some design notes

they both have some tree-like motifs. nightmare’s tree roots tendrils thing is inspired by a drawing by @/xnzlian but I can’t find now rip. for dream i was really going for a “guy that sleeps in the forest” vibe. Nightmare’s outfit is mostly based on General Abbot from Sweet Tooth and Dream’s is based on both Omar and Xavier’s Green/Red Poncho outfits from Craig of the creek. Nightmare was a pain to color because he’s supposed to be like one color but that also confuses stuff. Also I accidentally colored Dream like the salmon run uniform from Splatoon

so. smiles in a cool way. this was originally gonna have more characters on here but I realized I was making this canvas ummm way too Fucking Huge so it’s in half now.

if you would care. a peak inside my weirdo dragon brain. fragmented infodump because writing out everything in extensive detail it will give me a cringe attack (cringe heart attack)

basically instead of the universe being code and computer and glitches and stuff it’s more like an enchanted story book kind of deal where each au is a different story. If you want you can imagine undertale as a choose your own adventure game instead of a video game and every au as fan fiction.

silkworm (ink) resides in a library-like space in the emptiness (aka a rethemed doodle sphere). he’s a sea/silk/rain but he’s technically an ancient dragon (like freedom from book 15) so it’s really not as clearly defined. his venom is completely useless (well it stings a little it definitely won’t kill anything though) but scares off potential enemie

daydream (dream) is an albino nightwing. him and his brother’s egg were animus touched so the two of them are like. half animus. prophet and mind reader which is always an unfortunate combo. when he gets turned to stone for like a billon years he gets tuned into an ice statue instead because nightmare;s an icewing

walrus (swap) is. A ice wing. lol. He shaves his spikes/claws down because he doesn’t want to actually stab anyone. was going to be sea/ice and I regret not going with that now lol..

rafflesia (fresh) was actually a pain in the butt to name. rafflesia flowers are parasitic rainforest plants so that’s why I went with it. anyways similar to the othermind they’re a magic plant thing that of course. parasitize mainly dragons. everyone thinks the sunglasses are some strange animus touched artifact because sunglasses don’t exist in medieval dragon times lol

mothball (error) is a silk/night. also a flame silk and breaths fire. And going with the whole “aus are books” thing being a fire breathing is really useful when you want to destroy a bunch of them. I said this in another post but he has 3 wings so struggles flying.

walrus (fell) is sky/ice but only has frost breath.um idk

eigengrau redesign ish (hey it’s the GUY IN THE PROFILE PICTURE)

backstory in a nutshell it’s an amalgam created to destroy and consume human souls so sort of same concept mettaton but more rabid starving dog. got a little hangry and ate a bunch of monster souls because turns out when you’re good at killing humans you’re also really good at killing monsters too. OOPS!! completely destroyed the underground in its universe and eventually escaped into the greater multiverse. DOUBLE OOPS!!

the brighter design on the bottom is sort of like its redemption arc and it joins the star sanses hooray

also finished archivist alphys’ design. partially responsible for eigengrau’s creation and pretty guilty about that whole disaster. fell into the core (instead of gaster) trying to escape eigengrau’s little murder spree and has been looking for a weapon across the multiverse and trying to create anything to destroy it ever since

she also misses her wife :(
