What Are New Trends from Tea World?
At the beginning of September our two members of staff – Tony and Markéta visited the Tea & Coffee World Cup.
START OF THE JOURNEY
Markéta’s journey to the exhibition began at 9 o’clock in the morning from Derby to Birmingham New Street. The train was full of people and it took around 30 minutes. Even though Markéta was scared of trains because it was her second time by train, she survived and met Tony in Birmingham. He was waiting for her on the platform. Then Tony and Markéta took the train from Birmingham New Street to Birmingham International. After that, it took around 10 minutes to get to the right hall, where the exhibition was being held.

FIRST TIME
The exhibition was held for the first time in the vibrant city of Birmingham in the National Exhibition Centre. There were various interesting activities to do, such as workshops, discussions, showing new technologies and trends by companies from all over the world (Shanghai, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and India).
Tumblr media
TEA IS POPULAR?!
Even though there should be both, tea and coffee exhibitors, there were more businesses from the tea industry who are interested in spreading tea as the drink which has health benefits and it is easy to prepare at home. It is no doubt that tea is becoming more popular, not only with its traditional English Breakfast tea but also with its range of fruit teas, chai teas and matcha as well.
An extensive level of research is being undertaken into new teas. The research is done according to a population who is interested in particular flavours and the character of different of seasons is playing a big part in the evolution of new flavour as well.
Environmentally friendly teabags are currently popular. Companies are finding solutions to make them from eco-friendly materials. These new tea bags will not affect the flavour of tea as well. However, our Elements’ tea is all loose-leaf tea, which will provide better taste and quality of the tea experience.

TALK BY A TEA EXPERT
The talk with tea tasting which was provided by a tea expert Jane Pettigrew from UK Tea Academy was really enriching. She talked about the importance and growth in the market with its beneficial effects on the health. There was an experience of tasting a proper loose-leaf tea and a tea bag tea from the supermarket. You could recognise the difference straight away! If you like a really good cuppa, the importance of water temperature, measuring and brewing time is crucial as well.

DID WE LEARN ANYTHING NEW?
To sum up, we have learnt a lot of new information and facts about the tea production with its growing trend not only between adults but younger generation too. And we thought, we knew almost everything about tea, but we were wrong!

Derby, are you ready?
Time is going so fast that our new tea and coffee shop will be opened only in a few weeks. How crazy is that? We had planned to be already opened. However, unexpected circumstances occurred, and slowed down the process. But you don’t have to be disappointed, the opening is closer than you think. Nothing can stop us now!

The shop is getting ready to be opened
Where to stay and get ready?
Sadly, it is not possible to do anything, in the shop - including staff training. So, we had to think about an alternative place. Where? As you may or not know, we co-operate with and support local businesses. That’s how we have found a perfect place close to our shop in Derby. The Brewery Tap is now our second home for a couple of weeks. The staff there are incredibly kind and friendly as well. Big thank you to them!

Our first team visit to Monsoon Estates Roastery Coffee Company Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire
Tumblr media
So here we are, 9 am in the warmth of a beautiful summer’s morning in Derby City Centre, ready for a day out to our supplier’s roastery in Warwickshire. None of us knowing what to expect and not realising what an incredible day we are about to have. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the Elements team is all ready to taste the splendour’s of artisan coffee! Is there anything better?
As none of us know each other, the journey to the roastery was a perfect way to chat to our fellow baristas and have a laugh, after a few toilet breaks – of course!
Once we had arrived at the roastery, it was not what we were expecting! We parked up on this gorgeous estate surrounded by greenery, animals and the smell of freshly roasted coffee – bliss! We were warmly greeted by the owners, Chris and Anne from Monsoon who would kindly be showing us around their roastery. The first part of the tour started with a cup of freshly roasted coffee made by Kasia, our amazing barista trainer, followed by a lesson in latte art. 11 dirty coffee cups later (the sign of a good coffee!), we were ready for the tour where the magic happens!
Chris delivered a great session on the process of creating the perfect coffee; right from the moment the coffee seed is planted to the first drop in your mouth. Unfortunately, due to the time of the day, the coffee beans had already been roasted, so we couldn’t see this process but, we were able to have a feel and smell of the green beans that had just arrived from Papua New Guinea. The Papua New Guinea Enorga gives off a dark raisin fruit and chocolaty taste and we are proud to call this our house coffee. Check out their website! https://www.monsoonestatescoffee.co.uk/coffee-shop/papua-new-guinea-enorga-blend
I would never have thought there were different processes involved in making certain types of coffee such as an espresso – you learn something new every day!
Tumblr media
After an eventful morning, we were welcomed with a BBQ lunch followed by food and drink samples for Elements. A lovely selection of cold glass bottled tea and coffee – sounds strange right? They were DELICIOUS and we can’t wait for you all to try them! We also sampled some of Ananda’s vegan marshmallows and chocolate roundups, which proved a big hit.
Check them out here - http://www.anandafoods.co.uk
The latter part of the afternoon consisted of a lesson in the production of coffee followed by coffee training. The coffee training allowed us to create our own latte art, which is harder than you think but also great fun! This brought us to the end of great and rewarding day. On departure, we were given a pack of Monsoon’s delicious Papua New Guinea Enorga each. A splendid day had by all J
Want to be the first to see our products and hear about our opening hours? Make sure you follow us on our social media accounts. We so look forward to welcoming you to Elements tea and coffee shop very soon!
