Media Scrapbook Analysis
For the first part of my Tumblr, the ideas, some of my links included things that I thought contributed to the idea of what society has for the gender binary. For example, putting a gender on things that really do not need a gender, like the written post about the pink and blue razors. This post jokes about how the pink ones must make it cut girl hair better. And the blue packaging on the men’s razors must make it extremely masculine. There is also a post that I re-blogged that is a picture of two globes in a store, one is has blue water, and looks like a regular globe while the other has pink bodies of water. Looking at these gender ideas, us as a society has made these things this way. There isn’t a difference between the men’s and the women’s razors, they work the same as do the globes, there are the same amount of countries and oceans.  Another post that reflects this is the coloring books. There is one that says “brilliant” on it and it is blue that is meant for boys, and the other says “beautiful,”  is pink and Is meant for girls. The picture that looks like a card, and on the top it starts with “every girl, every boy” describes different ways that boys and girls are separated and how that sometimes some girls and boys are tired of having to prove that they identify as a male or a female.  The idea that things need to be something so they aren’t something else, is simply a figure of our society. We use social construction to create the gender binary and put people in this box. (Wade, Ferree, 2015).
Looking at the physical body parts of the human body and what separates people between male and female comes down to a few body parts and hormones. The post I re-blogged that starts with  “which is more likely” really brings into light the nature and nurture debate and what really happens. It is taught from the beginning that girls are supposed to like pink and boys are supposed to play with trucks. Another post that I re-blogged has someone holding a toy truck mentioning that we don’t even talk to people the same way, and we are immediately gender stereotyping  them. With bodies, some people are born intersexed. This puts a tough decision on the parents whether to pick for their child if they are to be a male or a female. Traditionally I is easier to make the child with female parts. But this then causes some discrepancies within the individual later in life, they do have the hormones of both genders and sometimes more one than the gender that they have grown up with.
Performances are closely knit with gender. If you act a certain way that doesn’t reflect your gender, people are quick to judge others. One of the links that I posted with this section was titled, “if boys want…” then lists some things that are stereotypically something a woman might do like wearing a dress. Looking at the way that people pass judgements on others about what they are wearing or what they are doing based on their gender and if they are fitting the binary or not, is gender policing (Wade, Ferree, 2015). Looking at all of the different things that I re-blogged I focused a lot on what society thinks that males and females should do and how they should act. Some of the things even look at some of the repercussions of when society puts these kinds of pressures on people. For example, the post that has the long black and white comic strip, at the end talks about all of the different things that people do that they get attacked for if they aren’t fitting into the gender binary.
Intersections are the crossing of roles and what roles are considered to be with one gender or the other, and how can these roles can be changed slightly to fit that other gender. For example on my Tumblr I re-blogged a couple of things related to stay at home mom and dads. The one about dads has to do with the new Incredibles movie, and how the dad is staying at home with Jack Jack (the baby of the family). Also there is another post about stay at home moms. If the family has a lot of wealth and the mom is stay at home, she is seen as hard working and dedicated to her family, but if she is in poverty, then she is seen as lazy, and should be working.
Inequalities is a huge factor in inequalities. The inequality between the two genders is an immense amount. There are differences between how males cannot be emotional or show emotion or they will be seen as weak, where women are told it is okay. One of my posts on Tumblr include a little conversation piece that talks about a girl getting  their oil changed and how the male suggests that she should check with her spouse, indicating that she is uncap able of doing so herself. The last post that I have associated with this section, is the one with Morgan Freeman saying “I hate the word homophobia, it is not a phobia. You’re not scared. You’re just an asshole.” I think that this goes a long with the ideas section because this emphasizes that there is not just inequalities for males and females due to their gender, but also someone’s sexuality. I think it is important to look at the fact that gay people have a lot more to be afraid of sometimes with the hatred and assumptions made on them. Looking at this idea of gay rights and inequalities, my next post that goes along with this is the national coming out day post. What made me repost this with the inequalities tab is that I am hoping that one day it won’t have to be a coming out day for people who identify as LGBTQ. That they don’t have to hide who they are and have the same type of acceptance as heterosexual couples do.   I think that this section and the performances section had a lot of overlap for my sources, some things I felt could go into both. Like the post that has a picture of a little boy in the dress with some commentary below. This is a performance by the parents and the boy, this is how they are choosing to let their son express himself. Yet I also saw this as an inequality, someone might say that their son is “less than a boy” and that is a bad thing to be like a girl.
As for sexualities I liked this section the most. I really enjoyed finding things for this topic to fill in the blanks with what I think that sexuality means and how it is expressed. My two favorite posts both are videos and both go in this section. The video called, “a letter to the girl who I used to be” and “break free”. Both of these videos put a unique perspective on their sexuality. Ethan, talks about what it means to him for being transgender and what he is missing out on. As for the video with Ruby, she starts off with what people think she should look like, then goes into what she wants to look like, challenging the stereotypes.

My dear trans boys,
You’re allowed to be “stereotypically male”.
You’re allowed to have interests or hobbies that are considered stereotypically male.
You’re allowed to dress or present yourself in a way that is considered stereotypically male.
You’re not “overdoing it”. You’re not “reinforcing outdated gender roles”. It’s not necessarily “toxic masculinity”.
You don’t need to be proof that trans boys can be soft or pink or cute. Your life is not a political essay on social gender roles. It’s about what makes you feel happy and comfortable with yourself - and if that’s things that are “stereotypical”, then nobody gets to judge you for that.
That applies no matter if you’ve identified as a trans man for years or are only just starting to discover your gender identity (or starting to question if you might be a trans boy!).
 With all my love,
Your Tumblr Mom

This meme really struck me. This is a truth I didn’t even realize was in front of me.
How we view affluent women vs. the working poor. White women vs. women of color.
Same job with different circumstances results in a different outcome in society.

The Incredibles 2 is coming soon, matter of fact June 15, 2018, is the official release date.
At Comic-Con some viewers were able to get a sneak peek preview of Bob a.k.a Mr. Incredible being a stay-at-home dad with Jack Jack, as Elastigirl went off to fight some bad guys. In this clip viewers were able to witness the immense superpowers Jack Jack acquires between laser vision, walking through walls, duplicating, fire, and the countless other powers that even the Incredibles seems to be scratching their heads about.
The Incredibles 2 will be picking up exactly where The Incredibles (2004) left off.

When a man gives his opinion, he’s a man. When a woman gives her opinion, she’s a bitch.
