In the Christmas Special, alongside the Main Drama™ we have a scene soon after the de*th, in which Alfred offers to take some of Drummond’s posessions. He decides to take Edward’s books about Politics because he can’t bear the thought of something Edward loved so much going to a stranger. So he keeps the books, not really for any purpose other than that. But then he opens one, just out of curiosity. And all of a sudden, he begins to put all of his grief into a new passion, and spends all his time delving over the books. Because really, they’re a part of Drummond.

Eventually Drummond’s passion for politics becomes his own, and we see him a bit later walking into the Commons. At first he’s nervous, but the realisation that he’s fulfilling Drummond’s dream and carrying on this passion is beyond compare.

I want to go back to the happy days when I couldn’t wait for it to be Sundays so I could see Alfred and Drummond again and back to when they finally kissed that made me so happy ,it was such a beautiful moment that I’ll always remember,I miss them so much,I hate how they ended it.
