As Violet handed Ellie a dish, she continued helping drying and putting them away, legs dangling from the counter where she sat. She did feel bad, especially now as she realized her roommate waited for her to come home. Even if she said she wasn’t mad, there was still some sort of tension lingering between the two, though Ellie couldn’t quite put her finger on it even if she tried. There seemed to be a shift since she started spending more time with Brick.
Ellie half-smiled in relief, realizing as Violet continued that she was obviously just being protective. She didn’t blame her considering some of the types of people they encountered at their work. “I know. Between you, Scamp, and Brick I’ve got plenty of people around to stick up for me if any scummy guys try anything,” she teased as her smile grew. They finished the last of the dishes and Ellie watched as her best friend closed the cabinets, jumping down from the counter and nodding. “We did! And he brought me back home,” she reassured Violet. Though she and Brick didn’t have a label on anything, she was spending more time with him and she hoped he and her best friend could eventually find some common ground. “You gonna head off to bed, or did you wanna hang out for a bit?”
A faint smile appeared on Violet’s face as Ellie came up to help her dry the dishes. She didn’t say anything about it, however, choosing to continue with her current task only this time, she handed the dishes towards her best friend so they can finish up with the cleaning sooner. She then nodded, listening as the brunette apologized for not texting her about leaving. It was strange that Ellie hadn’t done so, the other girl usually shooting her a quick text about these kinds of things if they weren’t already within the same place when she leaves and vice versa. Violet had been in the back of the club doing some quick inventory due to the slowness of the night, hence why she hadn’t been aware to even notice when Brick had came in, much less when he and Ellie had snuck off. Putting another plate away, the ravenette gaze back at the brunette before shaking her head. “….I’m not mad.” Violet replied.
Mad? No. Kinda disappointed and even a little jealous? Yeah. Ellie sneaking off in the middle of a shift wasn’t anything new. She’s done that a couple of times before, it just so happens that her skipping out was becoming more frequent especially now that she was dating this Brick guy. “I already figured you were with Brick, but the confirmation would’ve been nice. There are a lot of scummy guys out there after all, and the ones who go into the club aren’t any different.” Violet commented. She was aware that Ellie didn’t like her constantly worrying over her, and for the most part, the taller tries not to because her best friend could handle herself, but sometimes it couldn’t be helped. If something happened to Ellie and Violet was too late to find out then— shoving any of those thoughts aside, the ravenette finished off with the drying before closing their kitchen cabinet door closed. “You two had fun then?”

Ellie rolled her eyes even though she had set herself up for that one — so maybe he did take offense to her comment about his band, or he was just playing along with the bit. It wasn’t that she actually hated their sound or anything, they just weren't exactly her vibe when it came to her music taste. Plus, she had been drinking when she first said that, not thinking how rude it may have come off at that moment. That didn’t stop Brick from still wanting to be around her though, her expression scrunching up playfully as he pulled the strand of hair back out from behind her ear. She followed him to the exit until he flashed her a grin, stopping as he did and intriguingly meeting his gaze. “Only in a plane once?” She answered, a little nervous but excited at the idea — it sounded much cooler than taking an Uber at least.
“Because I’m not playing anymore,” Brick replied, referencing the inside joke that had carried over from the first time they met, when Ellie had said his band sucked. He was going to get her to admit that his music fucking rocked, whether she was really just teasing about disliking it or not. She gave him a decent opening there by claiming the vibe of the venue had gone down, even if she was just saying it to not look so eager to leave with him. (She didn’t have to pretend for him anyway, but whatever.) He reached over and untucked the piece of hair she had fixed, just to be annoying, and led the way to the door where he turned to face her with a devilish grin. “You ever flown before?”

Ellie’s cheeks heated up as Brick responded a little more directly, something she wasn’t normally used to. She always had to sneak around in the past, and that was a habit she was still trying to break. It was also fun to play innocent at times, but his straightforwardness was undeniably hot — he saw through her act easily and knew what she really came for. Biting down on her lower lip, Ellie nodded, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. “Sure, this place is getting lame anyways,” she played it off with a smile, finishing the rest of her drink in a few sips before standing from the barstool.
Acting like they didn’t both know how the night was going to end was getting a little tiring—Brick preferred a much more direct communication style himself—but he figured it was still easier to go along with Ellie’s playful little game for a few more minutes than to start at square one with someone else. “Sure do, but it’s not for a gentleman to say,” he answered, mimicking Ellie’s glance around the room, this time as if to suggest that they were in too public of a place for him to say his real intentions. He leaned in closer and added, “Good thing I’m not a gentleman. You wanna get outta here, doll?”

Ellie already knew that Violet wasn’t a fan of the guy she’d been spending her time with, which was why she had a feeling that her best friend preferred not to even hear about it at all. It was likely because he was a bad influence — between ghosting her roommate and sneaking off from work early multiple times now, they were obviously starting to annoy both Violet and Scamp. She and her twin moved away from their parents, but it seemed that Scamp and Vi had taken over the parenting role for El since then — though that wasn't exactly a bad thing. Ellie just didn’t see the big deal though; Scamp hung out with questionable people too, and it wasn’t like anyone was getting hurt. The twin just wanted to have some fun, and Brick brought some excitement around.
Ellie was surprised by Violet’s answer, watching as she focused on drying the clean dishes. She took the initiative to help her, grabbing a rag for herself and sitting herself up on the counter, perfectly positioned to put away the cups in the above cabinet. “Sorry, I meant to text you,” she answered truthfully, grabbing a clean glass to dry off. “It was a slow night, and I guess Brick got out of practice early, so we were texting.. and I ended up leaving early to see him.” She shrugged nonchalantly in return, trying not to make a big deal out of it. She met the ravenette’s gaze hesitantly. “... Are you mad?”
"Do you really wanna know where I was?" -Ellie ( @ellietramp )
In all honestly— no, Violet didn’t. She didn’t want to know where Ellie had been and that was mainly because she already kind of knew. Or more accurately, the ravenette knew who the brunette had been with this entire time. That new guy Ellie’s been hanging around with the long ginger hair and always sporting a red baseball cap— Brick. Just the thought of him already had her wanting to roll her eyes, yet Violet refrained from doing so and being questioned by her friend why she did it. Instead, she mastered up a small smile and pretended to nonchalantly shrug at Ellie. “Yeah,” Violet began, picking up a rag and one of the many cups inside the dishwasher. Before the older had came back home, she had been in the middle of wiping down and putting the dishes away. Yeah, it was kind of late, and by now she would’ve tried to sleep, but the super hardly ever slept whenever her friend was out and about. Not to say she was purposely staying up for her, but it was easier to fall asleep when she had peace of mind in knowing that the other girl was safe. Preferably safe at home with her. “You snuck away from your shift an hour early without notifying me, mind telling me what all that was about?” She added, now with a raised brow as she stared back at Ellie.

“Me too,” Ellie agreed as she felt herself relax more, caused by a mix of the alcohol and his reassuring words. Maybe this wasn’t a dumb idea after all — she was allowed to have fun! El watched Brick’s head tilt slightly, momentarily wondering if she was losing him, but his smile and response confirmed that she was simply overthinking it. Considering it had been a while since she really put herself out there, she was just out of her element. Ellie pretended to think about it for a moment. "Hmm.. Well, I guess since there's only one member here," she playfully pointed out the obvious, looking around as if to ensure that were true. She actually hadn't met the other band members the last time she saw them perform, but she could probably spot them if they were around. Ellie met the redhead's gaze again, feigning innocence. "Did you have something in mind?"
Predictable was one word for it, but Brick didn’t think calling a woman that was going to get him anywhere with her. “I’m glad to see you again,” he said instead. Complimenting her choice to show up rather than calling her basic. He cocked his head to the side a little and assessed her as she admitted that she was up for some entertainment besides the band. How coy. Brick could play along and act like they didn’t both know she was down to fuck the moment she decided to come back to the show. “How about one member of the band?” he asked, smiling like he thought he might actually have to convince her.

"Am I that predictable?" Ellie's smile was more visible as she brought the drink away from her lips. Knowing her best friend and her brother, the two of them would eventually be wondering what El's been up to and catch on — they'd likely tell her she should stay the hell away from guys like this, a lucky guess based on how protective they've been since the move. Maybe she was just trying to prove a point to them, that she didn't need anyone hovering over her and monitoring her all the time. The knowledge that they'd disapprove only pushed her further to do what she wanted — and people really believed that she and Scamp had nothing in common. "I came for some entertainment," Ellie shrugged casually, "but that doesn't mean it has to be from the band."
“Nah. Not surprised you came back for seconds,” Brick answered, immediately replacing the expression of surprise he had most definitely flashed on initial sight of the woman with a look of smug assurance. It was that quick to inflate his ego; while his hook-ups were usually one and done, it only felt natural that this one had ended up coming back regardless of her taste in music. There was something about her…a Little Red Riding Hood sort of thing that activated his own Big Bad Wolf instincts. He wanted to teach her a lesson in the worst kind of way. “But did you come for the band or something else?” he teased, raising an eyebrow in subtle challenge.

Name: Danielle "Ellie" Tramp Age: 26 Height: 5′2 Pronouns: She/Her Sexuality: Bisexual Occupation: Cocktail server Zodiac: Cancer sun, Sagittarius moon, Scorpio Rising Faceclaim: Haley Lu Richardson
Description
Between Danielle and her twin brother, it was always her who was seemingly the well-behaved child. Even before their younger sisters came along, Ellie knew that their family had certain expectations of them, and she did a better job at following their rules and expectations than Scamp ever did. It didn’t mean she liked them — she just didn’t think it was worth fighting with their parents over it constantly. Instead, she learned that she could do whatever she wanted as long as she didn’t get caught. It was funny how different she and her twin were in that aspect, for Scamp was terrible at sneaking around and getting away with trouble. Even Annette and Collette were oblivious to Ellie’s adventures behind closed doors, though she couldn’t hide it from her twin brother. By day she was in advanced classes and getting good grades, seemingly being a good role model for her siblings and family, and by night she was sneaking out with cute boys and going to underage parties. It didn’t bother her to have to sneak around back then, though it did put a little bit of strain between her and Scamp because of how much he got in trouble in comparison. He never told on her anyway, and she always tried to help him out when she was able to in return. They both understood each other and were a lot alike, but the way they went about things was very different.
The older she got, the harder it was to keep that perfect image of herself and continue to sneak around. It was as if she didn’t know who she was on her own because she was always being what she was expected to be. When it was finally time to start college, Ellie had no idea what she wanted to do. Similar to her brother, her major was undecided, considering pre-law like her mother but feeling like she’d only be doing that for her mom rather than herself. Meanwhile, she knew her brother was feeling more and more pressure from their parents, and before they knew it he had dropped out of school and left without even a note. Ellie was extremely hurt by his sudden disappearance, and suddenly the pressure of their family was turned on her with her brother gone. It was no wonder that Scamp's leaving finally brought Ellie to her breaking point.
Soon, Ellie also dropped out of school, moving into her own apartment but not completely disappearing like her brother had. She needed her own space to process, and despite how tempting it was to go after Scamp and find him, she had a feeling he needed his own space, too. She spent a lot of time trying to distract herself and fill the void but with no luck, and she didn’t hear from her brother again for a couple of years. They continued to keep in contact over the phone at first, but Ellie eventually decided that a relationship with her brother was more important than the rest of her family. Though her family is still able to reach her by phone, she moved away with her best friend Violet to be closer to her twin, getting a job at the nearby casino and no longer feeling the family pressures she’s had on her for so many years. Danielle can finally be herself on her own terms. Although Ellie and Scamp have been reconnected for some time now, they were still apart for a long time and are readjusting to how things are now, continuing to reconnect and catch up after so many years of distance.
Headcanons
When Ellie first moved out on her own after Scamp disappeared, she struggled to find a job after dropping out so she got help from her mom. She was a secretary at her mom’s job up until she moved in with Violet. The tension between her and her mom at work was part of what pushed her to move closer to her brother — she realized he was the one family member she could truly be herself around.
While she didn’t have Scamp close by, Ellie did try to get close to her sisters. They were also hurt by Scamp leaving, so they were able to bond over the sadness of that. Even still, it felt like Ellie was putting on a facade for all of them. Annette and Collette were both so much different than she was; when they did what their parents asked of them, they weren’t putting on a show and doing it to keep the peace like Ellie always did. They were more stuck-up and followed the rules without any questions. Unfortunately, Ellie didn’t grow close enough to either of them, not in comparison to her twin of course. She worries that she hurt them by taking off too.
She’s always had a thing for bad boys and dated a lot of them over the years. Ellie had multiple secret boyfriends between high school and adulthood, some of them being Scamp’s friends. Because of the bad luck she’s had over the years and now just trying to enjoy her newfound freedom, she prefers to keep things casual than seek anything serious
Her first serious relationship that was kept a secret was with Scamp’s best friend, Dodger during high school. Dodger eventually broke up with Ellie and ran away from home not long after, and Ellie still wonders if he had planned it that way all along. Now knowing her brother and Dodger are reconnected and had been living together, she’s slightly annoyed about it but unable to show it. Scamp still doesn’t know about their history, and she and Dodger unspokenly plan to keep it that way. Even though she’s still hurt by everything though, she can admit that it was a relief to see that Dodger was okay.
She’s a silly, goofy gal when she’s in the right headspace and feels comfortable enough to be herself.
Ellie and Violet have been super close since Ellie was the babysitter for Violet’s youngest brother back in high school. She was so relieved when Violet agreed to move with her, after spending so much time at her apartment anyway before moving. She truly wouldn’t have been able to reunite with her brother again without Vi’s help.
Now that she doesn’t have to worry about the judgment of their family members, Ellie’s more willing to do whatever she wants without caring what others think. Ironically, her brother suddenly wants to be a protective sibling and make sure she’s not making stupid decisions, as if he’d ever cared before (and as if he isn’t a total hypocrite). Her logic remains the same: if she doesn’t get caught, it doesn’t matter.
She has an American Cocker Spaniel named Nova

"What? Surprised to see me again?" Ellie asked with a hint of a smile, attempting to hide it by taking a sip from her drink. Maybe it was the way she had jokingly told him his band sucked after his last set that she went to, or maybe it was because they hooked up after and probably should have left it at that. Still, she came back again for another show. Was she just bored? Trying to find someone to fill the time with when Violet had different shifts than her? Or was she purposely heading in a direction she knew she should avoid? She knew her track-record with guys wasn't great, having steered clear from anything intimate for awhile because of it, but maybe her newfound freedom was making her feel restless now. "I guess you could say I decided to give your band a second chance." @brickjj

Ellie matched her friend's smirk, following her lead in letting her hair free. Some would think it was stupid for Ellie to get a job at the casino, all conflicting factors considered, but the reality was that everything was fine so far. She wasn't in danger, she wasn't causing harm... life moved forward. Really, Ellie was grateful for the job change; she never really felt like she belonged at her mom's job, even if she'd been there a long time, and it brought her and Violet closer. "Hey, I don't blame you! Dude was a total jerk," Ellie was quick to defend the ravenette's actions, no questions asked. "Yeah, you don't mind, right?" She knew Violet never did, but sometimes she needed to make sure. "My neighbor has been checking up on Nova when I can't stop by the house, so I'm not worried about leaving her tonight."
Glancing at the blonde with a smirk on her face, the ravenette slipped off the hair tie she had pulling her hair back and shook her hair. Landing a job at the casino hadn’t been something Violet planned on doing, but after hearing how Ellie started working there and how certain family members of hers wasn’t as approving of her working there, she did what any person would do— she applied to work there herself. It was safer that way, at least for her friend, and it’s not like Violet was doing it for completely selfless reasons either, she had been considering in taking up a second job next to working at the House of Mouse, and it just so happened that working at the casino with the blonde didn’t sound like a half bad idea. Besides, the two were practically with each other most of the time outside during their personal time, might as well add work hours on top of that as well. “…Mines a little less, but that’s to be expected. Probably shouldn’t have shoved that guy when he commented on how I should ‘let the girls out a little more’” Violet rolled her eyes, as she plopped down onto the couch next to Ellie. “You’re staying the night again, right?"

Through all the craziness, Ellie was grateful she had Violet as a best friend by her side. No matter what was going on, she was there to listen. The two girls practically lived at each other's houses now, even both working at the casino together and picking up similar shifts. Violet was like the normalcy that Ellie craved in her family unit, isolating herself from her actual relatives for the most part lately. It was obvious that Danielle had been avoiding the topic of her parents and her siblings, but Violet never pushed her too hard. Ellie sat at her friends couch, still in her work clothes as she counted out her tips for the night. "This is actually the best I've made since I got hired. Definitely more than enough to order us pizza tonight and tip the driver. How'd you do?" @inviisibleprr

Ellie trusted that Slightly knew just where to take them, following his lead with a rumbling stomach. She smiled, following along in a sing-songy tone, "Girl dinner!" With her stress lately, it was no secret that Ellie's girl dinner's had been lacking nutrition, but that was the least of her worries, especially right now. "Frozen pizza and a Mike's hard lemonade: girl dinner. Chocolate covered pretzels and sour patch kids: girl dinner," she continued, growing hungrier the more they headed to an open convenience store. "Oh! We should pick up a snack for my dog, too. Nova also needs her girl dinner fix."
@ellietramp (continued from here):
Ellie hadn't expected to run into Slightly tonight, who had apparently just performed at the House of Mouse, but it was a pleasant surprise. She hadn't seen him since the apartment party — it was crazy to think that she was going through a lot then, but how much more had happened since. Could she ever catch a break? Nonetheless, Slightly was always a nice distraction from whatever was bothering her, which he proved the night of the party and again tonight. She smiled at the suggestion as they walked down the sidewalk, the lack of people on the roads and walkways indicating how late it truly was. "I could never say no to midnight snacks, but .. will we even find a place that's open?"
“There’s always a twenty-four hour convenience store somewhere even if all the restaurants are closed,” Slightly answered, having plenty of experience of late nights in the city. He was already leading the way toward what he knew to be the nearest one, following the mental map of these streets in his head. “Have you heard of girl dinner? A bag of chips and a fudge pop: girl dinner. Gas station nachos and a whole pickle: girl dinner.” Maybe they didn’t know each other well enough yet for Slightly to pry into why Ellie had looked so troubled when they ran into each other, but seeing her smile as he brought up food made him think it was a good idea to keep talking, to help take her mind off whatever it was.
