Touchstone features the return of Virginia Currin, along with Dan Currin and Emile Ward. The style and feel of the album is morose meets angry at times, and the addition of Virginia on vocals and bass brings Pelican Ossman to their early roots...a bit more aggressive, dark, and even 80's at times. Sometimes you put coats on a wall, to hide wallpapers that are no longer sufficient. The world has many coats, but these coats are different. The world's coats are segments of time that don't correspond transparently to truth. These coats that are not so good, and we must shed these coats.

DISXIPLE_113 Untitled.  [EON 028] C35 Cassette

DISXIPLE_113 is the brainchild of Jon Simon aka Montgomery Word, and is a texturally diverse lofi techno/electro/house collage of vintage drum machines, modular synths, and cassettes. Teetering on the edges of quite a few different genres of electronic music, the pieces are dark, yet with weight, and steady. Each track carries influences by polyrythmic giants such as Philus, Plastikman, etc. Simon’s use of 12bit drum machines from yesteryear definitely sets the mood as grimy, but as with his other releases, keeps melody close at hand. Disxiple_113 is sure to make even the most ennui listener happy once again.

Don Gero aka Zach D’agostina can be found nearly any night in Portland sweating over a drum set in some dark basement alongside his modular synth. To see his performance is something that is very hard to explain, since it’s simplicity in nature is supremely misleading. He triggers his synth melodies via the drum set, yes, yet the final product is something else completely. Think almost of a one-man-Boredoms, or some old punk project meshed with something seriously heavier. I don’t even know. Let your ears decide. Don Gero’s Weirding is a wonderfully powerful and inspiring cassette for your listening pleasure.
