Rewatching the ds9 episode where Sisko builds the ancient Bajoran spaceship and it really is THE prime example that this man belongs in a Lowe's. Unfortunately he keeps getting dragged into Political Intrigue but his soul longs to be comparing different samples of ceramic tile and going "very nice very nice." He should be weighing the pros and cons of getting a green egg smoker or an offset smoker, with a bunch of random 2x4s and drill bits and a fire pit already in his cart, while Jake stands off to the side bored out of his mind like "DAD WE DIDN'T EVEN COME HERE FOR A GRILL." And Sisko is like "well it doesn't hurt to look son. I might wanna come back for this later"

Honestly one of the main reasons to assume Luigi Mangione was framed by the NYPD is that the UHC shooter not only had no reason to carry around a manifesto, he had no reason to even write a manifesto. He said his piece loud and clear with the bullet casings and the monopoly money. Everyone understood it and the shooter knew that would be the case.

Just wanna set the record straight, I support both Luigi Mangione AND whoever shot Brian Thompson. Just remember Luigi hasn't been confirmed to be that person.
Either way both are incredibly fuckin based

i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.

I saw a comment on an article about how women are vastly outpacing men in employment and higher education that was something like “It is a problem [that women are now more educated and more likely to have higher paying jobs than their male counterparts] because women do not want to date below their station.” Which was so fucking stupid because, and I’m going to be very frank here, educated high earning women love uneducated loser men. It is usually the man who CANNOT STAND that his wife is more educated and/or intelligent and making more money than him. Dudes will be making $80k a year while their wife makes $150k a year and earnestly say “Honey, I think you should quit your job and stay home when the baby comes.”
It’s not that most women are averse to dating men who are less educated and less wealthy than them, it is that a significant amount of men feel extremely emasculated if their S/O is superior to them in any way.

Parents don’t get to decide if they were “really good” parents. I know that’s harsh and there’s a lot of mommy positivity circles online that just give each other a positive feedback loop but you don’t decide if you were a “really great parent” to your child. Your children tell you if you were a good parent or not. I see this a lot of no contact parent circles where the person who is no contact with their children is like “well I was a GREAT parent so it isn’t my fault and I didn’t do anything wrong”. Normal parents wonder if they’re doing a good job, ask themselves how they can improve, are open to feedback from children and other parents. If you are 100% sure you were a faultless fantastic selfless awesome fantastic parent totally beyond reproach and your shitty ungrateful willful delinquent children just don’t appreciate you enough, you are a terrible parent.

Morgase is one of my favorite minor characters in the books. I find her so interesting, both as a subversion of the dead-parent trope, an example of a character finding strength when everything has been taken from them, and also as a case study in how even just a little bit of the one power can greatly affect a person, but also how her relationship with the Tower is complicated as a monarch, a former novice, and mother to a future Aes Sedai who has gone missing. I think she is such an interesting character and emblematic of how Robert Jordan gives so much humanity and depth to minor characters who would be written off or one dimensional in other series.

Every time a small child starts crying or having a tantrum in my vicinity and I catch the parents glancing at me I’ve started saying “me when…”.
Friend kept trying to tell his crying kindergartener to calm down and relax and the kid growled “I AM relaxed” while visibly tensing every muscle in his body and I was like “oh that’s me at work every day” and we had a chuckle.
Parents look to other adults like “shit are they mad? Do they think my kid is acting like a demon?” And this response is my attempt to say “no. I think your kid is just acting like a human being.”
I WISH I could fling myself on the ground and cry because I experienced a minor inconvenience.

A lot of parents shouldn’t be parents. Which is not me advocating for eugenics. Sex ed, abortion and birth control should be free and easily accessible and we should create culture that doesn’t treat reproducing as inherently altruistic and moral and makes it more acceptable to choose not to have kids. It’s an extremely weighty irreversible choice but it should always be a choice. You should have a damn good reason to have a child instead of it being something you do to tick off a box. If you don’t like kids and you don’t want to sacrifice your time and money to your kids, don’t have a kid. This isn’t an anti-parent anti-kid kid rant, it’s just so sad to see how many parents are kind of meh about their kids or straight up open about regretting them and to remember how many of my friends and classmates growing up had shitty parent horror stories.

“What about Brian Thompson’s children? 🥺” Lots of kids have/had evil ass dads who died young and violently. I’m pretty sure at least 3 of my classmates growing up lost their shitty dads in fucked up ways. One of my elementary school classmates actually witnessed his dad being gunned down. The difference is that he was then raised by a struggling immigrant single mom and not padded by a 50+ million dollar estate that can afford the best child grief therapy imaginable. What about the kids who lost their parents to completely treatable and preventable medical conditions due to UnitedHealthcare denying upwards of 30% of claims?
