Hooker Furniture Names Hoff President of Hooker Legacy Brands
Over 150 Years of Service to the Furniture Industry Hooker Furniture Names Hoff President of Hooker Legacy Brands p By Nic Ledoux on 2/7/2020 Pictured L to R: Jeremy Hoff and Anne Smith. Hooker Furniture Corporation recently named Jeremy Hoff President of Hooker Legacy Brands, which encompasses all divisions other than those within the mid-priced Home Meridian (HMI) segment, the company announced. Hoff, who most recently has served as President of Hooker Casegoods and Hooker Upholstery, will now oversee Hooker Casegoods, Hooker Upholstery, Sam Moore, Bradington-Young, Shenandoah and H Contract as President of Hooker Legacy Brands. In addition, he will oversee Emerging Sales Channels, including international, designer and e-commerce. “Jeremy’s relationships with our retailers, representatives and vendors, excellent team-building and strategic planning skills, along with his depth of industry knowledge  and experience in both casegoods and upholstery make him the right choice to lead the overall Hooker family of brands,” said Paul Toms, chairman and chief executive officer. The grouping of the company’s upper-mid-priced to lower-upper-priced brands together under one leader will be a win-win for the company, retailers and the consumer, Toms added. “These brands are collectively positioned in the market as a group of high-quality, high-style, high-service businesses,” said  Toms. Noting that all the Hooker Legacy Brands divisions other than Shenandoah and H Contract are distributed through the same sales force, he added, “The combination of these brands under one leader creates synergistic and mutually beneficial partnerships with our retailers, enabling us to more effectively work across many divisions and product lines through the same sales force and management to deliver the levels of service, quality, design and point-of-sale presentation and information that the higher-end retailers and consumers expect.” The appointment comes as Mike Delgatti retired last week from the company after 11 years as a senior executive. Most recently, Delgatti oversaw domestic upholstery – Sam Moore, Bradington-Young, Shenandoah and H Contract – and emerging sales channels. Assisting with domestic upholstery oversight will be Anne Smith, chief administration officer. “Anne will work with Jeremy and each of the domestic upholstery brand presidents to establish goals, strategies and specific initiatives for each business unit, then help those leaders access the resources necessary to execute,” Toms said, adding that she will continue to oversee customer care, corporate human resources and information technology. “During her time at the company, Anne has done a very good job as she has taken on increased responsibility. We are fortunate to have her as one of our senior executives and are confident she can continue to assist the domestic upholstery divisions and H Contract in reaching their full potential,”  he said. About Hooker Furniture: Incorporated in 1924, Hooker Furniture is one of the most respected furniture brands in the world. The company's 2016 acquisition of Home Meridian International (HMI) ranks Hooker as one of the top five sources for the U.S. furniture market. Brooklyn Bedding Announces New Bloom Essential Hybrid
p By Nic Ledoux on 2/11/2020 Brooklyn Bedding announced that it has added a new mattress to the brand’s sustainably sourced Bloom collection: constructed from Talalay Echo foam, the Bloom Essential Hybrid combines all the superior pressure point relief of hyperresponsive latex with the deep compression support of individually encased coils, starting at just $599. Talalay Echo foam is derived through a relatively new process, repurposing unused fabrication cuts to deliver all the increased pressure point relief, durability and breathability associated with latex, while reducing wastefulness. The new material costs less than a comparable Talalay latex comfort layer—that factor, coupled with in-house production at Brooklyn Bedding in Phoenix, Ariz., equates to a high quality sleep that’s less expensive than most sustainable solutions on the market. “The launch of the Bloom Essential Hybrid perfectly aligns with our goal to bring customers an affordable luxury sleep experience, while owning best practices with regard to sustainability,” said John Merwin, Owner and Chief Executive Officer at Brooklyn Bedding. “Every mattress we sell is handcrafted in our state-of-the-art factory in Phoenix where we strive for zero waste. Ninety-nine percent of the raw materials we use, from threads and tapes to foams and coils, are recyclable.” The new Bloom Essential Hybrid by Brooklyn Bedding uniquely pairs Talalay Echo latex with a premium transition layer for enhanced contouring and responsiveness. Sustainably sourced Joma Wool™ and organic cotton are combined in a plush top cover, providing exceptional breathability and moisture wicking, naturally. A six-inch base of up to 961 individually encased Ascension™ coils delivers superior support while decreasing motion transfer. A final base layer of high-density foam adds durability to the mattress while reinforcing individually encased coils as they compress. “We carry an extensive portfolio of sustainable mattresses and sleep accessories,” Merwin said. “They range from the Bloom mattress collection and the EcoSleep brand to Talalay latex pillows, organic cotton sheets, bamboo twill sheets and TENCEL® sateen sheets. The Bloom Essential Hybrid is highly complementary to one of the brand’s top selling beds already in existence—the elite Bloom Hybrid mattress—as well as the total latex Bloom mattress.” Talalay latex has long been recognized for its exceptional comfort, combining unique buoyancy with a higher degree of conformability to the human body; its resilience allows the foam to instantly return to its original shape after compression. The inherently hypoallergenic properties of latex make the Bloom collection a healthier, cleaner, more rejuvenating sleep—top to bottom. The Bloom Essential Hybrid by Brooklyn Bedding retails online between $599 for a twin to $1,199 for a California King. It is offered in a universal medium comfort level. All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses come with a free 120-night comfort trial and a 10-year warranty. The company also offers free nationwide shipping with bed-in-a-box delivery. ABOUT BROOKLYN BEDDING: Brooklyn Bedding is an American made manufacturer of mattresses, differentiated by master craftsmanship, a wholly owned state-of-the art manufacturing facility and exceptional customer service. Family owned since 1995, the company originated with two brothers delivering mattress products direct to customers’ homes. They tenaciously used every material in their inventory to pass savings on to customers, purchasing high grade manufacturing equipment and pioneering bed-in-a-box online delivery in 2008. Today, the company owns world class expertise in mattress engineering, achieved through meticulous attention to detail, cutting edge equipment and patented materials created with advanced technology. Riverside Furniture Shortens Delivery Times with Virginia Warehouse
Over 150 Years of Service to the Furniture Industry Riverside Furniture Shortens Delivery Times with Virginia Warehouse p By Nic Ledoux on 2/5/2020 Casegoods resource Riverside Furniture announced that it has opened a distribution center in Ridgeway, Virginia, positioning the company to better service retailers in the Eastern U.S. Opened in early December of last year, the company expects that the 75,000-square-foot facility will help Riverside cut shipment lead times to retailers in the Eastern U.S. from a current four weeks to approximately 10 to 14 days from the date of order placement to the retailers’ location. The facility will be fully stocked and operational in February, the company said. “Improved service from the new Virginia warehouse is our latest strategic initiative to deliver added value to our customers,” said Fred Henjes, chief executive officer and president. “The Eastern U.S. retailers serviced by the distribution center will realize higher profitability through reduced freight costs, shorter lead times and higher inventory turns through low shipping minimums,” he said. The Virginia facility is Riverside’s second domestic warehouse. The other is based at its headquarters here, said John Iasiello, senior vice president of strategic planning and business development. The Fort Smith warehouse will now focus its service on retailers in the Midwest and Western U.S., he said. The company also has a distribution center in Vietnam, from which retailers “can order direct mixed containers, in as small a quantity as 350 cubes, so that independent furniture retailers can take advantage of the lower pricing of direct containers, along with major retailers.” Iasiello said. The Virginia distribution center is operated by Warren Trucking. Retailers have a choice of receiving immediate shipments if the product is in stock, or sending their preferred carrier to pick up the merchandise within a week, Iasiello said. “We are excited at how the new facility will add a new level of service to our current dealer base and many prospective dealers by offering our best-selling products across all Riverside categories – bedroom, dining, occasional, home office and entertainment,” Iasiello said. “As we ramp up, our goal is a ‘never out of stock’ position on best-sellers.” About Riverside Furniture: Fort Smith, Arkansas-based Riverside Furniture is a leading supplier of high-fashion, mid-priced quality bedroom, dining room, home office, home theater and occasional furniture. Founded in 1946, the company distributes its whole home furniture collections and some 1,000 furnishings items to retailers nationwide.
