Tuvok and Odo would spend six hours sitting in complete silence reviewing security reports and then go back to their quarters thinking it's great to have such a good working companion.

reblog this and tag with a food you no longer have access to (closed restaurant, state you moved away from, ex’s mom’s cooking, etc) that will haunt you until your dying day, mine are the spicy chicken sandwich on the employee menu at the fine dining restaurant I was a prep cook at, and the onion bagel from the kosher place down the street from my house when I lived in the city
#the chocolate pecan squares from the (now long closed) library cafe at uni#the turkey cranberry slaw sandwich from the italian deli that closed in 2008#my great grandmother's white fig preserves from her garden's tree#heavy on that last one#and really good crab cakes (i have developed a shellfish allergy over time)#i make my spouse order them sometimes and watch them eat it and demand detailed description

Tubi is the best streaming service because it captures the feeling of a video store, but not a corporate video store like Blockbuster, or even a good indie store, but a rundown video rental place under a overpass weeks away from closing down. You'll find, like, 2001: A Space Odyssey next to a unwatchable copy of a 70s exploitation film and a micro-low-budget indie and a movie called STRIPPER VAMPIRE MASSACRE III but you can find no evidence of STRIPPER VAMPIRE MASSACRE one or two existing.
This is a real, commercial streaming service and they've uploaded films with the DVD menu visible for the first few seconds bc it's a recording of a DVD copy. What a titan in the landscape of streaming

the sexiest character in star trek is quark because he goes out of his way to mask his extremely high emotional intelligence and sense of empathy with his scumbag persona, which allows him to navigate social spaces where he can be the most effective. it's just so unfortunate that I was banned from the quarkfuckers discord in 2022 for suggesting that kira and odo should keep dukat as their gimp

Do you know of any movies/shows/books/games set in or directly inspired by your hometown? NOT the nearest major city (unless you truly live in that city ofc) but the actual place you were raised
yes, and I live in a major city
yes, and I DON'T live in a major city
not that I know of
I have no/multiple hometowns or some other nuanced answer

the difference between kirk and sisko is that kirk will do something fucked up and not realize that he just did something fucked up. when sisko does something fucked up it was premeditated and he had 12 moral crises about it but he can live with it. he CAN live with it.

I do think that at some point Donna got a HUGE crush on some random woman during one of her and Ten's adventures and proceeded to be in a mood about it for two days before she realized that she wasn't actually jealous of the woman and instead wanted to kiss her, which then led to a 3-day sexuality crisis during which she avoided Ten completely because she's absolutely convinced he's gay and to her that means he's useless in this scenario because if he's gay he's not attracted to women, so logically he couldn't possibly tell her if she was actually a lesbian or something.
Instead of landing on bisexual or pansexual or something like that, she eventually convinces herself she's straight, except for that one really, really, *really* pretty woman, and she decides that every woman must have a woman crush like that. She tells her daughter about this super casually some time after Fourteen comes to live with them and Rose spontaneously combusts trying to explain that no, actually, not all women do have that.

“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh

Headcanon that Julian had a bunch of “relationships” as a teen with older people just to piss his parents off/to get away from them (because his gfs and bfs in their 20s would have their own place he could stay at...) and that he never really had a chance to learn what a healthy partnership looked like.
And then that Palis was emotionally abusive towards Julian, in a way that he never quite put his finger on...
And that his attraction towards Garak was in part due to the way that Garak felt dangerous to be around. Not because that was new or exciting or thrilling, but because it was familiar.
#star trek#ds9#julian bashir#tw: abusive relationship#holy shit this is so good#very realistic dynamic and i love this character study
