Even though i had some ups and downs with this very quick project, it was nice to see my work on such a large platform.

These were the final images from the shoot, me and my assistant draped the fabric so it gave it a more elegant feel, i didn’t manage to make an entire room of dirt because the structure i had build was unable to fit in the uber, the team wouldn’t help pay for the transport and we had no help from vogue so i scaled my idea down, its still a garden but only because of the tone i picked of the fabric, i kept it earthy and i still managed to improve my original concept with the golden plants.

I had envisioned a garden but incapsulated by earth, i didn't want to make the set to busy to distract from the clothes as my job is to enhance an atmosphere rather than take centre stage. one of the “scenes” was based on narcissus, in the myth he is known for admiring his own beauty. so i wanted to surround him in dirt with the mirror in the middle like the pond. First picture is me making the floor sticking down the earth and covering the earth with water to make it moist and more realistic.

The First image above was a previous shoot i had done, i loved my idea of painting flowers bronze/golden but i was unable to portray a set design i was proud of for it so for this one i had intended to create an entire garden from golden flowers.

Moodboard for the shoot Myth that was sent to me by the art director for Vogue italia.
i had intended to create a snake sculpture but i was given this brief a week before the shoot so i learnt al ot about time management and how to scale down an idea without compromising too much on your vision.

I haven’t finished this project yet, it is a work in progress. but i wanted to show you that this project helped me grow as a video editor, i had the chance to really play and harness a new skill this year.

Playing around, this my first go at editing some of the footage, it has since been cleaned up and graded but you can see the type of effects i am speaking about in other posts where i speak about my exploration with post production effects.
- ps the quality of my videos have been decreased by Tumblr for some reason.

The Clients Video references for the music video, from this i took inspiration from aspects that he really wanted.

End title i created on after effects, i took some left over footage from the bath tub scene then placed a title over the top, i used the Saber plug in by video copilot to create the neon title and used various animations and layers to create a glitch, we used this at the end of the video for impact.

I made this composition on premiere pro by accident just playing around with different settings and keying, the background used to be the sky but i keyed it out with different glitches, the client wanted lots of distortion so i added even more and went heavy handed with some effects to make it crazy looking.

experimenting with masking! i used the same clip multiple times by cutting the video into shards of glass and then enlarged some of the clips to really give a effect that of a mirror. Rory (the client) wanted maximum distortion throughout, i like to think i have achieved this by using different methods on clips but always distorted.

How i created the bath tub scene!
we completely blacked out the bathroom while using one LED light for a spotlight onto to Rory, the light can change to any colour, i used both red and purple as that was the colour scheme i decided to uses throughout, for me colour grade is super important it makes the whole video feel cohesive. We used roses because they are beautiful but they can make you bleed if you get caught in a thorn, the video was about being trapped so in this scene he is trying to come out of a black liquid, trying to break free from his own mind.

Our First day of shooting! Rory in the waterloo vaults, we wanted an urban backdrop as he lives in London we wanted to get some of the city in the video, also this was important to Rory as he started off busking on the street to get his music out there!

“All the Doctrines and atrocities that are fed to us on a daily basis are warping us in versions of ourselves that are so monstrous we may one day not even recognise ourselves.”
“Into the mind of a damaged person, you see multiple versions of him, all afflicted, all desperate for escape, all slowly broken down, weakened and vulnerable. The chains represent the concepts that he’s been told are valuable, his responsibilities are the burden of all these negative, poisonous and ultimately self destructive beliefs. Without knowing it, he has been shaped by a system that has dehumanised him, taught him his feelings, wants and desires are not valued, Instead the system grades him and his obedience. The system is designed by the powerful to keep those below them, below them. Designed to create an expendable worker, just smart enough to run the machines, but dumb enough to accept his eventuality and inevitable redundancy.”
“Chains symbolise the beliefs and notions that seductively embrace the person but of course are ultimately dangerous and will choke him of his humanity, his love, his happiness.” - Rory Hunter (my client)
From the meetings and words Rory spoke to me i came up with a plan for our video. unlike my more fine art film where i did things mostly by feeling and didn't want a strict plan, for a music video i need to have a plan for the client even if we didn't stick to everything or things get changed, i needed to give him some structures to know what he is getting, so its not too vague. Also with this type of video there needs to be a structure so that you know parts will go well with the music, it cant be random visual, there is a process of listening to the song over and over and seeing how that music feels, sounds and could eventually look.

A lot of what Rory told me about the video resinated with what i was doing with my other Film “Radix” about people feeling trapped by their thoughts and trying to break free from your own mind as the man in my film is trying to do such as Rory in his music video, the connection i found interesting.
I wanted to do Rory’s vibe of glitches mixed with the way i do things, i use distortion a lot with my previous videos but i use it more subtly, i like to think we came to a happy medium. As you can see from these moodboards they have similarities to my moodboard for my Film “Radix” i’m using surreal methods throughout my projects to tell multiple different stories this style of art really has influenced me this year.

This is my final video for Féroce Magazine, i wanted it to look not polished and raw, i used 16mm overlay to make the film more analogue feeling. With Videography for fashion its not just about the vibe but you also have to capture the garments well, the texture, the movement and how the model wear the clothes are important to the designers to showcase their work so i need to focus on detailing of the garments.
