I've been rewatching The X-Files, and there's something really beautiful about falling back into the same level of loving obsession about two characters as I did when I was ten years old.

Ten year old me didn't understand why I was compelled to tell myself stories about Mulder and Scully, or how they were wiring my brain (sometimes, a man and a woman are in love in a very bisexual way, and that's just how it is), and I definitely didn't quite get why certain interactions between them gave me butterflies, but grown up me does, and yet it still makes me do the *incoherent noises* thing. Just like when I was little.

She rolls her eyes. “Of course.”

“You feminists,” he huffs, merging left. “Your turn.”

She laughs. “Lemurs are the only other primates to have blue eyes.”

Mulder looks surprised. “Really?”

“Really.”

“Shit. Okay.”

Scully watches him, the disparate beauty of his face. Wants to hear more from that mad, bad, dangerous brain. Could listen to him forever.

Lobs a softball, but not too obvious. “Adrian IV was the only British Pope,” says Bill Scully’s Catholic daughter.

He beams, smug and happy. “Went to Oxford; obviously I know that.”

She frowns. “Dammit. Yours.”

Mulder nibbles at a lush persimmon lip and she doesn’t gaze - she doesn’t.

“Harpsichords are struck with plectra like a guitar while piano strings are hammered.”

Scully went to Williamsburg as a kid, knows this the way she can differentiate between Amharic and Aramaic. “Really?”

“Really.”

“Your turn,” she grouses, delighted.

He drives on, alight.

Apparently writing smut during lunch breaks relaxes me. Interesting. Anyway. Let's pretend it's Christmas, Scully is visiting her family? And Mulder has been invited to come along but said no? And then he changes his mind?

He was invited for family Christmas but she knows he didn’t believe he was really wanted, and he’s still afraid of her brother. So it’s a surprise when the doorbell rings and she goes to open the door and sees him standing there.

“I missed you,” he says, and she jumps into his arms and kisses him and she doesn’t care who sees them.

She shows him up to their room and even though everyone is waiting downstairs, they end up making out on the bed. She’s just so glad he’s here with her. And he smells so good and he’s so solid underneath her as she stretches out on top of him. Even though it’s only been two days since they last saw each other, she missed him so much it hurt.

When his hands slide down her back and grab her ass, she rolls her hips against him and it feels so good she gasps into their kiss and does it again. She wants him so much she can’t stand it. They’re gonna have to go to bed early tonight. She’s already so wet for him. They allow themselves another minute to simply drift in each other’s arms. Hopefully nobody will have missed them yet, but right now she honestly doesn’t care. She’s too happy to care.

thailand legalised same sex marriage. most of the world is doing an excellent job of acting on climate change, and we're projected to warm no more than 2.9 degrees now. the EU has been working hard to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, and is doing a great job. bhutan continues to absorb more carbon dioxide than it emits, and so does tasmania. here in brisbane, queer people of faith have been coming together in queer worship nights, meeting similar people, and accepting themselves, ready to reconcile it with their faith and question the crumbs of christian nationalism that permeate from the US. they're planning to build high speed rail between sydney and newcastle too, and a new inland link between brisbane and melbourne. kakapo have been saved from extinction over in aotearoa (new zealand). solar and wind energy generation are at an all time high. vegan meat alternatives taste the best they ever have. autism speaks shut down in canada, and awareness is rising very quickly about adhd in women, the pda profile, and neurodiversity and disability in general. they've invented a blood test for endometriosis. it's not all bad news
