@soliloquics asked
❛ when i wake up in the morning, you're the first person i want to see. ❜ kavetham
pinning/yearning sentence starters
❛ Well, aren't you lucky. ❜ It had him grin, ear to ear and since it was morning and they were in bed, it had him push closer and press his forehead against his. ❛ I don't plan on waking anywhere but in your bed for the rest of my life. ❜

@soliloquics asked
❛ if only you knew how much you truly mean to me. ❜ wriolette
pinning/yearning sentence starters
But he did know. He knew it by every breath taken, every smile shared, every morning when his eyes opened and he met him with softness and laziness. He knew it in the way he held his hand and braided his hair and in the way his fingers ran down his back. Wriothesley couldn't comprehend the depth of emotions Neuvillette could feel but couldn't understand and he didn't think he would ever fully understand just how much of what he felt he felt in turn.
Thus, he grew silent at his words. He felt guilty, somehow made himself believe that he yearned for things Neuvillette could not give or didn't know how to give. Emotions were difficult and humans felt so much more than his brethren did.
❛ I do know. ❜ He said silently and averted his gaze because even if he did know, he had no way of showing it to the other. Or showing him just how much he meant to him.

@soliloquics asked:
❛ my heart belongs to you, always and forever. ❜ chili
pinning/yearning sentence starters
❛ Ahww.. haha. ❜ Childe smiled warmly, his fingers reaching for his hips, pulling him closer, close enough to press a kiss to his forehead. ❛ What's gotten into you, lover? I already know I have you heart and soul, just like you have mine. ❜

Debates between colleagues were important and essential for growth. Kaveh could not claim to be the best at something he did and allow himself to stagnate, especially in a field that was as evolving as architecture. Math and engineering were consistent, but style was forever changing. ❛ I was hoping you could have a look at the numbers. I'm feeling a little apprehensive, and in this line of work, it's important to have doubts checked. ❜ He said and handed the binder and sketchbook over to Ratio. ❛ I was also hoping you could look at the style a bit. You enjoy sculptures, and the client is — obsessed with them. ❜
assisting colleagues was part of a scholar's life; there was little merit in shutting oneself away and pouring over the same materials over and over again. intelligent discussion and debate were essential to a healthy mind, no matter how one looked at it. as such, kaveh was not immediately sent right back out of his office as some others have been. instead, ratio eyed the binder and sketchbook from afar before holding out his hand.
❛ what kind of feedback precisely are you hoping to gain from my perspective ? ❜

He had a knack when it came to keeping people at an arm's length. His luck was a double edged sword; keeping him alive but burying everyone else around him in dunes of sand, though that wasn't the reason why he was keeping his distance from his colleagues. He was known to play risky gambits and he understood why the rest of the stonehearts were hesitant to trust him – he didn't trust them, either – but they were mere stepping stones to his actual plan. The prize that awaited him at the end of decades long fight was a pyrrhic one, he already knew that, and once it would come to fruition, there would be nothing left for him but to fall to rest. Perhaps he would then answer the call of nihility he had felt so keenly when faced with THEM.
Nevertheless, he wondered if circumstances were different, could they have been friends? If life wasn't so keen on shoving him in situations where he needed to protect himself, shield himself from everything he could conceive of, would there had been a possibility that they could connect? She was as naive as he could expect and a part of him wished he could shake some sense into her. Like a lamb trotting her way into the den of wolves, thanking them for the shelter they provided and ignoring the way they salivated over her. She trusted too much even if she didn't trust him. It was good. She shouldn't.
❛ Stop selling yourself short. ❜ He protested, his gaze sharp and unyielding as it observed her. She had enough venom in her to be annoyed at his words, to feel the sting of baseless insults and yet she still seemed to trust Jade, of all people. Maybe he was being too lenient and she had perfected the mask of an innocent capitalist – far from actually being helpless but harmless compared to the ones they worked with. Maybe the lamb was in fact a snake, waiting to strike. He couldn't know. He didn't want to be in striking distance if it was the case. Either way, her words annoyed him. ❛ You were an integral part of Penacony. Without your help, I couldn't have gone forward with the plan and things would have played much worse. Who knows, maybe I'd be dead. ❜
❛ But that comes to my actual reason for visiting you. ❜ He kicked off of the chair he sat and made his slow way over to her, a golden chip appearing between his fingers. He doubt it would distract her but he still bounced it along his knuckles playfully. ❛ I don't like being indebted to people. Name your price and – provided I find the exchange reasonable, I'll meet it. ❜
her eyes, resembling tranquil lakes, gradually narrowed, their once placid surface now disturbed by the unwelcome weight of his words, generating ripples of irritation that disrupted her inner peace. the clear blue deepened into a steely grey, mirroring the tension brewing within her as her brows knitted together like the taut strings of a bow, poised to unleash the arrow of her retort. aventurine had a knack for weaving words that burrowed beneath her skin, igniting a simmering irritation that made her fingers twitch, tapping rhythmically against her thigh in a silent manifestation of her agitation.
she suppressed the urge to deliver a scathing retort, her expression transforming as gently as the sun breaking over the horizon, heralding the dawn of a new day. although she had never sought recognition or words of gratitude for her efforts, she was nonetheless taken aback by the appreciation expressed by a man who had risked everything to solidify their standing in penacony. it was impossible to deny the flicker of empathy that ignited within her, a fragile candle flickering in the wind, at the thought of his potential demise. yet here he stood, returned like the proverbial cat that always finds its way back the very next day, defying the odds with a tenacity that left her both bewildered & grudgingly impressed.
any trace of empathy, guilt, or remorse that had once lingered within her evaporated into thin air, for his mouth remained as sharp & clever as she remembered from their last encounter. “ isn’t that lovely, ” she mused softly, contemplating the myriad directions this conversation could have taken; this, she realized, was a fortunate outcome. “ however, i don’t believe my actions warranted a personal visit for expressions of gratefulness. i merely fulfilled the obligations of our roles to advance the ipc’s agenda. ”
she hadn’t intended to come across as insensible; in truth, she was equally pleased to hear him articulate such sentiments — assuming, of course, that they were sincere. however, it was regrettable that she felt little inclination to forge authentic connections with her coworker. “ i could just as easily claim that my actions were a strategic move to enhance my standing after jarilo-vi. so it’s best not to dwell on it too much. ”

He didn't often have the time to read the Steambird or dive into its more detailed columns that hers certainly would encompass but the melusine liked to bring him excerpts from articles they enjoyed and hers had been among the few he had been privy to read. Some even had him reach for that particular issue of the Steambird to read in depth because her more technical approach meant that he could have insight into how the usurper had woven his rules into the world.
As a dragon, his constellation was moot, placed there to give the illusion that he fell under the scope of celestia's domain but he was outside of its reach. Though Celestia seemed dormant given how Focalors had managed to execute her plan, he was still wary of being found. He hoped that the astrologian would not poke around his empty constellation and ask too many questions when she would find it impossible to read.
He watched her walk away with an endeared but small smile and with a shake of his head, he made his way towards one of the unoccupied seats. His intentions had been to watch the sea life dance outside the window but the sudden reflection of the night sky caught his attention. His gaze lifted, he blinked and followed the path of the stars in the room. It was difficult to see but Neuvillette wasn't that easily dissuaded and through the fog, he searched for that recognisable giant hat.
❛ Fascinating. ❜ He complimented quietly and rose one of his hands to try and interact with the stars. ❛ Is this how you conduct your research? ❜
"" oh . . . "" truthfully , there is a small sense of pride that rushes deep within her at the realization that the man before her recognized who she was . of course , mona knew that it didn't totally mean that he had read her entries in the steambird ——— for all she knew , he could have simply heard someone else mention her name ——— but regardless , it still made her very happy .
so she stands up a little bit straighter , and gives out a small little bow in courtesy right back ; a smile on her face , now . "" yes , that would be i . "" a little giggle leaves her , before she is clearing her throat again .
"" and thank you . i promise to be very quick , i am sure you of all people are in much need of a small break . "" and with that , another few steps are given , though this time towards the desk once again . with a clear breath , the astrologist begins her work again ; reflections like water of different constellations , of different astral maps . the whole room falls under a reflection of the starry sky , and one's sensation of being within it would be . . . as if you walked through a deep fog .
for those not used to it , it truly is a sight to memorize . for mona , it is a normal occurrence . and so , the woman is back to work , muttering to herself , just as a scroll and quill float in the air , taking note of everything for her .

It was an odd partnership because few could draw a correlation between the fatui and the funeral parlour but to him it was a rather straightforward one. Aside form the obvious, shadier, sides, his time in Liyue was spent a little easier thanks to Zhongli's work as a consultant, although after learning about his true identity, he wouldn't really count him as a member of the parlour.
Still he worked there and while it had been him he had originally came to bug, he was glad he had ran into Hu Tao on his way from his usual escapades. Life was dull and difficult enough without him following every dull and lifeless person around. Director Hu was full of energy and humour and in that moment where everyone either treated him with gloves or with barely concealed annoyance, it was rather refreshing. He needed someone that showed him he was more than just his recovery and more than just a tool to be used in their experiments.
❛ Ah well, in a business like yours, you shouldn't be celebrating too many customers too outwardly. People will start to talk, you know. ❜ He teased and tapped his fingers against the wooden counter, a rhythm created that was as random as anything could be. ❛ They'll accuse you of wanting them dead! Though if you're strapped for cash, I could summon a new divine threat upon the harbour. I'm sure there's more of those where Osial came from. ❜
He was kidding, of course. Probably.
❛ I'm fine, though. Recovery is going slower than I anticipated and I'm itching to be let out into the battlefield again but they're keeping me on a tight leash. It's fine, though. Nothing's permanent. ❜
The connection between the funeral parlor and the fatui was certainly an interesting one. It was in fact, one the director kept under wraps from the general public. She already had enough on her plate when it came to keeping out of 'trouble' around Liyue. Then again she didn't feel ashamed by it herself. To her, they were another business partner. Although Childe himself was proving to be more of a welcomed friend over time.
The harbinger's excitable personality was a breath of much needed fresh air. It was rare to even see the slightest grin upon anyone come into a place that was associated with death. She moved the paperwork she had been working on off to the side letting the favored client lean against the counter space.
"Ahhh... well I can promise such a secret is safe with me. Besides it would be quite hypocritical if I just tossed you out to the millelith seeing we are two sides of the same mora~"
While there was teasing tone to her voice, there still was some truth to it. Even if Wansheng didn't get too involved in the shadier deals. Her eccentric tactics to promote did put her on a unfavorable watchlist.
Lifting her hand she attempted to stifle the chuckle at the dead pun in question. "Well, yes and yes" The second of which was given with dramatic sigh. "For a while there had been a decrease in clients. I don't fully blame them. A funeral parlor surely isn't a place you want to frequent. But alas, this time of year brings in those who have more .... supernatural related concerns"
Really she couldn't quite deny those ones. The mortician just had to be careful on what type of advice she gave in order to prevent panicked rumors from spreading. With that she shook her head as if to dismiss the idea.
"Nevertheless, it is good to see you again my dear harbinger. Tell me. How have you been fairing?"

Ever since his battle with the all devouring narwhal, Childe had become significantly weaker. It bothered him to no end that his body could not handle the same amount of exertion and strain as he was used to and it was a kind of pent up frustration that wasn't as demanding as the call of the abyss had been all those months back but nevertheless annoying. It was like an itch he could not scratch, carefully prodding at the base of his neck, urging him to do more, be more, fight more and push his body to limits that would destroy him further if he crossed them. Childe was not known for his patience but in order to achieve his goal, he needed to be so.
Recovery was, ironically, a pain.
He was well enough that a quiet stroll along a bustling city wouldn't put him back into bed with coughing fits but it still left him with aching calfs and tired arms and considering the kind of flexibility and stamina he had had before that fight, it left him feeling a little dejected. That it was all part of his healing process was repeated like a mantra in his head and Childe still pushed himself every day to get back into the shape he was – he needed to reach it if he was going to reach above it one day, too.
Sumeru seemed almost perfect for that. Tall hills and winding paths outside of the city and plenty of new adventures to write home about. The basket he was carrying was a testament of how much he thought of his family while he travelled as it was filled to the brim with toys and local specialities he wished to send home. In his search for more, though, he had wound up walking a little too far than he wanted. This part of the city was unrecognisable, much like the young man before him was.
( the abyss might have irreversibly changed his fate but he was still a child of teyvat )
He smiled at him, bright and carefree and adjusted the basket under his arm so it rested on his hip. ❛ Well it's one way to get your undivided attention. And your hat is nice, for the record. I wandered a little bit too far and now I can't find my way back down. And I lost my map along the way. Can you point me in the direction of the adventurer's guild? I'll know my way from there. ❜
he's feeling thoroughly EXHAUSTED — not physically so much as mentally. spending the morning confined to a stuffy room, trying to actually learn something while surrounded by people constantly pestering him for his ATTENTION has left the wanderer empathizing with turtles that refuse to come out of their shells. it's something of a miracle that he's been able to accomplish anything at all, and ren fully plans on retreating to the most secluded place he can find — hungry for the peace and quiet one would assume a library should logically provide.
footsteps still when the voice calls out to him. ordinarily, ren would simply ignore it and continue walking — he isn't actually OBLIGATED to talk with anyone at all, is he? ( particularly not someone with the AUDACITY to call him kid. ) yet glaring at the speaker from beneath his kasa, the wanderer is less than thrilled to realize he actually KNOWS this fool — even if childe is incapable of recognizing him.
❝ ... ❞ it really is just his luck that a HARBINGER would show up when he isn't in the mood for this kind of drama. still, now that he does know he's here, ren feels obligated to involve himself. sumeru is his responsibility. ( perhaps not officially, but in every way that matters. ) ❝ you really know how to ENDEAR yourself to strangers, now don't you? ❞ the wanderer says aloud, crossing arms and tipping his head back to shoot him the most unamused look he can possibly muster. he would point out that he's CONSIDERABLY older than him — but there's no sense in weighing down the conversation with superfluous details when he should be focusing on gathering information. instead, he simply asks, ❝ what do you want? ❞
#windsfavored#¬ childe / ic.#¬ childe / main.#well he does have a cool hat#it's only appropriate that it gets acknowledged hah a

He could employ a few adventurers to act as his guide and to even accompany him to the ruins themselves but honestly, he didn't think he needed the extra man power – not to mention that he didn't have the money to spare. Which resulted in his smile to turn awkward. ❛ I thought about it but it wouldn't feel right to waste the akademiya resources on such frivolous things. Maybe I'll just get a map… ❜ he sighed and rubbed his forehead, his eyes closing. ❛ Thanks for your help anyway, mister Wriothesley. ❜
he supposed some travellers would take an interest in the ruins of the old institute, although he wasn't particularly familiar with the area in any detailed manner. ❛ ah, a scholar from the— akademiya, was it ? ❜ that, however, did pique his interest. ❛ i'm wriothesley, pleased to meet you. unfortunately, i'm not overly familiar with the area. have you considered posting a commission with the adventurer's guild ? ❜
