Ive never really met anyone that thought of ribs as interesting… that’s such a shame. Ribs and the things they do are fascinating…. I think about them everyday.

I need to cut up chunks of the Every Body documentary for tumblr. One of the things I've been seeing a lot of on here is queer people being skeptical about intersex medical abuse. Every Body has clips from a 90s international intersex meet-up where these people are describing the surgeries they were forced into at like. Age 8 and stuff. I've seen some trans ppl saying things like "well thats extreme malpractice and they'd get in trouble for that so there's no way that's happening" and its like. There are real faces behind these stories. We are real human beings really being medically ripped apart.
It also has a lot of interview clips from David Reimer. His face broke my heart. Knowing what I know about him after reading that book about him last term and then seeing his broken, beaten down face is awful. But the fact that he also took the time in that interview to speak on intersex medical abuse. The fact that you could see how much it hurt him to know what was done to him became the blueprint of what is happening to intersex infants. It hurt so bad but he was so fucking genuinely brave and strong for giving the interviews he did before ending his life. He said himself that he was speaking up to try to prevent anyone from going through this anymore.
Every Body is an amazing documentary that follows three intersex activists and their stories, and it's packed with relevant info. Had video interviews of John Money, even. And the whole thing was so queer positive and all the interview subjects were some sort of genderqueer or trans on top of being intersex.
One thing that killed me was telling Bambi at the start of it about a time I got caught in pre-k standing up to piss despite having a vulva and the pre-k teacher screamed at me and left a long note on my backpack for my parents. I was terrified. My parents never fucking said A WORD about it. I realized recently maybe that's bc I had a clitoral reduction like my scars indicate and they were freaked that I think I'm a "boy." Then someone in a clip from the 90s intersex meet up mentioned getting caught standing to piss and getting in trouble and it hit me like a fucking bus. I genuinely can't believe I made that memory connection right before an intersex person from 20 years ago said the same exact thing.

things we need to address:
gen z men getting pulled into alt-right pipelines through andrew tate, joe rogan, elon musk, jordan peterson etc
the gullibility and stupidity of half the country voting against our collective best interests
the broad effect social media has on public and common good
lazy minds and lack of empathy
outside-country interference (trump and elon’s connections to russia and the amount of bots from other countries spreading misinformation)
the long-term effects of AI and rampant disinformation

To all the trans people who see this tonight, no matter what happens, we will survive. Trans people will still be here 4 years from now and 10 years from now and 100 years from now and tomorrow. We have always existed and we always will. The world cannot unlearn about us; we are too public, too loud, too beloved, too present. Ill be here tomorrow. Please stay here with me.
