Wheel Innovations That Literally 'Reinvent the Wheel'
Tumblr media
Being used by billions of people, the wheel is probably the most pivotal part of everybody’s life. No matter what mode of transport, one thing will surely be common in them and that will be the usage of a wheel. The steel wheel that we see today was not the same decades ago. The present-day wheel has reached this point through centuries of development. The introduction of using a rubber tyre over the wheel is the most drastic change in the usage of a wheel. Not only air-filled tyres made it safer but enhanced the life of the wheel. To further enhance safety, the government of India mandated the BIS certification for every tyre. Manufacturers have to meet the set standards by the government.
Moving on to the design of the wheel, then people believe that the current design is perfect. On the other hand, there are people who are spending day and night in research to bring better innovations to the wheel. With that in mind, below are some of the mind-blowing breakthroughs in wheel inventions that change the way how we think about wheels.
1 The Folding Wheel
For years, people believed that wheels can only have one shape. The perfectly round shape not only makes the ride smoother but reduces energy consumption as well. However, a German designer named Andrea Mocellin has created a universal wheel that can be used on both cycles as well as wheelchairs. But, that is not the major breakthrough. Rather than keeping its perfect round shape, the wheel can be collapsed into a rugby-ball shape and carried around when not in use.  The foldable wheel is called Revolve Wheel and comes in a 26-inch size.
2 Wheel that can Soak Up Shock
Every modern-day car comes with a great suspension system that absorbs the shock faced by cars due to uneven roads. With this wheel invention, the work of these suspension systems can be reduced. Called the SoftWheel, this wheel has the ability to soak up major vibrations and it can be used in cars, bicycles and wheelchairs. Made with 3-arm suspension technology, the SoftWheel stays strong on the flat surface and absorbs the shocks whenever it faces any obstacle.
3 Shape Transforming Wheel
The wheel is considered one of the biggest inventions of humankind solely because of its shape. The round shape helped in the transportation and movement of not just humans, but raw materials as well. The Ground X-Vehicle Technologies is a major project by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency where they developed a shapeshifting wheel. The wheel can itself change the shape from round to triangular depending on the environment. The development is done for combat vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency during a battle.
4 Healing Wheel
Depending on the road conditions and the driver, the wheel gets damaged the more it is used. On the other hand, scientists from Harvard John A Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences claim to have created a special rubber for tyres that can heal itself as it is used. They claim that the material that they developed is as sturdy as the traditional rubber used in the material and can repair itself. Though the tyre is not yet made, the material is there and the tyre can be launched in the near future.
Now you know about the wheel innovations that have the potential to change the way we drive. Some of these innovations can soon come into the mainstream media and will be used by legions of people. Till then the manufacturers have to stick to the old ways and obtain BIS certification for the tyres in India. In case you also want to attain the certification, then getting consultation from a BIS consultant in Delhi can be beneficial.

This Independence Day Learn How the Indian Standard for National Flag of India Was Formulated By ISI
Tumblr media
The year 2021 marks the 75th Independence Day of India from British rule. Innumerable sacrifices were made for the freedom of our motherland and this day is celebrated to pay a tribute to those scared souls who lost their lives so that every one of us can live a life of freedom.
Without a doubt, achieving independence from brits were not at all easy and our people had their ups and downs. However, the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi was consistent that they will not rest until the nation is free from any other country’s rule.
During his rebellion against British rule, Gandhi used several flags to summon support for freedom. Once the fight was over and the rulers decided to leave India free, the first flag was introduced in the constituent assembly. The day the entire nation celebrates Independence Day was the day when the flag was made official.
Tricolour
No matter to which nation it is referred, the tricolour mostly refers to the Indian flag. In school, we are always taught about the significance of these three colours along with the Ashok Chakra that rests at the centre. However, there are certain rules and laws of having a national flag that is amended timely to ensure that the respect of the flag remains utmost.
Back before 2002, citizens of the nation were prohibited from using the national flag with the exception of national days. The entire notion was changed by the apex court in 2002 so that private citizens can use the flags.
To ensure that the respect of the flag is maintained, and national bodies use the right flag, the Bureau of Indian Standards has set the specifications of the flag. Every flag must follow the dimensions set by the BIS or else strict action can be taken against the bodies.
Material to be Used on the Flag
As Mahatma Gandhi is an unforgettable name in the freedom fight of the country, the flag is a tribute to his dedication towards the nation. He always used Khadi clothes and made the material popular. With that in mind, the national flag is always made by using Khadi. The only body allowed to manufacture the flag is Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission who has given this authority to Karnataka Khadi Garmodyoga Samyukta Sangha. Being the only ISI certified body for Indian National Flag, they have to comply with the set standards by BIS and have a BIS certification as well.
Specifications of the National Flag
Aspect Ratio
One of the most important factors of the national flag is the aspect ratio. With a standardized ratio, the flag will always have the right appearance no matter what the size. The BIS has set the aspect ratio of the flag to 3:2 where 3 is the breadth and 2 is the length. Sometimes, special occasions demand the flag size other than the prescribed ratio. To ensure the significance of the occasion along with the respect of the national flag, different ratios of the flag can be used.
Colour
Tricolour is the name given to the Indian flag due to its three colours. All these three colours used in the flag should have equal width and should be rectangular. When it comes to the colour, then the top should be India saffron, the middle should be white and the bottom colour should be India green. The centre should have an Ashoka Chakra colour in navy blue.
Ashoka Chakra
Ashoka Chakra signifies the self-reliability of Indians which was the ultimate goal of the father of the nation. When it comes to its inclusion in the flag, then the Ashoka Chakra should be in the middle of the white panel. Coming to its spokes, then it should have exactly 24 spokes with equal space. Moreover, it should be visible on both sides.
Dimensions
With respect to the aspect ratio, the dimensions of the flag are also set by the BIS. Indian flag can only be manufactured in these dimensions.
Flag size Number             Length                 Width                 Tolerance, Percent
1                            6300                     4200                     ±1.5
2                            3600                     2400                     ±1.5
3                            2700                     1800                     ±1.5
4                            1800                     1200                     ±1.5
5                            1350                     900                       ±1.5
6                            900                       600                       ±1.5
7                            450                       300                       ±1.5
8                            225                       150                       ±1.5
9                            150                       100                       ±1.5
Whether it is essential products or the national flag, BIS has always ensured that every major item is standardized, and manufacturers comply with their rules and regulations. Apart from the KKGSS, nobody can manufacture or attain BIS certification for the national flag. However, there are plenty of products where a BIS consultant in Delhi can help in getting the certification. Whether it is a national day or a regular day, always respect the national flag and the citizens of the nation.

How the Tail Lamp is an Important Safety Aspect of Your Vehicle?
Tumblr media
A vehicle comes with plenty of features. Some of them are essential for working for the automobile whereas others are just to make the driving experience better. While driving at night, the main issue that prevails is the lack of visibility. There are plenty of roads where there is insufficient lighting that pose threat to the vehicle drivers and passengers.
Here, headlamps are used to enhance the light during night conditions and boosting night visibility. However, these only have a limited range and cannot go far enough to notice a vehicle in the front. Along with headlamps, tail lamps are also present in every vehicle to ensure that the driver behind knows about the distance between the vehicles.
Two-in-One Purpose
The tail lamp serves two different purposes. The basic function is turned on along with the headlamps. This basic feature of these lamps is to help the driver behind in analysing the distance between the vehicles at night to prevent a collision. There is another very important feature of these lamps which is activated only when the driver applies brakes. Sudden push on the brake pedal could lead to a massive accident if the driver behind fails to notice the slowing down of the front vehicle. The brake light allows the driver behind to take the right action at the right time.
Size of the Vehicle
In a two-wheeler, there is only one tail lamp whereas other vehicles have a pair on either edge. In addition to the distance, the tail lamp allows the other drivers to find out the size of the vehicle. With the right size judgement, the driver can calculate the area required to overtake or just maintain the right gap between the vehicles.
Without a doubt, tail lamps are a highly essential feature in every vehicle. The primary motive of these lamps is to keep the driver behind the vehicle aware of the actions that the front vehicle is taking.  In case a tail lamp has malfunctioned, then the vehicle owner should not delay the repair of the tail lamp to avoid compromising the on-road safety of the vehicle during the night. Certain lamps and bulbs require BIS certification where appropriate testing is done on the product as well as the manufacturing unit. A BIS consultant in Delhi can boost up your chances of getting this certification easily. Making the road safe for people inside and outside the vehicle is the reason for BIS certification and installation of the right tail lamps.

Importance of IS 13252 Part 1 in IT Equipment and Electronic Products
Tumblr media
Technology is advancing rapidly. The highly competitive IT equipment market is in the demand presently. Being a centre of attraction of the majority of the organisations as well as the customers, the Bureau of Indian Standards has made it mandatory to have a BIS certification mark on the products.
The introduced standard is IS 13252: Part 1 which included a significant variety of IT equipment and products that can directly affect the usability of the consumers. Having this certification means that the product has passed all the safety checks and meets the set standard by the authority.
Not many people know it, but such equipment can be hazardous for usage if they do not meet the quality standards.
Protection from Hazards
The foremost reason for the introduction of this standard by BIS is to protect people from potential hazards from using such products. Now you must be thinking what can a gadget cause damage. The answer is that there are plenty of ways how IT equipment can pose threat to the user.
Radiation
The invisible enemy of living beings, radiation is something that you cannot see or feel, but can damage the body from the inside. Equipment can emit radiation in the form of infra-red, radio, lasers, and ultraviolet. These can damage the DNA and cause other issues as well. During the test, BIS ensures that the radiation levels are low and safety steps are taken.
Electric Shock
Electric shock is a major cause of injuries while working on IT equipment. In order to obtain BIS certification, all the areas which are vulnerable to shocks must be covered with locked covers and control on the overflow of energy.
Overheating
Several IT parts are known to have high temperatures even under normal circumstances. Coming into contact with such parts can lead to burns, and declining in safety. Several steps are taken to avoid overheating including warning signs on the potentially hot areas, and control overheating with cooling systems.
Structural Issues
The body of the equipment should be made in such a way that it does not cause harm to the users. Areas like sharp edges, and unstable parts while moving the item can lead to severe injuries. The body should be made in such a way that there are no sharp edges, and the body is highly stable while using and moving. In addition to that, there should be markings on the areas where user access is not possible.
What are the Products Included in IS 13252: Part 1?
Under the IS 13252: Part 1, there is plenty of IT equipment included and those are:
Data Processing Equipment
Routers
Data Network Equipment
Mail Processing Machines
ATMs
Telephone Machines
Photoprinting Machines
Media Equipment
Personal Computers
Printers
Calculators
Electronic Retail Equipment
Telecommunication Network Infrastructure Equipment
Postage Equipment
These were some of the products and categories that are included in this standard. However, the list is not limited to just these products. If you want to attain all the information or assistance regarding IS 13252: Part 1, then you can connect with a BIS consultant in Delhi who will help you in all the steps of the process.

Know the Importance of BIS CRS Registration
The Bureau of Indian Standards is a government body that sets and monitors the quality of the products sold in India. For some products, it is the preference of the manufacturer that whether they want to attain the BIS certification mark or not.
However, there are certain products where no such choice is given to the manufacturers as it is mandatory to obtain this certification for all such products. The BIS has created a specific category called the Compulsory Registration Scheme or CRS. All the products mentioned in this scheme are required to meet the set standards and obtain the certification if they are going to launch in the Indian market.
What is CRS?
CRS is an initiative by the government of India to ensure the high quality of essential products. It was first launched in 2012 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology with just fifteen categories of products. Presently, more than fifty product categories come under the CRS to make sure that the consumers get superior quality products.
Why CRS is Important?
For Manufacturers
Every manufacturer, factory owner, or importer planning to launch a product that comes under the CRS have to attain the BIS certification and meet the set standards. Without this certification, selling any such product is illegal in India and is a punishable offence. Applicants should comply with the standards and follow the guidelines set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Now this standard has become a sign of trust among the customers which is why products with BIS certification mark are preferred by the customers.
For Consumers
The entire motive of introducing CRS was to give better products to the customers. As the products have to meet the high standards set by the BIS, customers are sure to get the best products in the market. In addition to that, if any consumer feels that the product they bought was not up to the mark but had a certification mark, then they can formally lodge a complaint to the BIS and they will investigate the issue. Moreover, if BIS finds an issue with the product, then they can cancel their license and remove the products from the market as well.
Undeniably, CRS holds utmost importance for a manufacturer and the consumer. By using the right practices, they can get the best product in the market. A BIS consultant in Delhi can provide the best assistance necessary to fulfil the set requirements and comply with the regulations of the BIS.

How Mandatory Indian Standard (IS: 15844: 2010) on Sports Footwear Will Help Consumers?
Tumblr media
Footwear is an essential item without which no one can leave their home. The purpose of the introduction of footwear was to keep the feet safe from sharp materials on the ground. Though they were once luxury, now they are as common as they can get. No matter what you do, footwear is the item that you will always use.
Even though footwear does not affect the performance of a regular person, but the entire career of a sportsperson can be hampered by using the wrong footwear. A good foot movement not only depends on the athlete but on the shoes as well. The government of India along with the Bureau of Indian Standards introduced The Footwear Made from Leather and Other Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2020 which makes it mandatory for all the footwears including sportswear to obtain BIS certification.
The order was introduced on 27th October 2020 and is set to become effective on 1st July 2021. There are several ways how this order is going to affect consumers.
Safer Footwear
When it comes to sportspersons, then they can never compromise with their safety. For them, there is nothing worse than an injury. A poorly made sports footwear can lead to career-threatening injury, especially for beginner-level athletes. With this order, the sports footwear will be safer and reduce the probability of injuries.
Enhanced Performance
Another benefit of this order is the better performance of the players. For better footwork, better sports footwear is necessary. The higher the quality of the footwear, the better the athlete is going to perform. All the BIS certified footwear will have superior quality and meet the set standards which will support the performance of the players.
More Variety
Presently, the Indian market of sports gear is dominated by only a few manufacturers. The reason behind this is that customers only trust these manufacturers as they provide good quality gear. Due to this reason, sportspersons never try other companies. However, as every manufacturer have to attain BIS certification for sports footwear, the variety of these products is going to increase in the coming time. Newcomers will have a broad range of companies to choose from.
Every footwear has to undergo a BIS registration process so that it can be sold in the Indian markets. These were the major benefits that the customers will have after the introduction of this order. On the other hand, the manufacturers have to comply with the standards set by BIS.

Different Tyre Noises: Important Note for Drivers
Tumblr media
Tyre noises can be annoying as well as dangerous for the driver as well as the passengers. Not only they are a distraction while driving, but they can also be a cause of a road accident. The majority of the drivers listen to the noise coming from the tyres of their vehicle, but they fail to understand it. Everything happens because of a reason and the same applies to tyres as well.
BIS has made specific guidelines and set standards for tyre manufacturers which they have to comply to manufacture and sell tyres in India. Tyres have to attain BIS certification and ensure that they are safe to use and meet the desired standards to avoid road accidents due to poor quality tyres. Here are the different tyre noises and how a driver should handle the situation where they notice any such noise.
1 Tire Hum
A tire hum is the commonest noise that a driver notices. Though every car will produce such sound and in most cases it not something to worry about. However, you notice a louder tire hum than usual, then you know that it is because of some underlying problem. In most of the cases, the cause of tire hum is either that the tyre is running at a greater speed than it was made for or it has more load than it is capable of. The solution to this noise is using the right tyres as per your usage. For instance, use tyres capable of handling more load and speed than you require.
2 Popping
Popping is an uncommon noise and is occurred when the trapped compressed air between the pattern and the tread escapes while driving. The reason is bigger tread blocks of tyres especially the one made for off-roading. The way to avoid this noise is by picking the tyres with smaller tread blocks that still offer great road grip.
3 Squealing
Squealing noises are mostly noticed in corners or turning. When the tyre rubs against the road, it produces a squealing sound that is very hard to go unnoticed. In most of the cases, the reason behind this is improperly inflated tyres. Make sure to fill the tyre with appropriate PSI and not more than that and the problem will be gone. However, if it still persists, then it could be because of the other cause of the same problem: Misaligned Wheels. All you have to do is take your car to a garage and get the wheels aligned for better road grip and longevity of the tyres.
Understanding tyre noises is as much important as picking new tyres for the vehicle as well. To get a solution, you must first understand the problem. Picking the right tyre is not a complicated task. The government has mandated BIS certification for every tyre in India and the manufacturers have to follow the BIS registration process. BIS certified tyres will be safer to use and have superior quality too.

Tumblr media
Whether it is a household or a commercial space, refrigerators are found everywhere. Being an essential item for every major place, refrigerators should meet the right quality so that every consumer gets a high-quality product. The Bureau of Indian Standard has control over the quality of the essential products sold in India as they set the standards of quality and monitor the manufacturers to ensure that they provide products as per the standards.
The Refrigerating Appliances (Quality Control) Order 2020 is among the new orders introduced by the BIS. This order makes it mandatory for every refrigerating appliance manufacturer to obtain BIS certification. Presently, the deadline to attain the certification is 1st January 2022.
With the introduction of this order, the quality of refrigerating appliances is surely going to increase in the Indian market. The manufactures have to comply with the standards set by the BIS. Not only that, but the consumer has another place where they can lodge a complaint if they believe that they have received a product with compromised quality.
With the BIS certification mark on the product, the consumer can raise a complaint against the manufacturer, and they will take the right action. Though it is a rare case as most of the manufacturers comply with all the standards. The BIS mark is the mark of trust for the consumers. Having this mark on the refrigerating appliances will automatically make the consumer believe in the product and have peace of mind that the refrigerator will be of high quality.
The BIS has brought three Indian Standards under the mandatory certification scheme: IS 1476 (Part 1): 2000 for household refrigerating appliance – refrigerators with or without low temperature, IS 7872:2020 for freezers, and IS 15750:2006 for Household frost-free refrigerating appliances –Refrigerators cooled by internal forced air circulation.
Every manufacturer has to comply with the standards and obtain the certification before 1st January 2022. BIS consultants in Delhi can not only let the manufacturers attain the certification but can also boost up the process to minimize time consumption to complete the process. With the right information on the Indian standards, these consultants can help in understanding the new guidelines of BIS as well.

Is Each Product Required to Be Marked with BIS Standard Mark?
Tumblr media
Bureau of Indian Standards is the body responsible for setting the standards of the products meant for Indian markets; be it domestic manufacturing or foreign imports. Since its inception, BIS has made mandatory for several essential products to attain BIS certification which ensures that all such products have superior quality.
Every manufacturer has to make sure that their products meet the set standards so that they can be sold in India. Recently, BIS has introduced the Automobile Wheel Rim Component Order, 2021 which states that every wheel rim falling in the category of 2W, 3W, e-car, and e-rickshaw needs to have mandatory BIS certification.
Being a new rule, there have to be several questions popping in the minds of vehicle rim manufacturers and one of them being whether every product requires a BIS standard mark printed on it or not.
Every product that has successfully obtained BIS certification should have the mark before it can be sold to the public. Even if the product has obtained the certification, it cannot be sold without the mark. Being a mark of trust for the consumers, it is mandatory to have this mark of each certified product.
Embedded Mark
When it comes to creating the mark on the product, then it should be embedded in such a way that it should not be easy to remove, scratched or modified. BIS has kept all these factors in mind and issues guidelines to ensure that every manufacturer complies with the rules and regulations even after obtaining the certification mark. Every certification by BIS comes with validity. Upon expiry of the registration mark, no good, system, or service can use the mark. Doing so can invite a hefty fine from BIS.
Cutting it short, it is necessary to have a BIS mark on every certified product. Every Indian consumer has trust in the BIS certification mark and having it on the product will surely help in boosting the product. A BIS consultant in Delhi is the appropriate way to attain this certification of vehicle wheel rims as they will be aware of the new rules and regulations that come with the act.

7 Mandatory Indian Standards for Toys Certification
Tumblr media
Toys are extremely special for every child. Not only they make their childhood memorable, but some of the toys combine playing with learning as well. When it comes to toys in the Indian market, then Chinese toys surely have a dominance. The sole reason for being cheap price and good functionality.
However, high quality and extremely low price cannot be found in the same place. The majority of the China-made toys are made with poor raw materials and have a low quality that gives them their trademark low price. Such toys pose threat to children as the products can be harmful to them.
To control this factor, the government of India has made it mandatory for all the toys to obtain BIS certification before selling them in India: be it domestically made or imported from any other nation.
Bureau of Indian Standards has classified toys into two different categories. The first one is non-electric toys, and the other one is electric toys. Both these categories are self-explanatory. Presently, there are seven Indian standards mandatory for toys certification and those are mentioned below:
IS 9873 : Part 1 : 2019 - Safety of toys: Part 1 safety aspects related to mechanical and physical properties (Fourth Revision)
IS 9873 : Part 2 : 2017 - Safety of toys: Part 2 flammability (Third Revision)
IS 9873 : Part 3 : 2020 - Safety of Toys Part 3 Migration of Certain Elements ( Third Revision )
IS 9873 : Part 4 : 2017 - Safety of toys: Part 4 swings, slides and similar activity toys for indoor and outdoor family domestic use.
IS 9873 (Part 7) : 2017 - Safety of Toys Part 7 Requirements and Test Methods for Finger Paints
IS 9873 (Part 9) :2017 - Safety of Toys Part 9 Certain Phthalates Esters in Toys and Children’s Products
IS 15644:2006 - Safety of Electric Toys
Both electric and non-electric toys will now need mandatory BIS certification and the BIS has already started the process. BIS consultants in Delhi can aid manufacturers and importers in on-site verification as well as arranging the testing facilities at the BIS laboratories.

How BIS Standardization Efforts for Smart Cities Digital Infrastructure?
Tumblr media
The prime minister of India Mr Narendra Modi announced that India is going to have 100 smart cities which will have top-notch services and provide the best urban living experience. Although a smart city is a fairly new concept and not many people are aware of what it will provide, still they are quite popular presently.
The perfect blend of future-proof technology, superior infrastructure, high economic growth, and social engagement are the factors that will be included in the new smart city project.
Being a far-famed project, there has to be standardisation of the digital infrastructure. Bureau of Indian Standards is given the responsibility of fulfilling this substantial task. Creation of new standards for a thing that is never done in the country requires sheer efforts. BIS is taking all the necessary steps to create the standards for digital infrastructure of smart cities in India.
#1 Formation of Committees
BIS has formed several committees to create standards for smart cities. For technical factors, a civil engineering department of BIS is created. Apart from that, there is a LITD 28 Smart Infrastructure sectional committee that develops a set of standards for digital infrastructure that will be implemented across all the smart cities. These are just a few of the numerous committees that are being formed by BIS.
#2 Public Comments
BIS takes special attention to the public suggestions and opinions especially in setting the standards. When it comes to standardizing smart cities, then BIS has also made IS 18000 draft for public comments. The draft was open for two months inviting public comments. Afterwards, they were being reviewed by the expert team of BIS giving them more idea for setting the right standards.
As per recent reports, the BIS certification of the digital infrastructure of smart cities will be voluntary. However, there will be a minimum standard for every sector to ensure better quality. The road maps are being created and updated allowing the experts to have a better idea of the smart city. Standards made by BIS will be made by keeping in mind several factors including economic and social conditions of the city.

How BIS Certification is Helping India Make International Presence with Products?
Tumblr media
India the seventh largest nation by land and the second most populated nation in the world. With these high numbers, the production value of locally made products is surely high as well. However, Indian products were not as popular in the international market as they are today. The reason being is the inferior quality of products.
Some of the Indian brands compromise on the quality to earn some extra revenue. With inferior products, not only the customers get affected, but the international image of the nation declines as well.
Everything changed when the Bureau of Indian Standards came into action. BIS creates a standard for the quality of the products. Every product made in India or sold in India has to meet the set standards before they can reach the Indian market. Every product falling under the compulsory registration scheme has to attain BIS certification.
Before issuing this certification, BIS runs vigorous tests on the products to ensure that they meet the set standards. With the help of BIS, the quality of the product made and sold in the Indian markets have significantly improved.
Having better quality products means higher satisfaction levels of customers and better goodwill of the nation. Now moving on to the international image of India, BIS is making Indian products better. As mentioned above, Indian products were not internationally recognized due to poor quality. However, BIS has helped in improving its quality which ultimately led to international recognition of the Indian made products.

What is the Role of a BIS Consultant in Delhi in Obtaining BIS Certification?
Tumblr media
Bureau of Indian Standards or BIS is a step by the government of India to ensure the products sold in India are of high-quality. Several products are tested by BIS and if they meet the set quality standards, they are given BIS certification. This certification states that the products are safe to use and have the right quality.
Several products require mandatory BIS registration before they can be sold in India. On the other hand, there are innumerable products where getting this certification is entirely voluntary. However, this certification has become a sign of high-quality product and trust.

However, a BIS consultant is aware of all the necessary documents and steps required to submit the application correctly.
3 Testing Assistance and Resolving Queries
Once the application is accepted, the manufacturer has to ensure that they meet the right quality of the products. Though most of the applicants have already met the requirements, but the consultants provide the right guidelines which help them in clearing the tests conducted by the BIS officials. Moreover, if any of the clients have queries; general or related to their application, then all these consultants are more than happy to clear them to maintain utmost transparency.

Non-BIS Certified Helmets to be Banned from the Indian Market
Two-wheelers are surely among the quickest ways to travel in a city, but they possess a few risks of injury as well. However, these injuries can be drastically reduced when such vehicles are driven as advised. On Indian roads, most of the people either do not wear a helmet or wear poor quality helmets.
Such conditions can put more risk to the life of the rider as they become vulnerable to life-threatening conditions. With that thing in mind, the government has decided to bring two-wheeler helmets under BIS certification scheme.
From June 2020 onwards, the government will put a formal ban on the helmets without having ISI registration mark. This mark ensures that the helmet manufacturer has met the desired quality standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards and are entirely safe to use.
The plans to bring helmets under a mandatory registration scheme was proposed years ago, but the government was yet to make a decision. Recently, the government has accepted the proposal to manufacture and sell only certified helmets in the Indian market.
Without a doubt, the move is a positive one as it will reduce the number of fatalities in a road accident that was caused due to negligence of the rider or poor quality of the helmets. More than 43k people died in road accidents as they were not wearing a helmet or similar protective gear while riding.
As per recent reports, the demand for two-wheeler helmet is going to increase drastically as people will be more inclined towards getting helmets with ISI mark. It is believed that Indians will require over 100 million helmets annually making it a huge target for the industry to complete.
For the manufacturers, then they have to meet all the necessary standards set by the BIS to ensure that their helmets are completely safe for the people. BIS Consultants Delhi will help all such manufacturers in meeting the necessary requirements and understand the entire process so that their products can reach in the market. Wearing a helmet is surely the responsibility of every rider as it will save their life in any major road accident.

Bureau of Indian Standards Denies Extension of Deadline for BIS Registration of Toys
With a motive to boost the Indian economy, the prime minister Narendra Modi has asked all the toy manufacturers to boost up the production and produce quality products. As India is among the top importers of toys from China, the Indian toy industry is more or less dependent on Chinese manufacturing.
Importing toys from other nations may provide India with a little bit of import tax, but it is not going to increase the downfall of the economy due to recent situations. The best way to do that is by manufacturing and using homeland goods rather than importing.
The government of India decided to make sure that all the toys manufactured or imported in India should have excellent quality instead of the cheap quality toys by China. To make sure that the goods that reach the children are safe, it has made mandatory for all the toys made for children 14 years or below to have BIS registration.
This move changed the way how the toy industry worked, and the implementation of a new system requires a bit of time. Though the government of India gave a six-month notice to all the toy manufacturers, dealers, and imports, but the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown took away all the time.
It takes about 120 days for a domestic manufacturer to attain BIS registration and 180 days for foreign manufacturers. Though the process can be made easier with BIS registration consultants, still it takes a bit of time. The coronavirus pandemic caused a hindrance in the process making it complicated for the manufacturers to get the certification.
Due to this reason, All India Toys Federation which represents 59 toy associations all over India requested the government of India to extend the deadline of 1st September 2020 to attain BIS certification. They have stated that the country consists majority of small and medium toy manufacturers and they need 18-24 months more to get their products certified. However, the government has decided to decline the extension and go with the same deadline.
Post this date, no manufacturer, dealer, or importer can sell toys made for children 14 years or below in Indian grounds. If anyone found guilty of selling them, then they will be treated as a criminal under the BIS act, 2016.
To boost Indian toy manufacturers, the government has also increased the import duty from the previous 20% to 60%. Importers feel that this is a big jump on the cost, but the motive behind this surge is to decline dependency on Chinese toys and increase toy production in India. The deadline to attain the certification remains the same and the manufacturer can only sell toys after they have attained the certification.
