Entering 2017, Ryan Hollingshead looked to build on his best two professional seasons, which included a significant role in helping FC Dallas capture the first two major trophies in club history. But on January 6, the plan changed dramatically. Hollingshead was struck by a car while helping a stranger during icy road conditions in suburban Dallas. He suffered multiple fractured vertebrae and missed preseason and the first two months of the season. But with support he received from family, FC Dallas and his faith, Hollingshead recovered relatively quickly and returned to action May 17 against NYCFC. Hollingshead has appeared in 11 league games for FC Dallas this season, for a career total of 84. Two of his four career goals have come against the Houston Dynamo.
