What do you think about David Dorn? A 77 year old black cop that was shot and left to die on the streets? Does black lives matter include him?
(As a preface, I would like to say that I’m not Black, and so if I get anything wrong here and you’re Black, let me know and I’ll change it.)
I would say of course David Dorn and other Black police officers are included in Black Lives Matter. You can be Black and still be a cop, and in fact, a lot of the reform that’s actually happening across the country is happening because of Black police captains and officers.
The issue is, the system is inherently built so that police officers can murder and terrorize Americans without repercussion, and this is because police unions broker deals with cities and police departments as a whole. This means that Black cops oftentimes face discrimination within their own departments, as well as the systematic oppression they face for being Black in their civilian lives. Even if they try making change within their departments, this change is often impossible to make because of the regulations when it comes to firing and punishing cops for breaking the law.
One example is that of Cariol Horne, who stopped another officer from beating and choking a man who was already handcuffed. There were twelve officers present, and she was the only one who intervened. For potentially saving the life of the then 59-year-old man Eric Mack, she was fired, charged with obstruction of justice, and still isn't receiving her pension, despite having the charges dismissed because she “stopped a criminal act from occurring.”
There can be Black cops who abuse their power, sure. But many of them are also trying to make changes within their departments, yet are suffering from the repercussions of this because of the discrimination they face for their Blackness, when they should be being praised for standing up against a system that has been infiltrated by white supremacists for years. That article was published four years ago. This isn’t anything new, but nothing is changing.
So yeah, Black Lives Matter is inclusive of Black police officers. And besides, being Black isn’t something you choose to do. Being a cop, is. We need to stand up for every Black person, including those who are police officers, because that’s the way that we make change.

No altar, no belief, no holy book, neither the Qur’an nor the Bible nor the others, have ever been able to reconcile the rich and and the poor, the exploiter and the exploited. And if Jesus himself had to take the whip to chase them from his temple, it is indeed because that is the only language they hear.

White people, if you can stand to watch and share videos of Black people dying and being killed on social media platforms, but you cry or can’t stand watching the deaths of other white people, then you aren’t a good ally.
If someone has asked you to stop sharing these videos, and you haven’t stopped, then you aren’t a good ally.
If you haven’t taken steps to address and acknowledge your own biases towards people of color and your own complicity in the problem, but you’re posting black squares on Instagram and talking about it on twitter without taking any real action, then you aren’t a good ally.
If you say Black Lives Matter, but then feel the need to turn around and add, “But Blue/All Lives Matter, too,” then you aren’t a good ally, because that isn’t the point of this. The point is that Black lives are inherently undervalued and maltreated by America’s government and justice system, and that Black Lives Matter shouldn’t be something that needs to be said.
If you have to tell people that you’re a good ally just so that you can win some brownie points, because you feel the need to have yourself acknowledged, too, then you aren’t a good ally. It’s as simple as that. This isn’t about you. You shouldn’t need to have positive affirmation to fight racism, end of story.
Stop sharing the videos of these murders, because it shouldn’t be necessary to see them and re-traumatize Black people in order to have some fucking compassion. Black people have already told you to stop, and said that the videos are traumatizing to watch, so stop already. I’m still seeing the videos crop up places they shouldn’t.

Literally how to save a life.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

FILIPINOS URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP: A CALL TO ACTION
Tumblr media
art by the wonderful @franshookie-art (DO NOT REPOST this image without their specific permission. check out more of their art on twitter.)
hi, all.. i know that a lot of our focus is on the BlackLivesMatter movement atm (which is wonderful and should’ve happened a long time ago), and i hate to distract you from that, but there’s something horrible happening in my country, the Philippines (yes, the one being lead by the so-called Filipino version of Donald Trump), right now.
our national government has passed a bill that’ll essentially take away our constitutional rights to freedom of speech and fair trial. it’s called the Anti-Terrorism Bill, but we’ve dubbed it Terror Bill. here’s a summary of what it entails:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you want to read the actual bill in its entirety, here’s a link to the official Senate of the Philippines website, where you can download a pdf copy. i’d like you to keep in mind the political climate in our country, though, and just how rampant corruption and police brutality are here.
it has already been passed by the Senate; all it needs is the House of Representatives’ approval, and it will be enforced. if you want to help stop this from happening, here are a few ways:
sign and share this petition. we’re so close to 300,000 signatures!!!
Tumblr media
send e-mails to the Office of the President and the Senate. there’s an e-mail protest currently going on. i have qualms about copy-pasting the message, but ultimately, this method is a lot more effective than petitions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these posters were made and posted by @tentenyukki on twitter.
educate yourself about the bill and how it will affect us when it’s approved. here are some news articles, editorials, and thought pieces to get you started:
🗞 gov’t endorsing/defending the bill: 1, 2, 3, 4
🗞 reactions to the bill’s passing: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
spread the word. on social media, our tags are #JunkTerrorBill and #JunkTerrorBillNow, but don’t stop there; tell your friends and family. please. people need to know this is happening.
your help could save the lives of millions of Filipinos, and we’d really, really appreciate it. i don’t usually ask for much, but when it comes to urgent issues like this, i can’t stay silent. unlike with BLM, i can speak my truth about this because i know personally what it’s like to be a Filipino citizen and to live in the Philippines. i hope it’s heard, and we keep an ounce of what little dignity we have as a “sovereign” country and rights as a “sovereign” people.
some of you might unfollow or get mad because this isn’t strictly studyblr content, but it’s not about aesthetic right now. i need your help. we need to hurry.
thank you for taking time to read! let’s uphold human rights together. #JunkTerrorBillNow!

No matter what religion you follow, no matter what your identity is, know that you’re valid. Muslims are always welcome in the LGBTAQ+ community.
To all the LGBTAQ+ Muslims, you are not dirty. You are not a walking contradiction. You are beautiful and incredible. I want all my Muslim brothers, sisters and friends to know this that Allah has created you the way you are, and you are a child of his.
He loves you for who you are and what you do. You are a perfectly valid human and deserve every bit of happiness this world has to offer. This year we celebrate Eid-ul-fiter in the month of Pride to acknowledge our existence and embrace our identity.

Young Black boy killed during Protests by White Supremacist!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black Protester Shot to Death Outside Omaha Bar
A young black protester was shot dead outside a bar in Omaha as unrest across the nation engulfed the Nebraska city, by white supremacist Jake Gardner.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old James Scurlock, whose father called for justice as the city braced for another night of chaos.
“Last night I lost a son, my wife lost a son, my kids lost a brother,” the grieving dad, who has the same name, told reporters at the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation Visitors Center, “His daughter lost a father. All because he decided to protest against racism.“
Unfortunetly, Prosecutors in Omaha, Nebraska, said Monday that the white bar owner will not face charges because in their minds “video evidence shows he acted in self defense” even though he had aimed the gun to a crowd of unarmed protesters and James only got involved to protect anyone form getting shot, resulting in losing his life, as both videos here show: video1/video2
The murderer, Jake Gardner, also owns 2 bars one of which was closed down because of an outpour of reviews stating they woulf often refuse service to black people and were known as violent racists. His other bar seems to be having the same issues.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Call county Attorney Don Kleine and Mayor Stotgert. Demand justice and demand Jake Gardner be held responsible for the murder!!
DON KLIENE: 402 444-7040
STOTHERT: 402-444-5555
OMAHA MAYOR HOTLINE: 402-444-5555
OPD: 402-444-5600
donate: Heres a GoFundMe link for his family

“Serve and Protect”
The police have blood on their hands.
If you can’t see that our country is becoming a fascist military state, then you’re either blind, or deliberately ignorant. The President is utilizing the military to suppress peaceful protests, silence people using their right to free speech, and strengthen his persona of a man who’s “tough on crime.” The alt-right is loving this, while moderate conservatives are staying silent, and people of color are dying as they fight for their right to live.
If you can vote in the November election, and you don’t want our democracy to become an autocracy, then vote blue.

Communism has failed in the past not because it’s impossible for humans to share resources, but because those in power will always want to hoard wealth and goods. It’s the same problem as with capitalism, under a different name, and both have the same result of a large proportion of people struggling to provide for their families while the upper classes prosper. This is why socialism, having a controlled market and social safety nets while still allowing for sole (not communal) possession of property and goods, works so well comparatively in developed countries, and when it fails, it’s because the social welfare programs are underfunded and poorly managed.
“Sharing” with others should be the basic requirement for being able to benefit from living in a free, democratic nation. Communism in practice is bad because it takes away the individual right to property, but a lot of conservatives mindlessly uphold capitalism as the ideal economic system because “it drives innovation” and “rich people and the free market will provide what the people need.” In reality, it’s been proven time and time again that those with resources will hoard the resources, like with the toilet paper hoarding during the pandemic, and with the massive failure that are trickle down economics and pharmaceutical companies.
Humans will always try to shortchange each other, regardless of the compassionate minority, and despite the fact that most religious texts and dogmas encourage donating to the poor and helping those who are disadvantaged in society. Conservative politicians encourage an “everyone for themselves” mentality that is directly opposed to the religious messages they also preach and uphold as the pinnacle of human morality.
The simple truth is that we need socialism (or some more moderate and controlled form of communism) in order to ensure that everyone is contributing equally to society, “from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.” Having shelter, clean water, nutritious food, and access to healthcare should be fundamental rights, not commodities that can be bought, sold, and controlled. There’s a difference between the proletariat being forced to share what they’ve rightfully earned, and the upper 1% being forced to share what they have massive amounts of and don’t need.
I haven’t even read any communist stuff my ideology is “share and be nice” like the first two rules of a kindergarten
