"I promise, I'm not wearing it as well as you are,"
she joked, trying to keep the mood light. Well,
as light as she could with potential annihilation
on their doorstep.
Leaning against the railing, Shepard allowed herself a moment
of happiness as she was content to silently trace Miranda's
features with her dark brown eyes. "What've you been up to,
Miranda?"
Miranda’s fingers drew circles on the
railing as she waited. There was a good
chance the Commander wouldn’t show.
Not that that was what she was hoping,
for. Realistically speaking a full scale
Reaper invasion made a rendezvous
difficult.
The woman looked over at her former
Commander, smiling as she was nudged.
"And you’re looking well for someone who
has been stuck under Alliance watch for the
past six months,” she said, returning the elbow
nudge.

FAVOURITE MASS EFFECT LOCATIONS: ILOS
In the golden age of the Protheans, Ilos was a verdant world, dotted with the spires and arches of magnificent cities. Even casual observation shows this is no longer the case. Ilos has been devastated by means unknown, its entire surface changed to the color of rust. The atmosphere shows heightened levels of oxygen. Wildfires, presumably ignited by lightning strikes, can be seen burning on the dark side. This indicates that most –— if not all — respiring animal life forms have died off.

Eden shook her head, unable to fight the smile
that threatened to splay along full lips. Extending
a hand, the commander gave the woman a curt
nod.
"What should I call you? Or should I stick to 'pot'?
Or would you prefer to be the 'kettle'?"
In an almost sixth-sense sort of fashion, the commander turned to look beside her. A trip to the bar while waiting for her second in command to join her had been a good suggestion. At least, in thought anyway.
”Kettle calling the pot black, are we?”

"Hmm. Naturally," she retorted with a roll of her eyes.
"With what I do, I have to be. It's either that or a bullet
'tween the eyes. And I have no plans to die [ soon...again ]."
She adopted the previous smile, extending a slender arm in
salutation. "Eden. You?"
“That’s pretty God damned presumptuous of you.
I think I’ll stick with the former though. Might change my
mind if you tell me your name?”

Oh dear.
"Tali--buddy--" she smirks, reaching for the glass in the
quarian's iron-tight grip. "What's wrong..? I mean, is
there something wrong or are you just enjoying some
time off?"
"–– Shepard? I ––”
{ Hic! }
“What would make you think t h a t ?”

Eden snorts, thoroughly amused with herself. The hell was
in that drink?! Shaking her head, the commander clears
her throat and waves away the other woman's comment,
along with her own stupidity.
"Hmm, wonderfully dreary. Good to know. I'm Eden. And you?"
her eyes just kind of wandered over the other woman. no
interest laid there, just a bit of disgust. maybe it was the
way she assumed anya happened to be gazing and the
words flying from her mouth.
” unless you’re the death of hundreds, not at all. “

Shepard nods in agreement. Being idle is worse than
being dead, in the commander's not so humble opinion.
"Glad to hear it, Chambers. And...you look good. Healthy."
Healthy?!
Glad that Shepard hadn’t pushed further, Kelly appears to relax, even sighing quietly. “Helping out. There’s a lot to be done… And it beats being idle.”

"Now you're gettin' it," she smiles.
Shepard can't remember the last time she simply
checked in on the specialist and that, no matter
how stressed or distracted the commander is, will
forever be deemed unacceptable in her eyes.
"When was the last time you stepped away from that console, Traynor?"
“So… your reputation precedes you then, is what you’re getting at?” Traynor asks amusedly, looking away from her terminal to prefer her gaze towards the woman in question.

She smiles subtly, hiding the display from the asari,
as she hurtles herself into Liara's most comfy chair
in front of her private terminal.
"Oh?" she questions, a single brow cocked in amusement
and intrigue. "Do tell."
So much for subtle.
“I always have something for you, Commander.”
Bright blue orbs found the Commander’s
as she made her way forcefully into the asari’s cabin.
While Shepard wasn’t formal in her entrance,
Liara still appreciated her visits.

The ever-seeing cerulean hues dance along the commander's features. She feels Miranda's eyes evaluating her, much like she's done since their first official meeting. Shepard knows there's no need to be shy. The dark-haired woman has seen everything there is to see of Commander Shepard. She could even go so far as to say she knows her better than anyone. The idea of being exposed on an operating table for two years with no one to hold her hand but the woman before her is earth-shattering. The thought takes its toll as Eden's eyes travel up to meet blue.
A smile, no matter how minuscule, plays on Shepard's lips as she dips her head in a subtle nod. "Maybe. But being the woman who put me back together warrants more than a comparison, if you ask me. Though I imagine no one will, considering your previous ties. If they gave me such a hard time, I can't imagine what they'd do or say to you. Have you been staying relatively safe?"
To see Shepard in this moment, exposed among everything…it takes a lot on her part. And it’s something Miranda can sympathize with. Her appreciation is quiet but visible in the way she relaxes - allows the shoulders to stoop and the eyes to soften. Eyes that never miss a move from her commander as she rocks back on feet that plant themselves firmly in their place.
"The feeling’s mutual, I assure you," Miranda replies in a similar volume; how those senses never really failed, to always prove themselves useful in one way or another. There’s a tilt of her head, followed by a shrug. "Maybe comparing myself to the great Commander Shepard is a bit self-indulgent, but the time I spend avoiding death by Cerberus earns some merit in its own right. At least I think so."
And how, of course, she punctuates her statement with a smile.

She'd hit a nerve. excellent. The two walked on,
the asari informing her, no--correcting her in
regards to her relationship with the Queen Bitch.
"Liselle. Nice name. You one of Aria's dancers, turned
lackey?" Easy, Shepard.
Liselle just snorted, and then waved the Commander
forward in a silent bid to follow her. There was a slight
tensing in her posture at the question, but she didn’t
call attention to it.
"Comment all you want, I don’t care. And she’s my
boss, not my friend. As for who I am, the name’s
Liselle.”

Shepard felt a rage bubbling up inside of her as
Vasir scoffed--scoffed!--at the commander. It
wasn't every day someone did that and walked
away from it. But this asari wasn't just someone.
Lowering her weapon, Shepard jerked her chin up at
Tela, curiosity in her eyes and a question on her lips.
"What're you doing here, Vasir?"
Tela scoffed at Shepard and her weapon, resisting the taunting laugh that threatened to surface. It was laughable that Shepard would have the gall to point a gun at her after walking away from that fight unscathed.
"I wouldn’t be much of a spectre if I did, now would I Commander?"

Shepard's brow furrowed, suspecting Traynor had
been lost in some part of the war and its effects.
But you know what they say about assuming...
"Just what you were thinking about," she said, half-smiling.
Leaning against the console, the commander folded her
arms and nodded. "Let's have it."
The specialist snapped to attention when she heard Shepard’s voice. She had indeed been lost in her thoughts, so much that at first she heard the commander’s tone but no words. “Everything is…as expected. Was there something you needed?”

"Nor should you. I find myself questioning anyone
who turns down a free drink," she chuckles before
extending a hand. "Eden."
[ Ariana smiles easily. ] "I can’t object to
any part of that.”
