I have a bit of a weird question. I've been wanting to learn how to draw. I love your style and it looks like I got transported into a new world when I see your drawings. I just wanted to ask how did you find your style? What were your inspirations for drawing? Lastly, what would you recommend for a newbie like me who wants to learn how to start.
not a weird question at all, and thank you for the kind words on my art !!!! :3
my art style, as unfortunate of an answer as it is, has just developed over the past like decade of drawing. i read a lot of comics and they are definitely my main inspirations for art. jamie hewlett is my favorite artist of all time, another one of my favorites is katsuya terada.
but for inspo, my biggest go-to is comics and concept art books! i try to take elements from indie comics or like environmental/background concept art and implement that into my art in a way that fits.
and then for new artists, again, kind of shitty answer but: draw A Lot. theres no improvement when you dont draw, so even if you think its shitty or bad, keep doing it!!! also… Learning the basics is very, very helpful. learning perspective or anatomy doesnt seem like fun, but getting the basic concepts of both of those makes it so much easier to draw whatever you want. i thought i knew what i was doing and then i took classes on both anatomy and perspective and realized i actually didnt know a whole lot (not saying you need to take classes, i was just refusing to learn before)
im sorry if those werent the most helpful, specific, or revolutionary answers! im by no means a professional but i do appreciate the question nonetheless 🥲 and i hope that the advice aids you in some way on your art journey !!!

Hi im sorry to bother you, I just saw a blank account that seems to have stolen your art (the beautiful tit comic) and I wanted to report them but tumblr doesn't let me right now so I didn't really know what to do but I thought you should know
(The account is @lilianamary and I'm pretty sure it's a bot or something but yeah)

Happy New Year! What a way to start 2025, eh!?
I saw your art in D&P's video! Your art style is so lovely and you've captured the feelings that I've had about them. It's wild how as adults we turn back to the things we loved so dearly in our early teens.

Much love from a gay trans man who found himself over the years, while watching D&P.

thank you so much for the extremely kind words!! its been soooo heartwarming to have so many ppl resonate with my comic/phanart recently (i still havent been able to process it all lol)
and im also glad so many ppl have resonated/grown up w dnp in the same way i have! its comforting to know that theyve had a long-lasting (positive) effect on so many people :]

Dan’s voice when he reads “joy and pride”, then holding their chests, saying “aww”, pointing at the Dan and Phil growth part. Thank you for putting these feelings into words. 🥹
I bet Dan and Phil will save the comic to look at in more detail and talk to each other about it. 🙌🏻🥹
i hope so😭😭 i still havent processed it to be completely honest it doesnt feel real, no matter how much i’ve rewatched the clip over and over

can i ask what some of your artistic influences have been? inspirations / artists and things you've learned from?
the two constants for inspiration and influences have been jamie hewlett and then “the true lives of the fabulous killjoys” comic by gerard way tbh 😭 discovered both of those when i was 13 and my life was changed forever
but!! nowadays i get a lot of inspo from indie comics and zines!
other big inspirations are andrew maclean, mark schultz, junji ito, ketsuya terada, and rod reis! i tend to gravitate more towards artists who rely mainly on b&w/inks bc thats my favorite part of the drawing/comics process (and also bc i consider colors my weakest skill)
but also another book that rlly helped me is “the 5 c’s of cinematography”. i had to read it for class and its mainly a film composition book, but helped a lot with my panel variety and finding angles and compositions

I stumbled onto your tit comic and i'm moved and amazed. the composition, your style, your use of the little dots, it's really great and I was wondering if you had any tips for making comics? how do you make them dots? i'm trying to start out and seing your work has inspired me, because wow. forgot how powerful the comic form could be
I JUST SAW THIS SORRY!!!
the dots are screentone brushes! i personally use the true grit supplies brush pack, but i understand theyre expensive so im sure you could find cheaper/free alternatives for whatever program you use.
when it comes to making a comic and starting out with nothing, i tend to get a little overwhelmed so i try to break my story/idea page by page and plan what the page will start and end at. if that makes sense. and then i can get more detailed with figuring out each panel
as for like composition, i try to keep my pages 5-7 panels max (unless im trying to display a montage? of some kind, ie the fourth page of the tit comic) and in my opinion, one of the biggest things to make sure is that your pages/panels arent a bunch of floating heads talking. pulling the camera out or pushing it in is really effective so you dont have a bunch of panels of ppl from the shoulders up talking.
(i visualize my comics/scripts out like a movie in my head and just try to translate that onto a page to the best of my ability tbh)
i would seriously just recommend taking a lot of time to play around with thumbnails and do most of your planning there. forcing yourself to do multiple thumbnails of the same page can help you create some great stuff.
this may all seem kind of basic, unfortunately while i have a bfa in comics i am by no means a professional. but if you have any questions pls let me know!! love to talk comics and creation
