Nan Tathren, “valley of willows”, is a vale in mid Beleriand where the River Sirion met its largest and Southernmost tributary, the river Narog. It was South of the gates of Sirion and north of the Havens. The Power of Ulmo was strong here even after Nirnaeth where the area was roamed by orcs. Its meadows held such an abundance of butterflies, it was told that all butterflies originated from this little valley.
