Good morning 👋. Coming face to face with a Florida Tussock Moth caterpillar (Halysodita cinctipes) 😍. If you are trying to make sense out of this photo, this is the frontal view of the caterpillar. Its head is actually tilted down and is covered with the tuffs pointing downward 🙌. If you see a fuzzy bird instead that's okee 😀 but please do not touch it as this is one of Florida's venemous caterpillars 😱. The upper side of the caterpillar is covered with venemous silica (spines) which can easily enter the skin and break if touched (even a gentle touch is not advised😉). Prolonged pain and a sensation of burning and swelling in the affected area will follow. Most likely nothing more than that. Well if you are prone to getting eaten by birds this is a good way to stay off the menu 😝. So why do you think about this photo. Regards ✌. Good morning 🙌. Found this little Common Green Hopper (Hortensia similis) perched on a long blade of grass 😀. I am reviving this one from a few years ago and definitely prior to hurricane Irma 😭. I among my collection, this #photo is one of my favorites. Good morning ✌. Miami is riddled with 'herpers' looking for snakes and other reptiles and amphibians to shoot photos and videos with, either for official Scientific business or as a hobby. I find my click with bugs instead 😂. I do not handle them and mostly submit my findings to #iNaturalist as part of their global initiative toward Scientific research 🙌. So here is a Leafhopper (Rugosana sp.) I came face to face in during one of my #Entomology outings 😀. This tiny trooper held its ground in front of my #macron lens while I was 'woring with it' 👍. Good morning 👋. During one of my #photography outings, I found a little Phaon Crescent (Phyciodes phaon) perched on a blade of grass. For a split second it raised its wings as I was taking a #photo . Its body and head remaind mostly in focus while its wings came out blurred. Perhaps not the best photo to document a species but it came out really funky 😀.
