Seeing people try to defend the lack of racial/ethnic diversity on Tumblr is... wow. So let me share a reminder: It used to be better! Still dominantly white, but better than what it is now, at least. Then everyone got tired of the "blackouts" and other mostly Black-led conversations around racism because it was "ruining their fandom fun" or something idk and quite literally chased out so many bloggers of colour through harassment campaigns from the user-base and massive staff-led blog purges. This was not even that long ago, btw.

I can think of so many beloved mutuals who had to leave this site for their mental health because they just couldn't take it anymore.

Tumblr deserves every shred of criticism it gets for being so white after all that.

Nour ( @noor508 ) is the father of two children. His youngest was born during the genocide and is only a few months old. Nour and his wife, Dina, have been struggling to provide the care and nutrition their baby needs. Diapers, formula, and baby food are in limited supply and can only be bought at exorbitant prices.

His family created a gofundme to raise the money they'd need to help with food and baby supplies, but gofundme paused the transfers and eventually shut down their campaign. Since then, Nour has been collecting funds through Andrea's (@/roadimusprime) paypal so Andrea can transfer the funds to Nour's bank account.

Nour's family lost a lot of the donations they received when their fundraiser was terminated. Since switching to paypal, donations have been coming in slower than before. Nour, Dina, and their children are barely scraping by.

Please donate if you have the means and share to help Nour's campaign reach more people.

One of the first victims of Epstein to speak out was a Latina transgender girl, Ava Cordero. She was sixteen when she was lured to Epstein’s apartment under the guise of helping her career in modeling. Ava Cordero was mocked, belittled, and denied by the media, her transness somehow overshadowing her status as a victim of assault. The media (Dareh Gregorian and Lucy Carne of the New York Post) specifically somehow spun it as Epstein being a victim of the case and treated her claims as an attempt to defame Epstein. Mind you, the journalists, Epstein’s lawyer (Gerald Lefcourt), and Epstein himself, were able to get away with this specifically because she was a transgender woman.

hey! i can answer this!

basically, most if not all gaza fundraising was happening on gofundme simply due to name recognition and brand trust. however, gofundme quickly proved itself to be actively complicit in the genocide through its targeting of palestinian fundraisers for deletion and suppression.

my own friend siraj lost over $27,000 he had painstakingly raised over several months when gofundme arbitrarily declared his previously verified fundraiser fraudulent. he instantly lost access to food and housing for his entire family and has not been able to regain that progress since.

by contrast, chuffed has basically never given gaza fundraisers any problems. it actively promotes palestine-related fundraisers on its front page.

chuffed has also been used by the sameer project, crips for esims for gaza, and other palestine orgs for over a year now. after a particularly bad wave of deletions (of which siraj was a victim) people began migrating their fundraisers to chuffed, and it's become the go-to host site for new crowdfunding campaigns.

so if you see a fundraiser on chuffed, that's why!
