How to get the best free VPN service you could ever hope for. This is all about your on-line safety and security. What you need is 1. VPNBook setup for OpenVPN connecting to UDP. 2. Firefox (Cyberfox) or Slimjet Browser. 3. Either Zenmate or Windscribe Browser add-on 4. In case you are using Zenmate you need to connect to either the Germany or the USA server (NOTE: Indeed, this is not about whistle blowing or being part of the “we are Legion crowd” and so on, as it is within the “eyes” - this is rather for the normal populace in the world who would need a secure browsing environment to do banking, be private and so on) or Windscribe which connects to servers in Canada. 5. VPNBook to connect to either Germany (eg. use together with Zenmate browser add-on connected to Germany) or USA (Zenmate connected to USA) or Canada (Windscribe). This should afford you awesome VPN encryption and security at premium type speeds.

The most complete Debian build ever? Well, I am proud to say I probably have just that. I have just finished installing Freeplane for Mind-mapping and Knowledge Management! In addition I am using Laverna for encrypted notes. It is a super stable Debian build based on KALI Linux XFCE - light on resources. It's a complete Windows replacement on every level. Security, Privacy, Media - the Kitchen sink! See the following Blog post for included apps - https://eugenevanderwatt.noblogs.org/post/2017/07/08/eugenes-awesome-app-choices-that-puts-your-debian-9-build-to-work/

Update. Sophos AV for Linux. Updating KALI LInux this morning brought with it the KALI Exploit Database which immediately on-access triggered Sophos to action! Further proof that the AV is alive and kicking on my PC. It also stopped the the install of packages so I will have to disable the AV for the update. Again, this is not the type of software that is recommended for installation with a pen-testing OS such as KALI. Wow, I like the neat AV alert prompt - now isn't that cool eh?

"a culture of self-aggrandizement,"... --Via Slashdot Nest Founder 'Wakes Up In Cold Sweats' Fearing The Impact Of Mobile Technology Fast Company's Co.Design reports that Tony Fadell, who founded Nest and was instrumental in the creation of the iPod and iPhone, spoke with a mix of pride and regret about his role in mobile technology's rise to omnipresence. "I wake up in cold sweats every so often thinking, what did we bring to the world?" Fadell said. "Did we really bring a nuclear bomb with information that can -- like we see with fake news -- blow up people's brains and reprogram them? Or did we bring light to people who never had information, who can now be empowered?"
Faddell added that addiction has been designed into our devices, and it's harming the newest generation. "And I know when I take [technology] away from my kids what happens," Fadell explained. "They literally feel like you're tearing a piece of their person away from them-they get emotional about it, very emotional. They go through withdrawal for two to three days." Products like the iPhone, Fadell believes, are more attuned to the needs of the individual rather than what's best for the family and the larger community. And pointing to YouTube owner Google, Fadell said, "It was like, [let] any kind of content happen on YouTube. Then a lot of the executives started having kids, [and saying], maybe this isn't such a good idea. They have YouTube Kids now."

A place for everything, everything in it's place! Now that the Debian setup is mostly done. It's awesome to sit back and enjoy reading my favourite detective character after TinTin - That Sherlock Holmes of endearment Mr. Hercule Poirot (; French pronunciation: [ɛʁkyl pwaʁo]) is a fictional Belgian detective, created by Agatha Christie. Poirot is one of Christie's most famous and long-lived characters, appearing in 33 novels, one play (Black Coffee), and more than 50 short stories published between 1920 and 1975.

Interesting and for what it's worth - - Scientists Have Detected a New Particle At the Large Hadron Collider At CERN via Slashdot.
First time witnessed, the Large Hadron Collider finds predicted double-heavy particle. BBC reports: "Nearly all the matter that we see around us is made of neutrons and protons, which form the centers of atoms. These are made up of three smaller particles called quarks which can be either light or heavy. There are, however, six different types of quarks which combine in different ways to form other kinds of particle. Those that have been detected so far contain at most, one heavy quark. This is the first time that researchers have confirmed the existence of one with two heavy quarks. The research team will now measure the properties of the Xi-cc++ to establish how this new arrangement of quarks behaves and how the strong force holds the system together. They also expect to find more double heavy quark particles. Another unusual property of the particle is that it has two positive charges double that of the proton and it is four times heavier."
