Erie Forage & Mushrooms
503 posts
This is my foraging and mushroom log. Almost all the mushrooms and plants are from upper northwest PA , I also post homesteading, gardening and orchard info.**Mushrooms can be deadly. This is not a mushroom ID site. Verify mushrooms using multiple sources, and don't trust the Internet alone. **

Waited a day to be sure, but looks like the pear blossoms beat the frost.

This is my favorite dwarf pear tree, and it’s flowering. I decided to take the evening shot because there’s going to be a frost. I’m not going to cover the tree just because it could probably use a year off from production. So I figure if it frosts, it’s just a way to give it rest. I wanted to get a shot just in case the flowers drop.

Wood Nettles - When they are this young they’re worth using as spinach substitute. Much bigger and they are still good for tea but start to get bitter and fibrous when just eaten. Obviously be careful picking it has a sting. Jewel Weed is not up yet so baking soda and water paste if you get stung.

Dryad’s Saddle, I’ve tried every which way to cook it, and I have never got it to taste good. I like the smell, but not the consistency.
