aaron is such a silly name why does it have 2 As. its like it comes with its own tiny little scream attached. anybody named aaron is just begging to get whumped honestly. the only solution is to become transgender and change your name to erin, which sounds exactly the same but does not have the scream. like aa what are we even talking about can we be fucking forreal AA

Site-17 and Ethics Committee; they don’t get along, for obvious reasons. Character stuff under the cut.
Site-17
-Both the head researcher of the personification team and their main lab rat. She’s been vivisected three times, the first at her own suggestion. Her memory of it comes and goes.
-Also the Essophysics Department, and all the Foundation’s coldest parts.
-It goes both ways. Her job fucks her up badly and she gets very little affection from Gears, so while she’s well-fed and healthy, she’s unsatisfied.
-One of the most eldritch Foundation avatars in her internal monologue, but the least likely to show it.
-Foundation’s room/office is one of her containment cells, and she doesn’t try to hide it.
-The reason her upper avatar is so bad at talking to people.
-The ice side of the fire-ice dichotomy I’m trying to push.
Ethics Committee
-The fire, obviously.
-4’11 without the stilettos she wears constantly and a hidden menace. She also uses said stilettos to fight.
-Frightening amount of knives hidden on her person.
-Splits her time between her home at Site-37 as seen in the North Star series on the wiki and Site-17, where she’s needed most, even though 17 constantly tries to reject her using AC.
-Foundation’s heart. She has to feel all the emotions she forces herself to forget or gaslights herself into believing are irrelevant. Thankfully, she can do something about most of the things she feels, though she has the same control issues as the rest of the Foundation and gets incredibly upset when she can’t help.
-Wears all her emotions on her sleeve unless it would stress out someone she’s trying to help.
-Doesn’t suffer from the same memory issues as most Foundation personifs.
-Prone to vomiting.

In Which Ira Refuses to Acknowledge Her Emotions
(which is a really broad category, but it’s fine.)
Foundation knows, intellectually, that she’s not human. It’s never bothered her to call herself an object in her file; ‘it’ feels as true to her as ‘her’, and she’s found it helps when she needs to be cold and detached the way Three Portlands mocks.
Three Portlands also likes to flaunt how little control she has over her, and that, like many other things, makes the undersides of her fingers crawl and twitch with the need to hold. When her gloves are fingerless, she can see the motion without her glasses on, and the revulsion she feels from her handlers is another reminder of her anomaly.
It doesn’t bother her that she’s not human. She’s Thaumiel, the first Thaumiel, and being anything more wouldn’t be right. Everything she should want has been laid out in her catchphrases and O5 meeting agendas. And it would be fine, if she wasn’t always aware of the movements of the others made of the same things as her.
America sits stiffly in a vaguely familiar, if not far more opulent, room. His two strongest cities are texting each other thousands of words of playscripts and insults and so caught up in ideas that they skip their half-sleep, while his two strongest states give synchronized statements to their strongest news outlets. It’s an election year, and they’re tired, and they want to go further into themselves and sing into their oceans and forget everything at their bars and, by the looks of California’s search history, try making homemade boba.
Their oceans are free of hallucinations of bodies. The music at their bars is written by a human, and it won’t make them hemorrhage. The tapioca California will use won’t be sentient. All of that, and the holes in their memories from the times they were, is Foundation’s work. She’s proud, of course. It’s one of the few emotions that has never fazed her.
But it also rips all of her hearts out, in her chest and stomach and limbs, and absence hurts more than torn tendons. Absence means something that is not there should be. Something that should not be in the world is. It’s contagious, too. If she doesn’t do anything, the absences will spread, and it’s harder to do her work when she can hear her own pain echoing through the gaps in her bones. The tiny muscles underneath her fingernails and in her palms don’t twitch; they riot in thousands of tiny seizures that break open her stiff skin, and she doesn’t have to hold them to her nose to smell the antiseptic of the liquid that subsumes itself into the pages, her equivalent of blood.
There’s an itch, too, scraping her hands raw and drawing burning lines through her absences.
The personifications are anomalies. She’s the only one who can see it, because no matter how long they’ve lived above the Veil and how crucial they are to human civilization, they were a mistake in creation and containing them is a job she can’t finish-
No, of course she’s not a mistake. There’s no difference between her and the Foundation, because she’s accepted that she’s not human.
The others are pretending. They hold a smaller version of the Masquerade she’s maintained, and they’ve lied less often than she has, but at least she knows what she is. All the redactions are just in service of that.
She just needs to contain them.
She won’t. She knows they’re Archon. She’s made from emotions but she lives for rationality. This is the least of all the things she should be worrying about.
It’s scientific curiosity. That’s all her need is. Research is not in her motto, but her longing to cut things open and break them into their functioning parts, or to observe them from behind glass if she can’t do that, is almost as fundamental to her as those three words.
She’s tried to study herself before, force Site-17 to stay corporeal and strap her down while she looks inside her, but the only thing she’s found are concrete and steel and wires and the only thing she’s felt is pain. It’s not worth it. She knows what she is—she can’t use herself to find answers anymore because the only questions she has left are about the ones above. Maybe the twitching is just the frustration of unanswered questions, an extension of the reasons she exists, but it doesn’t matter. The personifications don’t matter. She can live without this particular knowledge; she’ll redact the questions from herself once she rereads her file again, another reminder. If she remembers.
She’s always got better things to do.
She’ll never be thanked for the things she has to do.

SCP-7791/the embodiment of ethics before WOZNY. they locked me in a room. a rubber room. a rubber room with the declass. its the platonic ideal of personifwhump im going to cry
translation notes:
my initial plan was to look for a classical design that already existed because i think SCP essophysics were made with classical personifs in mind rather than the newer g(a) fandom things. the problem is that there was no classical design for ethics. so i made one. though i don’t have a good handle on the required iconography so it’s really just my usual translation process with a classical veneer
ancient ethics is MASSIVELY overrepresented im sorry it just gives me more visual material than twentieth century things
her headdress is literally just the trolley problem
the feather is the feather of truth from egyptian mythology
her hair is black and white and she has green and red trimmings on her clothes because black and white morality and red for incorrect and green for correct choices do you catch my drift *gestures vaguely*
gold eyes gold other things because the golden rule is a part of like. the vast majority of ethics systems in the world. you dont even have to be human to get it if you are a reasonably intelligent animal and you live in small relatively egalitarian groups you understand the utility of it
the gold thing with the balls she’s carrying is supposed to resemble both justice’s scales and the. the thing they use to demonstrate newton’s third law i don’t know the name because reciprocity and the consequences of one’s actions are also things ethics likes to think about
the book is a book of law
her clothing is a combination of court dress and general classical garb. once again dark grey and white
yin yang is self evident. i didn’t really like just sticking it there but i didn’t know what else to do
the oldest schools of ethics are egyptian chinese and indian so those were the groups i tried to base her appearance off of. not really sure it came across properly though
all my information comes from britannica or wikipedia i only did two days’ worth of research and i didn’t look in depth at any of the types of ethics
i tried to focus on her function, which is telling us the most moral ways to live, rather than the different ways people have conceived her
the background images are just things relating to her. i put the universal declaration of human rights on there twice because i like it

finished the prologue of my original scp series! (Requires a bit of context from scp-6500 as it is my interpretation of the no return vanguard timeline)

okay okay I just thought of a very cool tale for vanguard and perhaps just the no return canon in general.
so in scp-6500 it’s mentioned how there were levels of decontainment occurring before the actual O5 vote and the split between threshold and vanguard. and it mentions how humanoids were released on masse and stuff
now, site-17 is the biggest site containing humanoid anomalies and in a lot of canons (including one with a vanguard timeline), the site director is mentioned to be one Thomas Graham who is presented as a very conservative and often cruel person in regards to his directorship at site-17.
what I think would be an interesting tale or series of events is if Graham or other pro-containment advocates within the Foundation decided to basically refuse the initial 6500 containment procedures and try to lock down their sites and the Foundation would have to respond to it.
in the threshold timeline they’d probably just concede after the vote but in the vanguard timeline. Oho. It would be so interesting to see Vanguard try to do a siege of Site-17 (funnily enough, mirroring General Bowe’s siege of site-19 in the old foes canon) and “liberate” the humanoids
I’ll probably throw a reference to this idea in my next chapter for crossroads to apotheosis since my two main characters are on the ethics committee as all but I’m gonna let this idea set for now

quick ethics before bed shes basically the same as her former self
translation notes:
orangish red hair because 8980’s discussion page finally confirmed that i am not the only one who associates the committee with orange (you should read 8980 but HEED THE FUCKING WARNINGS its as harrowing as they say it is)
the glasses look exactly like vanguard’s
eyes are the same shade of grey as the foundation’s
the atrocious tie is the lightbulb joke
white suit because purity and transparency and such
black gloves because the hand on her insignia is black and i needed contrast. also the foundation wears gloves too. and something about her purpose being investigation and bringing shit to light but using methods as cloak and dagger as anyone else in the foundation and her hands are black
the open cuff looks like the greek letter omega because omega-1
shes trying. most of the parts of her really are trying to be a functional conscience but shes still beholden to an upper avatar whose harmful habits shes had to take on to function and scp foundation ethics committee is an oxymoron you cant legislate a humane way to imprison checks notes low risk humanoids. she can only reduce harm
shes probably one of my most normal looking personifs but thats okay shes designed to fly under the radar
