DONE!
I AM DONE!!!! I officially turned in my project today which means all I have left to do is write the tumblr post. This project was hard and annoying; however, it taught me a lot. I now know how to do research within a library and write abstracts using them. This project hopefully has prepared me more for college because it shows me that big projects that are finals or assignments aren’t as hard as people claim they are. After hearing last year’s student’s complain I wasn’t going to take it however I am glad I did because it has taught me the essential tools to passing and doing well in college.

Half way there, woah living On a prayer
I have finished writing my annotations and intro to annotations. I am unsure of what he wants so it probably is well written but at least I have a start. I have checks on all my abstracts which means I am a little bit closer to being done. They weren’t as hard as I thought they were going to be which was nice because it didn’t take me a long time. We are now three weeks away from the final deadline and I am still on track. After getting back my intro to annotations I knew I was going to have to rewrite it because I didn’t know how to do it. I hope to only have to rewrite it once more and then begin my general introduction. I feel like I am writing the same things over and over again.

Writing portion #1
After going to the library and collecting my research from it I am ready to begin the grueling haul towards the finish. I am beginning to write my abstracts tonight that way I can get a good jump on them and not fall behind. I can’t wait till this project is over. I think my struggles with be with writing the intro to annotations and abstracts because I am unsure of what he wants. I hope to finish the project a week in advance and turn it in that way I don’t have to stress about it.

Reading The Work #5
Ben has decided to move the treasure into a cave. The pirates find this out because they dig for it and it’s not there. They end up tracking the treasure down and putting it on the Hispaniola for transportation back to Europe. Finally, the book is over and now I have moved onto the writing portions of it! I really enjoyed the book because it kept me interested by trying to find treasure.

Reading The Work #4
After Jim goes back onto the boat he realizes that there are only 6 pirates remaining. Stevenson does this because he wants to bring up the question again of whether the pirates will end up finding the treasure or not. Plus, he wants to bring up the idea of nobility again and whether they are noble or not. They are unsure or not of whether to leave the other pirates and go find the treasure themselves or take the others with them. At this point, I just want them to find the treasure and have the book end.

Reading the Work #3
I am about half way through the book and I really like it so far! Reading through the beginning of their journey, I notice an interesting line. Jim says “I hate the very thought of Treasure Island.” This is very ironic because he obviously wants to find the treasure and become rich through everything he will gain from finding it; however, he says he hates the thought. It’s ironic because he wants to go but doesn’t like the idea? It doesn’t make sense. After watching Jim find Ben Gunn’s coracle and being able to use it to defeat the much larger Hispanola pirate ship was also interesting. This situation represents the David versus Goliath story that everyone knows.

Reading The Work #2
In part 2 Stevenson begins to use some of the historical facts and boat terms. In order to understand the different cities and ports I had to look up a few of them to understand what he was talking about. Furthermore, Stevenson is beginning to use naval and boat terms that most people wouldn't understand. Since I have my boating license and know a lot about boats I was able to understand what he is talking about when he uses words like hull, starboard, and bowsprit; however, most people who know nothing about this topic wouldn't know what these things mean. Lastly, since I know what happens later in the book because I forgot to do the posts, I can see there is some foreshadowing with the parrot saying “Pieces of Eight.” I have no idea what this means at this point; however, it is obviously foreshadowing something that happens later on in the book.

Reading The Work #1
Choosing the book I estimated that they book would be about finding treasure and killing. Well I am exactly right. Although I forgot to do the tumblr posts I am doing them now. The book is divided into six parts so I expect to do one post after every part ends. I am now through part one and I have already found some irony. The blind man named, Pew, is a blind man who is leading a group of pirates to try and stop the crew from finding clues to the treasure. Pew, the leader, is trying to make sure that his men do everything they can to stop them and this is ironic because blind men usually don’t lead capable men into battle. Often times, there isn't a blind man leading able men into battle. Furthermore, Pew represents the many pirate deaths throughout the book. His death early on within the novel shows the readers and foreshadows the many deaths to come among the pirates.

Picking The Work 2
After weighing my options on which book to do I chose Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. I chose this novel because I wanted an adventurous novel which some action. I wanted to read Treasure Island back in the summer and so I am now able to read it for the final project. Plus, since the book was written in 1886 there is a lot of criticism for the piece. Lastly, since it's a novel about pirates and ships I enjoy reading it with an accent that sounds like a pirate (I know I'm weird). I hope to finish the piece by the third week of March.

Picking The Work 1
I first came up with a few ideas regarding books - The Life of Pi, 1001 Arabian Nights and Treasure island. All three of these pieces I was looking to read for the group summer reading; however, nobody wanted to read Treasure Island and 1001 Arabian Nights so we decided to read The Life of Pi. I was still thinking about reading that novel because I really enjoyed it. Treasure Island and 1001 Arabian Nights sounded really interesting so they were considered as well.

The cross- The cross weighs around 1 pound; however, it makes me carry the most weight internally. It reminds me everyday how I have to be the best person I can be because someone is always watching. Ever since the day I was born my parents have raised me to be a great, loving kid and I received this cross when I was born. It reminds me every day that I have to respect my parents and act how they want me to. Overall this cross bears the most weight internally because it reminds me that I have to act like my parents taught me and they are always watching. weight 70 lbs.
The backpack - Although this is the heaviest item out of the pictures, it doesn't bear the most weight internally. The backpack bears a lot of weight because it represents the passion my family has for me in doing good in school. The backpack bears weight on me because it weighs a lot, but also because it reminds me that I have to do good in school. weight - 40 lbs.
The AP US History book - This has the same weight internally along with the backpack and keys. People are expecting me to follow in my parents footsteps and attend college which puts me in a lot of pressure. I want to go to college and get a job I love; however, it is stressful and has a lot of pressure through apps and scholarships. Everyone is expecting me to go to college so they put me in a lot of pressure, which bears a lot of weight. weight - 50 lbs.
The keys - The keys bear the some amount of weight as the backpack and college book; however, it is significantly lighter in actual weight. My parents have shown they believe I am responsible enough to have the keys. They believe I am responsible enough to go places by myself, which puts a lot of pressure on me because I don't want to let them down by lying or doing something stupid. weight - 40 lbs.
The t-shirt - This is significantly smaller in weight. I am expected by people to not look sloppy or bad in public. Even though I might sometimes, I am expect to look nice when attending events which puts pressure because I have to be able to look nice and present myself well mostly every day. weight - 10 lbs.
The Pencil - I was wondering what my last object would be and I picked a pencil. I wasn't sure how this beared weight on me but then it came to me. You, Mr. Kreinbring, put weight on me along with the rest of the school district. You guys put pressure on us not to copy each others work which sometimes can be difficult. Long projects, often times, put pressure on us because we have to stress out and do them all by ourselves without copying. You guys expect us to do our best even when somethign isn't right which gives us a lot of weight to handle. weight - 7.5 lbs.
The Ring - The ring represents all the hard work into my teams. The ring bears the least amount of weight but it stills bears the weight because my teammates on every team expect me to give one hundred percent all the time. weight - 5 lbs.

Valkyrie
The movie Valkyrie is a great instance of an anti-war war movie because it shows the hardships of when a leader like Hitler comes to power. The movie is about a general, Tom Cruise, and a group of many high generals and captains within the Nazi army who try to kill Himmler and Hitler. After failing multiple times before then this is one of the last attempts to kill him. The movie shows us the hardships of fighting in different environments, from the city to the Sahara of Africa. While fighting inAfrica, Tom Cruise’s character loses an eye and a hand, this is significant because it shows the hardships and struggles in and after the war. Plus, Valkyrie shows how war and the wrong leader can lead to people hating the country and the leader. Because Hitler is the leader ofGermanyand nobody in the world likes him they are trying to kill him which represents the idea that nobody likes him and the country.

Life’s choices
Life is full of choices Make sure you pick the right one Don’t listen to the voices Hear only yours and you have one
Many people will tell you You need to change your looks Don’t take to heart their view Fabulous bods are only found in books
There is only one voice That you should listen to It will help you make the right choice That is perfect just for you
Your looks are your own Someone will always love you You will never be alone Look in the mirror and you’ll see who

Moral
Treating everyone how I want to be treated is the way I want to live my life. This is the way I want to live my life because if I treat everyone with respect and the way I want to be treated then I should be treated the same as them. If I treat someone the way I want to be treated there is no reason why I shouldn't be treated the way I want to be. I know I don't want to be treated poorly and that is why I try to treat everyone nicely. Nobody ever wants to be treated badly, that is why I try to treat everyone the way I want to be treated.

Parents
When discussing the movie Rebel Without a Cause with my parents they agreed with me. They agreed on the fact that the movie was exaggerated and dramatic compared to today's high school experience and also to their high school experiences. They to didn't like the acting ad plot behind the whole movie as well. Overall, they believed that this movie wasn't a correct showing of teenage life both when they were teenagers and teenagers today.

This picture at a glance, shows a team who has just won a big game. They are all happy and celebrating the victory and are going over to thank the fans for showing support. What this picture doesn't show is the amount of hard work and determination these players put in. This picture doesn't show the countless mornings and hours these players put in to become better. It also doesn't show the fun and jokes they have. This team had so much fun through pasta parties and just hanging out. Plus, they had so many different running jokes that this picture doesn't show. This picture does show a team that has just won a game; but, it doesn't show the work the team put in, the running inside jokes and fun this team had.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off Part 3
After watching Rebel Without a Cause, my group watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. We after finishing both movies realized that they are quite similar. Some parts in both movies were quite exaggerated and other were the realities of high school. In both movies the adults don't understand how and why the kids act rebellious. They are unaware of the problems and challenges kids and teenagers face within high school. The speaker in the movie is the directors and screenwriters; however, it is also Ferris Bueller. The audience is not only the parents to show how unaware they are of their kids life. But it is also the teenagers because Ferris is trying to show how teenagers should take high school not as serious as some people take it. He tries to rely this message because he wants to teach kids to not only study and get good grades but also, to have some fun during high school. My group did like this movie because it was funny and interesting.
