Beyond the pit wheel starting point
After exploring obsolete items, for our next project we had to select an object of significance. I selected the camera my dad bought in the 80′s, which was the first film camera I ever used. He bought the camera to take photographs for his mining engineering dissertation at university. This kick-started my initial explorations to look into his mining history which led to my 6 week final major project ‘Beyond the pit wheel’.

‘pop in’ pop up gallery
Co-ordinated as part of the artist rooms:bruce nauman exhibition at York St. Mary’s contemporary art space.
pop in, was a week long exhibition featuring work inspired by nauman.
Installing the art work
We also had the opportunity to make works in response to the themes throughout the project, I featured human rights/ conditions due to what I learned from amnesty international with some subtle nauman references.
This piece was within the amnesty bookshop.
I hung this piece in the habit public house next door to the bookshop.
Photos from the private view (not mine)
The project was documented and the video is featured on the tate website and national galleries website (my ugly mug).
