Lady Katniss 

Another sole survivor, Katniss took great pride in adorning her House colors. Her critics argued this was disrespectful to her husband, but both Lord Peeta and her loyal commonfolk within Ignis supported this decision - along with her decision to rarely smile. Quite the contrarian, she much preferred to join the other noble Houses of Ignis on a hunt rather than carry out any of her ruling responsibilities. 

A typical Everdeen look consisted of rich reds woven with black accents, or vice versa. Ringing true to their House words of��‘Fire and Blood’, their look was a rather intense one. Historically speaking, it was impossible for a member of the House to conceal their identity. They all could have passed for Wayani or Oracles if not for their piercing gray eyes. This unmistakable appearance faded alongisde the mixing of outsider blood, but appeared once more with the births of Prince Hunter and Princess Harper…

Historical Fact: After centuries of ruling, House Everdeen and the region of Ignis were certainly controversial. The Everdeens were allowed to reside in Ignis after the former heir, Prince Salton, bent the knee to Murchadh Odair. The glory days of House Everdeen were behind them by the time Lady Katniss was born. Though King Ardere had ordered the killing of all living dragons other than his own in a delusional state, he had expected for the remaining Everdeens to be able to hatch their own eggs. This never happened due to the dilution of their dragonblood and inability to produce twins. However, Katniss held onto two eggs that had been recovered in Ignis. These were passed down to Sage as a wedding present to make Capitol City ‘feel more like home’. 

Court Gossip: Her lack of interest in listening to any gossip or outside advice left many critics believing the Lady was ill suited for her role in politics. This, of course, was an error on their part. Lord Connall had raised her to always think ahead of those around her. While she found great company in her friendship with the King and her marriage to the Hand, they had originally started from a place of calculation and scheming. Getting in the good graces of the Court would reap countless benefits for her family and people. Wasn’t that what a ruling House wanted for their region?
