sometimes i think about how constellations are an entirely man-made construct and don’t actually exhist inherently in nature. i mean, the universe just gave us stars, and we saw art and myths and stories in them. the capacity that humans have for seeing purpose in the incidental makes me realize just how lonely we are on this planet, desperately searching for meaning elsewhere in the universe.

There are too many subjects I want to study, too many languages I want to learn, too many books I want to read – why did my immense desire for knowledge end up in this fragile human form, with its needs for ‘sleep’ and ‘food’?

if you ever get the chance to live poetry instead of reading it, take it. i promise it’s worth it. shout the verses at the quiet night, laugh hysterically reciting a sonnet, fall to your knees in the middle of a soliloquy. don’t leave the words on their pages, make them burn your throat and shatter the universe.
