cain slaying abel — pier francesco mola, ca. 1650–52
the boyful envy of a brother for his Mother's attention; what else is there to note but how a man is so easily turned back to childhood when faced with jealousy?
"Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” - genesis 4:9

the rebuke of adam and eve — charles joseph natoire, 1740
natoire puts a sensual twist on the depiction of the rebuke of adam and eve. note the soft, plush skin of eve, her rosy cheeks which house a single glistening tear; note the sharpness of adam's features, his musculature clad with rough skin. lay your eyes upon the tail of the sly serpent, making its exit unknown as its nature. note, also, eve laying plush against the ram, a symbol both of the destruction of their obedience to God as soon as that fruit had been consumed, and of the very first sacrifice made by the Lord: to kill, so that adam and eve may be clothed after their subsequent shameful awakening.
"Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created." - genesis 5:2

Proverbs 4:23
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Wanted to make a cool and symbolic thing, but to my detriment; my apple pencil is broken and I have to use my fingers, which I am not used to. The drawing is very meh, but I anticipate they’ll gets better over time
@ex-eden
I like this proverb, it’s relevant to a thing I’m goin through rn, so I found it fitting to post it first
The heart really is a lot like a fire aint it? It keeps you warm but it can burn and hury you too

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑱𝒂𝒄𝒐𝒃.
This verse symbolizes the Lord's commitment to protect His creations until the very end of time.
It implies that He is always with us, wherever we go and whatever we do, He will be watching over us to keep humanity safe from any source of harm or temptation.
Bringing us back to this land means that we will be one with Him eternally in paradise once we've concluded our mission on Earth.

the spirit of god hovering over the waters — jan brueghel the younger, est. 1650
brueghel displays the literalized metaphor of god hovering over the waters—the spirit of god is actively present over, and watching over, the formless, chaotic earth, prepared to bring life to it through more acts of creation; this "hovering" action a symbol of the motherly nature of god's love, prepared to fulfill his promise of care for the "earth" that is to come.
"The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." - genesis 1:2
