stop making excuses for playing hogwarts legacy.
“the people who worked on the game need to be supported tho 🥺”
the people who worked on the game already got their cut and went home. your money is just going towards jkr and the corporation
“but harry potter was my childhood 🥺”
same. but this isn’t revisiting old media. this is an entirely new product. and you’re allowed to grow out of things and move on when the dead horse gets beaten and your media literacy skills improve.
“but i pirated it 🥺”
good for you. was it worth it? is it a fantastic game? is oppressing jews goblins such a delight you’re willing to break the law over it?
“can’t you just let me have fun? 🥺”
if playing a game made by a racist, transphobic, anti-semitic, fatphobic bigot where the entire plot is to defeat the jews goblins because of white wizard supremacy is fun to you then i think you might need to seriously consider why.
if you are playing hogwarts legacy and/or supporting it online you are choosing to value a video game over the lives of jewish and trans people. you are allying yourself against jewish and trans people. if people hate you for choosing a video game over human lives you have no grounds to be upset.
sometimes doing good things and being an ally is difficult. sometimes it means not doing something that you wanted to do. it’s sucks but that’s life. get over it and shut up.

i came across this post and was like "wow this username sounds really similar". I'm pretty sure they follow me on quotev. 💀 but i don't interact with them in the slightest because they've been toxic in the past just in general, not directly to me.
Normally I hate being the bad guy and doing a call out post, because let’s be honest, the OC Fandom is already filled with so much and I’m a very relaxed person that lets too many things pass but I just can’t handle it anymore. Some of you may know that before I began posting my OC content on here that I did it constantly on Quotev and on there is a user that went by the name of Starlight. Ever since 2018, they had not only give me very passive aggressive comments about what I should write and what not to write regarding my stories, and had made very homophobic comments towards my LGBTQIA+ OC Elektra Ren / Bre Solo Skywalker, but they have stolen a vast majority of my Star Wars OC aspects and plot points, tried to rip off my XCU/MCU OC Ripley, and took my OC manip that I created and posted on my pinterest and pasted their own OC over mine. (and yes, I have MANY receipts with timestamps to prove my case.) Their pattern is this: many months after I create an OC, they use the same faceclaim, use a name that’s similar to my oc's—not always, but usually—and gives them aspects and characteristics. At first, I just figured it was by accident but the more and more I noticed that their own ocs were a little too close to mine, that’s when it dawned on me that it was no mistake.
A good example of this is when I first began creating Elektra / Bre. I was going to use Crystal Reed as her FC until my friend on Quotev suggested Alycia over Crystal. I wanted a Kylo Ren twin sister who was in the First Order with him until she realized that she couldn’t go on being on the wrong side of war and leaving him ultimately for the family she left behind but still can’t help but try and help her brother while trying to save her family.
Because of this Elektra dynamic I had going on, they badgered me so much over how poorly I written her character on Quotev that it actually got to the point that I ended up hating Elektra and the story Dead Hearts as a whole. And let me just say that I began writing that story after being on a two year hiatus because I literally lost motivation to write and actually do something with my life other than lay in bed all day. So hearing that type of hateful remarks turned me off.
Next thing I know, a few months after I finished Dead Hearts, Starlight creates a Star Wars OC named Breha Solo Skywalker who is a twin of Kylo Ren’s and leaves the First Order to join the Resistance, and her family. Kinda sounds like Bre’s plot, right? And here’s the kicker; the FC was Crystal Reed.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Kyleigh, a lot of people can have Crystal as a Star Wars OC and name their Kylo Ren twin ocs Breha.” Yeah, I know. I thought that too. Until the other ocs, and more problems, came along …
To summarize … (proof in hyperlinks)
My Shadow Preachers OC Cassius Palpatine is the son of the Emperor and FC was Theo James. I got the name Cassius from using Legends as inspo since Jacen goes by the name of Caedus
They created a Palpatine OC with Theo James.
I updated Cassius’ FC for Shadow Hearts (a revamp / revisit crossover of Shadow Preachers & Dead Hearts) to be Ben Barnes.
An hour later, they create a Star Wars OC with the FC being Ben Barnes and named him Caedus.
I created a Calrissian daughter oc for Shadow Preachers whose fc is Zoe Kravitz whose very witty and snarky.
They created a Zoe Kravitz Calrissian daughter OC.
I created Ripley Maximoff, FC Shelley Hennig, who is a Mutant X-Men with energy manipulation and mentifery; capable of generating time pockets and accidently portals herself into the MCU—more specifically during Wandavision.
Starlight suggested to create such x-men mutant oc with portal abilities that ends up in Wandavision with Shelley Hennig as a “potential” candidate for the FC
I made a Nova & Kylo manip specifically for and on pinterest, the picture next to it titled “it was written in the stars.”
They cut Nova out of the manip, pasted their own OC in and titled it “it was written in the stars.”
They stalked me on there, my pinterest, and my tumblr. I have blocked them but somehow, I believe that they won’t stop.
Again, I don’t like being this person but I rather come out now after years of experiencing this type of slander and borderline harassment if it stops other from experiencing it. If you’d like to block them on tumblr, in the few screenshots I’ve provided, you’ll be able to see their url.
But that’s all I’m saying. Please, do NOT send them hate. I don’t want that type of drama. I just only did this as a disclaimer and to help other prevent this fate. PLEASE, DO NOT SEND THEM HATE. Thank you.

Your comments on AO3 are more powerful than you know.
A comment on a fic more than once gave me the idea or inspiration I needed to add another part to that fic. It helped me to produce even more of the content that the reader who left it enjoyed so much.
A comment on an older fic reminded me that my fics don’t get lost 24 or 48 hours after posting. True, that’s when most fics get the majority of their hits, kudos and comments, so a writer sometimes feels like if a fic hasn’t done well in that time frame, it’s as good as gone. But some people discover and love such fics later on and that’s incredible.
A comment once stopped me from deleting my AO3 account. For reasons, I was feeling really low, like I had no talent and nothing to offer. Like everything I was posting was banal and worthless. And as my finger was hovering over the ‘delete account’ button, a mail notification let me know that someone left a comment on one of my fics. I went to read it and it was absolutely lovely. And it complimented not just that fic, but my writing overall. It helped me get through a rough moment.
Your comments can mean so much more than you know. You have more capacity to do good and help content creation in the fandom, that you and others enjoy, than you realize.
So this is my little note, as an author, to say THANK YOU to all the people who take the time to leave a comment on AO3 or send an ask on Tumblr or write kind words in the tags of a reblog. It all means so very much! <33333

When I say “Fanfiction is free” part of what I’m saying is yes, you did not pay for the thing.
But I saw a comment from someone that made me realize the rest of the intention behind these words is being lost.
Fanfiction is provided for free, but it is not produced for free.
Authors pay their effort, including physical and emotional and mental. Authors pay their time, in planning the story (mental time) and writing the story (physical time). Sometimes it’s less than an hour for something quick and dirty, like askbox prompts. Sometimes it’s years of their lives in epic fic hundreds of thousands of words long. Authors pay additional time to alpha read their own stories, trying to make sure that they’re free of SPAG errors and make sense and sound good. Beta readers pay their time and effort alongside the authors for editing the stories. Authors pay for posting their stories with all of the anxieties that come from allowing their work - which to this point they have invested all of the above - into the public eye because while it has certainly cost them a good amount to produce the story, fandom history has proved that many other people out there enjoy fanfiction, and authors believe that at least someone else will enjoy their story, too.
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is that it costs the writers a lot of something in order to produce it. A lot has already been paid into a piece of fanfiction by the time it is available for readers to read. The expense of fanfiction creation is, by and large, resting squarely atop the shoulders of writers.
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is that readers don’t have to pay the cost of creating fanfiction.
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is that readers don’t have to pay in anything - not time, not money, not effort, not anything - in order for fanfiction to be created. It’s a donation. It’s a gift. It’s available for you to take or leave, at the expense of someone else.
Writers have, for a very long time, requested donations of one thing as remuneration for everything they put into making fanfiction: comments. Authors have asked, in so many different iterations: “If you have consumed what I have labored and invested in to create and if you have found any enjoyment in it, please tell me, so that I can recharge enough to do this again.” Some of them may recharge on critical comments, but most of us don’t because we’ve already paid everything we want to pay to create the story.
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” isn’t just that it doesn’t cost you any money. I am saying “Please respect the time and effort you didn’t have to pay into creating this thing you enjoyed, by respecting the individual creator’s requests.”
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is “be kind to authors, they have paid a lot for this gift they’re sharing with all of us, and they deserve to feel like it was worth it.”
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is “please don’t charge authors more time and emotional effort than what they’ve already provided you at no absolute cost.”
I’m not saying any of this to argue. It’s a fact that authors pay into providing fanfiction. They do it for fun. They do it out of love. They do it because they enjoy writing. No one is making them do it. No one is paying them to start or finish the story. That doesn’t mean it’s not WORK. And the only return they get on what they put into the story is the kindness of strangers that invest a little bit back by leaving a nice comment. That is why they stay, that is why they do it again, that is why we have fanfiction.
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is “please don’t be the one charging authors so much more that they leave.”
What I am saying when I say “fanfiction is free” is “please keep it that way.”

MCU Peter Parker’s Backstory
Since it’s now obvious MCU Spider-Man’s backstory is quite different from the classic version, and that the Homecoming trilogy actually served as an “origin story” of sorts to get the character to a similar place as his more traditional variants, I thought I’d compile my version of his personal history.
Richard and Mary Parker die in a plane crash, as they do in most versions of the story. Unlike in TASM, there is no foul play involved, and the crash is just a freak accident (this is open to change if more info becomes available in the future). Peter is about 2 years old at the time, so his memories of his parents are extremely faint. As far as he’s concerned, May and Ben are his mom and dad.
Yes, Ben does exist in the MCU, but he does not play his typical role. He and Peter are still very close, and Peter holds fond yet faded memories of his uncle. Ben is murdered by a carjacker when Peter is 7, around the time Tony Stark reveals his identity as Iron Man. He longs to be a superhero like Tony so he can save people like Uncle Ben from “the bad guys.” Peter is 8, almost 9, when Tony protects him at the 2010 Stark Expo (as retconned in Iron Man 2), which inflates his admiration for Iron Man to full-on hero worship. Losing Ben so young also explains his eagerness to find a father figure in Tony.
By the time Peter is bitten by the radioactive spider at 15, he has lived through the Battle of New York. He doesn’t need the tragic death of his uncle to inspire him to use his powers for unselfish causes. He grew up in a world of superheroes, and this is what he’s been waiting for his whole life. He remembers watching his Aunt May cry after Ben’s death, and now he has the chance to be like Iron Man and the other Avengers and protect innocent people like his aunt and uncle from experiencing that kind of pain. He’s thrilled to be Spider-Man.
It’s May (and Tony) who takes up the traditional “Uncle Ben” role in MCU Peter’s story. He was born in the New York City of the Avengers universe and raised by May Parker. It was always apparent to him he’d use his powers for good. But he still had to learn what those powers would cost.
