i bought a collection of ranpo’s stories thinking they would be silly detective stuff— similar to how he’s characterized by asagiri in bsd and uh
holy shit
i’ll be thinking about the caterpillar for a long time. it’s such a jarring look into human cruelty and how those of a lower vantage point are not always seen as quite human, even by their loved ones.
i had to set the book down for a minute after that ending. fuck man..
