Listen I'm aware you all want a piece of this. I understand I'm a hot commodity here on tumblr dot com. But even setting aside wealth and immortality, my husband squeezes the absolute fattest ass you've ever seen through literally billions of chimney flues every December 25th. And every other night of the year, he's with me. And somehow you hoes think you can teach me a trick I haven't seen before? Dream on.

I'm already seeing advice from people in the US to purchase queer books and other banned or "controversial" books on paper as a way to combat the wave of government censorship that is coming. While this is a good idea (it is! absolutely!), it's not accessible to everyone, and truly, we're not going to be able to consumerism our way out of this one.
If you can buy the books, do. Whether you can buy the books or not, borrow them from your library.
Borrow the paper versions. Borrow the ebook or audiobook versions. Request the titles you want that your library doesn't have. The more a title circulates or is requested, the better librarians are going to be able to defend keeping it if and when it's ever challenged.
Use libraries like @queerliblib too. The more members they have, the better they'll be able to fundraise.
Your community resources depend on you using them. Borrow the books before they go away.
InB4: Piracy is not the solution here. We're trying to keep community resources available, not make sure individual people can read individual books. Different problems.
The books are still available. Borrowing them from your library and returning them on time and in good condition will help keep them that way.

Does anybody else track their life though a series of obsessions? Like “ah yes, i remember that happening, i was obsessing over Star Gate Atlantis at the time,” or, “this was during my Supernatural era.” I can map out my whole life in this way.

for those looking to participate in their local communities but unsure how or where to start, I highly recommend starting with your local library. yes I am a certified library stan and library lover but your local library likely has a lot of programming and events that are a good opportunity to meet other people! my small town library has crafting events, teen book clubs, author visits, workshops, birdwatching workshops, gardening workshops, foraging workshops, and more! many of them are even virtual! it's a great reason to get out of the house, too. i guarantee people will be glad you're there. go to local school events, a lot of them have fundraising events and function as a sort of community center. find your closest food not bombs chapter, go to local music events (yes- even your small town has a diy scene!), follow businesses in your community on instagram (especially book stores or cafes), find local artists/makers and follow them (go to events they post about!), pick a few spots to be a "regular" at and start a good rapport with the employees and other regulars! download bumble friends and start meeting people who value what you value and form genuine relationships with them. be open to people outside of your age demographic! there ARE in fact older people who you have a lot in common with, younger people too. you're not alone!! try not to be too judgmental. we are all just people looking for connections.

the idea that you can buy milk at the grocery store seems just so self evident. it's hard to imagine the time before pasteurization and refrigeration were common, when the milkman would come by your house every morning and lactate into a bottle for you.

So I was looking up some stuff for reasons and I ended up looking into the official stance on homosexuality of the Church of England.
Apparently they think it’s okay for people of the same sex to be in a civil partnership, but not to have sex.
Discrimination aside that is the funniest possible stance you could take. You’d better not be having sex in that marriage of yours. It’s fine for you to be bound together forever in love but I’d better not catch you touching your privates. We’ll bless your union but you’d better not do the sex.

Again, watching the X files and my roomies are like “wow!! Look at the budget jump! The special effects have improved so much and they are going to these crazy locations to film! This is insane!”
And I’m sitting there thinking about how the Cool New budget increase I just watched in TOS was the introduction of the Funny POV Camera :3
