Hey remember when US and Russia was all like “We’re the best!!! We’ve won the space race!!!!” But India sent a kick-ass space probe to Mars and the whole mission was fuel efficient, costed less and a roaring success in the first try and then they were like “…..wait no that can’t be true” and still have the audacity to call us “underdeveloped” or only view us as a ‘third world country’? :)

For anyone who needs more info, the probe was called Mangalyaan (which literally means space probe vehicle) or Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and you can also get more information here and here

for real i think that ascribing even a significant percentage of kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk's feelings and actions towards each other as being motivated by romantic love will HEAVILY flatten your understanding of their relationship. there's so much going on there - projection, rivalry, frustration admiration, feelings of betrayal in many cases, comradeship, alienation, understanding, desire to save and protect - that loses a lot of its complexity through a standard shipping lens. and I'm saying this AS a yhk shipper. i think their relationship at the end of the story could meaningfully translate to a romantic connection but there's so many other things going on besides that!

I'm always so fucking depressed that lee seolwha isn't a super important character. she's got such interesting potential both on an immediate character level (she can be both poison and healer! you could do a ton with that) but on a more meta & relationship focused level there is SO much you can do with the fact that kim dokja views her solely as "yoo joonghyuk's lover." similarly to how yoo sangah has some stuff going on with her being typecast as a "heroine," there is a lot you can do and say with a woman who is defined by her role as a love interest to the protagonist. it's made even more juicy by the fact that she has nothing to do with yjh in this timeline!

the roles of women in fiction in general but self-insert power fantasy fiction for men in specific is just BEGGING to be focused in on here. can she have agency? what function does she play, as a pedestaled love interest? who is she outside of that? does it do her a disservice to only reduce her to her function as a healer? (yes.) all interesting questions. i wish the story would ask them
