Growing up the way she had, Sojin had easily become savvy to the looks that people would give her, them cutting much more deeply as a child when she didn’t understand their cruelty. As she aged, and the looks turned more from disgust of her near squatter status to fear, the woman never hiding what she could do, she grew more acquainted with them, until they stopped bothering her altogether. Being the bigger person kind of came with the territory of healing others –holding any kind of prejudice or resentment that could keep her from doing her job to the fullest extent that she could was an awful, evil thing to do. So when the judging gaze of the man fell upon her, she neither flinched, nor returned it. Bottom line, why let it bother her? Some people were just more naturally guarded.
A kindly smile grew instead when he mentioned remembering her, the woman just honestly glad that she wasn’t imagining a face in her memories where it didn’t exist. That situation where one would call out a greeting to a friend, just to find out it was a lookalike from behind or something, was an embarrassing one she was honestly glad that she didn’t have to go through, even though something like that only made her seem mildly crazy for a few moments, rather than any other, much worse impression. Like who knew if he regarded her well for what had happened back then?
She couldn’t honestly tell with his rather quiet nature, Sojin not sure if that was a current observation, or if she recalled it from days past. Even with the closed off way he handled her, she found it rather charming, if only for the fact that he regarded her so awkwardly when she hopefully wouldn’t do something to cause him grief. Well, she wouldn’t try to, but who knew?
Stepping forward, she smiled again at him and asked, “I never could have imagined that I’d see you again. I’m ever so glad you’re alright. That did heal right, didn’t it?” A spot of worry colored her features, but it stayed mild and calm, like she had been trained to do. And while he had shaken his head when she asked if anything was wrong currently, she realized that even after all of those years, he must have always been quiet. People who lived like she assumed he did just naturally seemed to blend into the shadows, and she could understand the survival instinct of that, though it made it rather hard to have a conversation with them.
Back then, the herbalist she worked for asked her to keep her powers a secret, but she wondered now if their freakish powers had drawn them together. She never could have guessed that there were others like her, and even after a few weeks of knowing about the Circus, it still hadn’t sunk in that she wouldn’t have to hide who she was anymore. “Are you staying here?” She asked kindly, thinking back to the ‘you may never leave’ clause of joining. Even if he was just passing through, it was nice to see him again.
Remembered \\ Sojin x Seunghyun
The tip of his sneaker dug into the ground of dirt underneath his feet as he stood on the dead soil. Seunghyun was slightly glad that he didn’t have to unpack considering the fact that they were leaving pretty soon— and it’s not like he attended his shows anyways. What was the point? So he could show off how he could suddenly catch a bunch of knives coming after him?! Wow, so exciting! Literally smirking and rolling his eyes for a BRIEF moment, the older male sighed loudly as he turned to look up at his shared tent. He hadn’t met the man that was supposedly working in the same tent, not that he minded much. Actually, that’s great. The less people he knew the better. It’s different when he was alone in all honesty. When he was by himself he’d make faces and mumble many things out-loud - even maybe talk to himself just to remember what his voice sounded like. There was one thing he never, ever did though. That was smile. To get him to smile was to shove a large pair of fake teeth in his mouth that stretched out his lips an cheeks. Some thought he was heartless— which, in a way was true… but not so much. He cared. To an extent. Examining his mot least favorite color of a tent, Seunghyun groaned at it while turning away. ‘It would’ve been much better if it was pink…’ he thought to himself while going back to mindlessly kicking at the ground again. The male was such a big kid that did the most childlike things, most were just too blind to even realize it. But that’s when the sudden voice startled him and nearly sent his heart racing a mile a minute. His posture becoming seemingly more uncomfortably as he ever so slowly turned his head to meet the woman’s, Seunghyun’s body stiffened once he realized who it was. The memory mentally smacked him in the face. It was kind of a silly thing it was. He recalled going to her shop around the early days of being homeless. Somehow along the way he remembered his arm scratching against a barbed wire, so there was a thick, nasty gash that literally dripped from how much blood he was losing. The man was there, stealing her replies as she came up to him and asked worriedly about the wound— just like she was now. He never got caught. She didn’t even realize. In fact, he even let her help. "…. Yeah, I remember you…" he said in a low voice while allowing his body to chill out a bit. Furrowing his brows while peering down at the woman with a judge-filled gaze, Seunghyun’s head tilted slightly to the side as he listened to the words that flow from between her lips. He gave a gentle shake of his head once she mentioned his uncomfortable-like-state. It was something natural that he just simply couldn’t help. ‘Silly girl,’ he thought to himself while pulling both hands behind his back, quietly staring at her with nothing to say.

Remembered \\ Sojin x Seunghyun
Okay, becoming nocturnal was going to be much harder than she had first anticipated. When she had first arrived at the Midnight Circus, she knew full well what the schedule would likely be like for a place that only opened at night, and she could have sworn that it wouldn’t be as difficult to adapt to as many others would have thought. However, when she found herself wide awake in the middle of the day –the “middle of the night” to everyone else- she could only groan as she rolled around on her cot. For someone who had grown up with so much less, this felt unbearable on her back and neck, Sojin furiously running through the types of herbs to abate stiffness in the hopes that it would lull her back to sleep like a song. Of course, it didn’t work, and she wound up sitting up in bed with a quiet sigh.
Rolling her neck, and cringing at the painful crack, she stood to dress herself, Sojin not wanting to stick around in case her antics woke her seemingly exhausted tent mates. God knew if she had worked steadfastly all night like the rest of them that she’d likely be out like a light as well. Spectating didn’t exactly wear one out, though, so she found herself the unfortunate victim of insomnia, like she had switched time zones to one across the world.
Sighing in annoyance, she decided to head for the medical tent, to see how the supplies ranked for the two weeks she’d be powerless. Sojin wouldn’t gain her abilities to grow anything helpful until the ninth of July, a fact that frustrated her to no end considering the position allotted to her had a hard pair of shoes to fill.
Nerves filled her stomach, as her mind absently traced over the herbs she would want to grow on the Home Island, since they’d be a week gone from Gwangju by the time she could grow things again. Mint and passionflower came to mind, if only due to her own inability to sleep, but thoughts of sorrel, elderberries, garlic, certainly aloe vera for sunburn, and marigold, certainly…
Her train of thought cut out as she walked by a tent colored a rather strange shade of purple, her lips pulling down into a frown as she noticed another person out and about at this strange time. Was he new, too? Or did he have issues sleeping? The familiar urge to aid others tightened in her chest and she headed for him, Sojin speaking up in a soft voice so she wouldn’t frighten him. “Excuse me, are you alright?” But the moment she got a good look at his features, she stopped dead in her tracks, memory scrambling to recall what she remembered him from.
“You…you’ve come into my store before!” She stared at him, surprised so much so that she used the incorrect tense with the store, “You had hurt yourself…and you looked so uncomfortable.” Sympathy welled up in her and she stepped up to his side, eyes completely soft as she examined him, Sojin fighting off the urge to repeat her initial question. If he was hurt, he’d tell her, right? She was supposed to be the new main healer… “I can help you if you’re uncomfortable in some way! I can’t believe you’re here too…” And she didn’t even know his name! What a weird world…
