook off the strange direction of her thoughts, her cheeks heating as she looked anywhere but at him for the following few moments.

stcygeorge:
She smiled once again, more so to herself as she began to prepare the two of them some dinner. George wondered if Copper would be home, deciding probably not since she had been spending most of her time at the hospital looking after her John Doe, but she made enough for her regardless. It wasn’t long before she was setting a plate in front of Eli before sliding into her own seat, “S’more if you want it…”
George was confusing to Eli. Hell, the whole community was confusing to Eli. He wasn’t used to someone offering him anything and while he was well aware that was George’s thing, it still left him feeling a bit curious and even maybe a little on edge. Eli pressed his lips together watching as George set the plate in front of him before sitting in her own seat. “No,” he said with a shake of his head. “This is...this is good. Really.”
