Workspace chronicles: Tools and Equipment
Since I started as a work-from-home employee, I learned what tools are essential to make my work productive. The essential items vary depending on the needs of the work.
Laptop: Acer Travelmate P2
I currently use Acer Travelmate P2. Click the link for the specs of this laptop. Even though this is an i3-10110U, this laptop delivers what I need on the daily basis. I plan to buy a new laptop with an i5 core. I will update this post with the new laptop.
Plantronics Blackwire C3220 Headset
Every work-from-home setup should have a noise cancelling headset. I invested in this good quality Plantronics Blackwire C3220 Headset because I was able to use this when I was working in office in 2018.
So far, these are the equipment that I use for work.

Portfolio showcase: Designs
These are some of the designs I’ve made for my personal page, EMVirtual. All of these designs are made thru Canva.
This photo is the logo. I want the logo to be minimalist yet professional looking.
The process of choosing the name of my brand is to keep my name, Emmy, in it and not overdo it. EM is catchy and works well with virtual. I could use SMM or social media management or something yet I choose virtual because I don’t want to stick to just one aspect as a virtual assistant. I want to explore other skills and improve them in time.
I’ve also made this banner. This is the official website banner and Facebook cover photo of the EMVirtual page. Even though this is a business page, I want it to have a personal touch. The image in the cover photo represents the uniqueness of my personality, that I can be professional and fun. This banner also shows the colors of the brand which are blue, white, yellow, and green. These colors represent respectability, clarity, energy, and harmony.
I’ve also created these designs for the frequently asked questions for my new Facebook page. As of the moment, I have not finished building my Wordpress portfolio site. This tumblr site is a temporary showcase of my work.

People vs. Lagman
People vs. Lagman 66 Phil. 13; GR. Nos. L-45892 and L-45893 July 13, 1938
The Supreme Court en banc affirmed the decision of the lower court which sentenced both appellants to one month and one day of imprisonment for violating s 60, Commonwealth Act no. 1 (National Defense Law). It was alleged that the appellants, being Filipinos, willfully and unlawfully refused to register in the military service, notwithstanding the fact that they were required to do so. The appellants were duly notified by the authorities with law and in spite of these notices, they had not registered up to the date of the filing of the information. The appellants alleged that they have not registered in the military service because de Sosa is fatherless and has a mother and an eight-year-old brother to support, and Lagman also has a father to support, has no military learnings, and does not wish to kill or be killed. The issue was whether or not the National Defense Law does not go against constitutional provisions in requiring its citizens to register in the military. The court held that the National Defense Law is not unconstitutional as it is stated in s 2, a II of the Constitution of the Philippines. The Act does not go against this constitutional provision but it is in faithful compliance therewith. The circumstances of the appellants that they have dependent families to support does not excuse them from their duty to present themselves before the Acceptance Board. As stated in ss 65 and 69, the appellants can ask for determent in complying with their duty and, at all events, they can obtain the proper pecuniary allowance to attend to these family responsibilities. In light of these factors, the Court emphasizes the significance of adhering to the National Defence Law and carrying out one's civic responsibilities, despite personal difficulties. The lower court's decision is upheld, and the appellants shall serve their respective sentences in accordance with the law. This decision ensures that mechanisms are in place to resolve legitimate concerns regarding family support and individual circumstances, while setting a precedent for all citizens to comply with their obligations to the nation.

Annotations:
In the case of Jacobson vs. Massachusetts (197 U.S., 11; 25 Sup. Ct. Rep., 385), it was said that, without violating the Constitution, a person may be compelled by force, if need be, against his will, against his pecuniary interests, and even against his religious or political convictions, to take his place in the ranks of the army of his country, and risk the chance of being shot down in its defense. - Adopted.
In the case of United States vs. Olson (253 Fed., 233), it was also said that this is not deprivation of property without due process of law, because, in its just sense, there is no right of property to an office or employment. - Adopted.
