DISCLAIMER:ㅤㅤThis is my personal interpretation of the Exorcist lore for worldbuilding & character development purposes. It serves as a reference for my portrayal but can absolutely be adjusted, reworked, or discarded depending on writing partners, thread context, or evolving headcanons,

There are two distinct ‘waves’ of Exorcists. The project was a desperate response, a rushed creation of weapons before the enemy [ Hell ] could grow too bold,

The first waveㅤ[ the ones we see in the Hazbin trailer ]ㅤwere avian, erratic & less humanoid; a small, short-lived division quietly buried by Heaven's upper ranks ( only a few higher-ups, like Sera, still acknowledge it ever existed; only barely ). They were designed hastily in response to Hell’s growing infection & were monstrous things that not only slaughtered, but devoured demons [ sinners & hellborn alike ] mirroring real life vultures & crows. Each one was modeled directly after Lute [ see above ] — identical in structure, echoing her mannerisms, instincts, & bloodthirst down to the letter, hence even the identical masks. All they knew was one directive: purge on sight,

The first wave’s behavior was volatile, with Lute at its center; fresh from the simulation, she was feral with purpose — her movements twitchy, body language sharp, almost animalistic, near non-verbal, driven by instinct rather than discernment. Her judgment was fragmented, but her obedience & loyalty was absolute to a fault [ which carries on even now ]. She followed orders better than others with terrifying precision, often interpreting silence as command; the only presence that tempered her was Adam’s. To contain her, Heaven initiated a series of resets: stripping reflex protocols, enforcing obedience reconditioning & isolating her from command structures until her volatility could be managed. Lute was reshaped into something usable & this reconditioning period helped to develop the second wave,

The second waveㅤ[ the current Exorcists we have in the series ]ㅤ are more refined, standardized, compact, designed for speed, precision, & aerial combat within Hell’s terrain; made for clean & efficient elimination. Though still uniform in shape, the second wave shows slightly more variety; their hourglass frames aren’t exactly intentional, but rather softened variations of the original design [ Lute's ] but still stripped of excess individuality. They don’t fight for survival, which is why there’s no regard for their own safety, no fear, no hesitation; their combat style lacks nuance because they weren’t designed to fight smart ( a reference to Carmilla telling Vaggie that she ‘fights like she’s unafraid of harm’ )
