Brienne is not weak because she has emotions!!!

ISTG if I see one more “woke” article complaining that Brienne was cheapened in the last episode because she *gasp* CRIED in a house coat and not wearing armour because of a man, I am going to take a golden hand and bitchslap my way across the media.

People have emotions! Strong women aren’t strong because they do not get emotional! Strong women can love and be hurt by that love! Wearing armour does not make or break the strength of a woman! And if you call yourself a Brienne fan and THIS is what you think, then you should be ashamed of yourself.

That scene was not enraging because Brienne cried, and begged, as the love of her life, who she finally started HER FIRST relationship with, after years of pining and longing, was riding off to effectively die with his toxic ex. The scene was enraging because the writers destroyed what was special about Brienne and Jaime’s relationship, as well as their individual arcs (and sent some terrible messages along with it about abusive relationships and self-worth), in the name of TrAgEdY and SuBvErTiNg ExPeCtAtIoNs!!1!

Had Brienne been allowed to list all the good things Jaime had done, and pull him out of his pit of self-loathing, her tears and lack of armour would not have been an issue. Had her tears being caused by Jaime saying something other than sounded like “I have to go die with my toxic, psychotic sister rather than live with you”, when her entire character is based on a lifetime of rejection, scorn and thinking she cannot hope to be loved, her tears and lack of armour would not have been an issue.

Let’s stop complaining that shows ruin strong women because they allow them emotions and romance and sex. Let’s start worrying instead about how the need for shock and drama at all costs, and the desperate need to blindside and pull the rug out from under the audience, destroys meaningful character arcs and dynamics, spoils long awaited payoffs, and sends horrible messages, instead.

It’s the return of Larry as the joy of Jaime and Brienne’s consummation turns into ashes in our mouths by the end of the episode. We feel as bad as Ghost looks. We have some ideas for “I’ve never” questions, and hope that Jaime can math gestation enough to not have to wonder who’s the daddy. In the midst of all of our rage, we would, however, like to point out one thing: Varys is not a merman. Confirmed.
