Daughter of fantasy villains decides to rebel against her parents by actually going through with her arranged marriage to a local golden retriever of a prince instead of running off with some local villain-to-be or conquering said golden retriever’s kingdom and ruling it solo like her parents expect her to. Plus, sue her, she’s into the clean-cut earnest look.
At the same time, local prince charming discovers that he’s actually very into the gothic fiance his parents have landed him with in order to try and establish peace with the local evil lair down the lane, he would never have guessed a spiderweb pattern could look so fetching on a ball gown…?
Meanwhile, two pairs of parents in a tizzy because they both expected their offspring to whole-heartedly reject this union and give them an excuse to conquer their goody-two-shoes/evil neighbours, they’re not supposed to actually like each other-!

Guys.
Y’all.
I…
I just. I just… i have discovered something. And I have laughed too much. I have laughed every time I have tried to explain it to someone. I cannot get through this.
Look. Okay.
There are two things you need to know, here.
First: There’s a style of Greek pottery that was popular during the Hellenic period, for which most of the surviving examples are from southern Italy. We call them ‘fish plates’ because, well, they’re plates, and they’re decorated with fish (and other marine life).
Like this one, currently in the Met:

Or this one, currently in the Cleveland Museum of Art:

They’re very cool. We’re not 100% sure what they were for, because most of the surviving ones were found as grave goods, but that’s a different post.
The second thing you need to know is that when we (Classics/archaeology/whatever as a discipline) have a collection of artefacts, like vases, sculptures, paintings, etc. and we do not know the name of the artist, but we’re pretty sure one artist made X, Y and Z artefacts, we come up with a name for that artist. There are a whole bunch of things that could be the source for the name, e.g. where we found most of their work (The Dipylon Master) or the potter with whom they worked (the Amasis Painter), a favourite theme (The Athena Painter), the Museum that ended up with the most famous thing they did (The Berlin Painter) or a notable aspect of their style. Like, say, The Eyebrow Painter.
Guess what kind of pottery the Eyebrow Painter made?

-Rand struggling to call the Amyrlin Seat "mother". Him actually calling her mother. I don't know why but LOL. So awkard for some reason.
-I love how Rand deals with the Ai Sedai, you get the feeling he wants to remain independant from them and doesn't want to be pushed around. I also like the fact that despite not wanting to hurt anyone or even channel, Rand doesn't really want to be gentled either. He is a normal dude with normal and rational fears. He doesn't hate himself that much yet.
-It is sad how much he wants to be Tam's son as well, but he is though, no matter what. That is the man who raised him.
-I love how Rand having an existential crisis right in front of her won't stop Moiraine from telling him his dramatic birth story.
-Nynaeve's first pov in this book, I think. Love her, so protective. One of my favorite characters already. She is so jealous of Moiraine for being bonded to Lan, poor dear.
-Lan's gift to her!! So romantic!!
-"If I cry now I will kill myself". She is so dramatic I love her.
-Moiraine!!!!!! Queen!!! They way she tries to convince Nynaeve to to Tar Valon with her though "If your own use of the Power is not schooled, you will never be able to use it against me." LMAO priceless. I love her your honor.

Okay I might do this one day. When I'll get more time and less existential weariness.
I've made a shopping list, I'll be making these this weekend.

Oh it's more than just a line!
Fili and Kili die off-stage, but there's a pretty moving moment where Bilbo talks to Thorin on his death bed, and Thorin forgives him and says he regrets how he treated him.
hi so ive reread the hobbit like twice does thorin only die in the hobbit movie? because i cannot for the life of me find it in the book. im asking you because you Know LOTR and Stuff thanke :)
Hello!
Okay, so, Thorin, Fili and Kili definitely die in The Hobbit book. However, there is one difference in how it happens between the book and movie!
In the movie, Bilbo obviously fights and assists in the battle. In the book, the little bastard sleeps throughout the entire fucking war.
Since Bilbo is the narrator of the Hobbit book, we don’t get a firsthand account of the Durin’s death.
Instead, we get a “blink and you’ll miss it” throwaway line pertaining to their battle demise.
They definitely died in the book, and it is mentioned, but since Bilbo, the one telling us the story, was asleep when it happened, it’s only a small throwaway line towards the end of the book.
Hope that helped! It’s been a hot minute since I read the book myself.
