Proud of Bucks Awards

Awards and nominations are a bit like buses - two have come along at once!

We were honoured to attend this year's 'Proud of Bucks Awards' at The Oasis Partnership last night, presented by Aylesbury Community Board and The Clare Foundation. We won a commendation in the 'Outstanding Group Award' category for our volunteers' amazing work telling stories for, by, and about our local community.

Congratulations to all of the volunteers and groups who were there. It was a fantastic night to celebrate all that's best about where we live.

We've won an award!

This summer's Buckinghamshire Shakespeare Festival was named 'Best Event' at the inaugural Buckinghamshire Culture Bucks Sparks Awards. As was only fitting, we asked Richard II (aka Andrew Peter Shaw) to show off the trophy.

A huge thank you to Bucks Culture, and - of course - to our amazing volunteer cast and crew, who made the tour such a rousing (and award-winning!) success. We'll have updates on next year's festival soon, plus news of a very special return to our production of 'Richard II'...

Audio Drama Hub Podfest 2024

Hello there!

I'll be at Podfest in Wycombe on the 2nd Nov! There'll be an adaptation of one of the Professor's adventures, so if you missed the walking plays, haven't listened to any of the audios, or even if you have and can't wait to see her again, please do come along!

I'm also performing as a trickster goddess in another live show as well.

Throughout the day there's a chance to learn from and meet other audio drama professionals. The key note speaker is from Big Finish and Doctor Who! You can also take workshops in voice acting and editing for anyone interested in starting to work in audio drama.

Baked Off!

Baked Off! is a new 8-part comedy drama that is currently crowdfunding.

A group of would-be bakers join a zoom class to learn how to make sourdough bread, but life has a way of interfering with their culinary skills.

Each week they strive, fail and strive better, supporting and challenging themselves and each other as their private lives take unexpected twists and turns.

Before Season 6 launches later this autumn, I wanted to shout about my beloved Professor, in the hope more ears can find her and fall in love with her.

The Chronicles of Professor Chronomier follow the time traveling adventures of Victorian explorer and inventor, Elizabeth Chronomier in an audiobook format, where I narrate and perform every character.

Each season is loosely inspired by a literary genre, and there's plenty of plot twists and a wonderfully crafted story arc by Dario Knight.

S1 - The Tudor Assassin, adventure calls in Elizabethan London. S2 - Temper and Temporality a romance, (with hints of gothic) during the lost years of Jane Austen. S3 - The Cottage on the Moor - dystopian future. S4 - From the Depths - a crime noir with Oscar Wilde. S5 - Goddess of Victory - a tragedy of revenge in Roman Britain.

In between each season, there is also a standalone extended episode.

I'm sitting here carmalizing onions and boiling eggs for my salad and just....thinkin about the most recent lightning bottler.

It didn't strike me as a favorite the first time I listened to it, but on my second listen, it's really sticking with me

there's just something about Richard being writers block in an amusing but very real way and the narrator being dedicated to their craft and determined to write this story (which is inside a story) and I have been really struck by it all.

The description of the ritual at the end was so eloquently done in an almost memerizing way. My first listen I sat in my car. Listened to that scene. And then rewound it once. And then rewound it another time.

Like it FELT so very...not real, but I think vivid would be a good word for it. The image of the black ink and richard and emily rushing in afterwards was so very good.

damn. I really like the lightning bottler. Someone else listen to it so i can ramble about it please.
