In no particular order, here are what I think your staples would probably be:

A pair of black slacks - low waisted, to bring attention away from hips. They also go with almost every outfit. If you can’t find black, a coffee or tan colour would work too.

Tweed trousers - look fantastic with a black poloneck and long overcoat. I really feel they bring a dramatic flair to an outfit.

Large polo necks - these can be a little tricky, as polo neck jumpers can cling your chest. However, a thicker material and larger size should fix this issue. Colour wise, I’d go with black, dark grey, tan, burgundy, or forest green. Avoid white, as it may cling or show a binder through it.

Cable knit jumpers - great at hiding a chest, very cozy, and perfect for the aesthetic. These can be worn on their own, or with a button up shirt beneath them for an extra scholarly look.

Oxfords/brogues - two different types of dress shoe that are traditionally worn by men. They finish off a DA outfit in a very classy way, and their pointed toe gives the illusion of larger feet. Never underestimate the power of a classy pair of shoes. Go with dark brown for daytime, black for more professional events.

Button down shirts - a crumpled white button down is obviously a DA staple, but you can really get creative with these sorts of items. Cotton is great, but you can play around this other materials too. This can also be where you can inject pattern into your wardrobe, as I would recommend keeping everything else listed in block colour. A black floral shirt can inject an androgynous touch to your outfit, while a striped shirt makes it look more interesting and appears to flatten your chest. However, I would highly recommend avoiding flannel.

Long overcoat - Another staple of the DA genre, and I feel like everyone is looking for their perfect coat. I’d recommend getting this in dark grey, black, or tan, to ensure it goes with all of your outfits. A long overcoat also flatters your body shape, hiding any curves and making your shoulders look broader.

Tweed blazer - hard to find, but very much worth it. Bonus points if it has elbow patches and shoulder pads.

Satchel - a weathered old men’s satchel is perfect for carrying around your books and school supplies.

I know you made a fashion suggestion for a boy for dark academia, but I'm more feminine person and I like more girly clothes, is there any suggestions you have for somebody who wants a more feminine appearance and to still dress dark academia? As in a way to start a new wardrobe, or maybe a new closet? They don't have to be too girly, but maybe with a girl in mind this time? If that's okay that is, thank you!

This is the perfect ask! I’m usually a very feminine person too, so I’ll list a few off the basic things you’ll need to start off your dark academia wardrobe.

Blouses: blouses are now your best friend, and I’d recommend buying many of them. White silk makes for a classic DA aesthetic, while other colours (perhaps a burgundy, or a beige) can bring a little colour to your outfit, as DA fashion has a tendency towards monochrome. Another thing I’d recommend is not limiting yourself to just collared blouses! A ruffled high neck blouse, either in white or an appropriate pattern, can really add a touch of grace to your outfit, extenuating the length of your neck. Don’t be afraid of puffy sleeves, as these can really inject a touch of Romanticism into your look.

Poloneck jumpers: polonecks are really the DA hill I will die on, and are essential when starting off your wardrobe. Black is a classic, but I’d recommend buying several shades, including cream, beige, tan, and perhaps burgundy. When worn with a delicate necklace, they create a very feminine academic aesthetic.

Tweed mini-skirts: these are fanastic due to their versatility. They can be worn with both plain blouses and polonecks, and really add the scholarly feel to your look, while still being feminine. If tweed is difficult to find, buying a plain black skirt will also work.

Dresses: getting into DA fashion doesn’t mean abandoning dresses! It just means adjusting the styles and patterns you wear. A dark floral dress can go a long way when paired with the right jewellery and shoes. Try to avoid buying dresses that are too short - they tend to look more appropriate for nightclubs than wandering your local gothic library. I’d recommend keeping at least one dark floral dress in your wardrobe as you start off.

Brogues: brogues are such a versatile shoe, and can be paired with most of the items previously mentioned. A delicate tan brogue perfectly sets off an otherwise dark outfit, and has almost boarding school vibes. These will be your go-to shoes for daytime wear.

High heels: a pair of heeled boots will also accompany a DA outfit perfectly, but you need to be very selective with how you pair them. I would recommend only wearing heeled boots while also wearing a long overlayer, during the daytime. Low heeled mary-jane pumps can achieve a similar effect without the need for an overlayer. At night, or while attending important events, I’m sorry to say that an almond toe stiletto heel pump is where you should be looking. These are painful to wear, but really add grace and femininity to any outfit. Avoid platform stilettos, as they don’t look nearly as classy.

Overcoat: no DA wardrobe is complete without the famous overcoat. For women, this is a slightly more flexible item - while black is an obvious choice, tweed overcoats also look fantastic with an otherwise block-coloured outfit. Tan, beige, or even burgundy/claret are all choices you could go with, depending on personal taste.

Long cardigans: perfect for slightly cozier days, a long cable knit cardigan in any of the above colours goes wonderfully with a poloneck/blouse + skirt combo.

Velvet blazer: a slightly harder item to find, but a long crushed velvet blazer adds a real vampiric element to your wardrobe. Black is fine, but bonus points if you can find one in a very dark claret.

That’s all I can think of for now, but I hope some of these tips are helpful!

To the people saying that you can’t compare Seungri’s situation to Hanbin’s situation: 

Fuck you, yes we can. 

Because we aren’t comparing the crime. We aren’t comparing prostitution to thinking about drugs. We are comparing how they were defended by the company they put hard work into. 

Kim Hanbin, who is a 22 year old kid basically, had his contract terminated within four hours of his scandal hitting. Hanbin RAN AWAY because of it, he was missing no doubt because he knows YG isn’t on his side. The scandal being about THINKING of taking drugs but never going through with it. He was a scared 19-year-old kid at this time, his company was offering no help to his mental state and despite all this, he still had the strength to say no. His company, who put in so much work for, offered him no defence. After his contract was terminated, he was removed from all iKOn related promotions. 

Seungri, who is a grown ass man and has been in the industry since 2005, was exposed for soliciting prostitutes, possible embezzlement, sharing and viewing non-consensual porn (which is rape by the way). It took the company two months before they let Seungri go, which even after, they still continued to promote his things, he dragged down four other members with him and dragged down BigBang’s name and brought down the companies stocks (which has multiple other artists underneath it). 

The defence for them was bullshit. Seungri was hard-wired with lawyers and YG fighting tooth and claw to keep him while Hanbin was thrown under the bus because YG is protecting his own ass. You can see where YG’s priorities lie, the same man who tore his wife’s group apart so he could date her. YG would watch the entire company burn before he lets anything bad happen to Bigbang because they are his paycheck. I hope when the other members come back, they get out of YG no matter what if there’s no new management. 

YG is toxic and he just destroyed himself. If you still defend Seungri and say that the two situations aren’t comparable, I don’t care, Hanbin was never protected and that’s sickening.

As someone who has been living with severe suicidal ideation my entire life I wanna tell you all something, you don’t have to stay alive for yourself. People will say it’s a bad idea to live for external things because they’re temporary, and it’s true living for yourself is ideal but if you’re not to that point yet that’s ok too. 

I’ve lived for my dog for the past 4 years, before that I lived for my snakes, before that I lived for my cat. You can live for whatever needs you and whatever matters to you. You guys, BigHit is trying to tell us that the girl in BTS’ most recent Vlive was a staff member. Not a saesang. I’m honestly so done with BigHit trying to cover up their faults. They suck when it comes to protecting the boys. And some ARMY’s are starting to believe it was a staff member. No! Guys come on!!!

There are many reasons why I don’t trust BigHit, and especially not this time.

First: Why would a staff member peek into the boys’ room during a Vlive? Would they not have been informed they were doing one? Were they just checking in? Ok, then why would they be filming it? It was obvious a girl looked in and had a phone in her hand, filming them.

Second: There is a picture of the girl from behind that her friend took of her. If she was staff, why have another “staff” member take a picture of you filming the boys secretly from outside the room?

Third: There is a selfie that all four saesang girls took in the bathroom. Covered their faces with emojis of animals (looks like each representing their bias) and they don’t look anything like staff. More like some teenage girls taking a mirror selfie.

Fourth: There is another picture of the girl that filmed them, it looks like she collapsed out of relief and laughter and the thrill of doing what she did. (I can’t find that picture now, but there’s this one)

Fifth: How many times has BTS been grabbed and their personal space invaded? How many videos do we have to prove that BigHit doesn’t have enough or good enough security for them?

I know that celebrities always have this to worry about. And almost every celebrity has been grabbed by a fan. But in all of my years, all the celebrities I’ve seen. Not one has had as bad encounters as BTS. The security usually get there before the fan reaches the celebrity…..well, not in BTS’ case.

Now I’m hearing that the same girls snuck into JK’s room and recorded him showering.

This could just be the girls trying to get more attention but I would not put it past disgusting people to do this. AND APPARENTLY IT WOULD BE EASY.

I’m not going to let this slide. This needs to stop.

BigHit needs to man tf up, and get better security. Acknowledge the fact that they messed up and FIX IT. Stop trying to convince us that everything is peachy.

BTS needs to be protected more, end of discussion. When it comes to the boys’ safety, I’m not ok with this. Guys, we need to do something.
