I didn't post a lot but that's because I was busy with something and that something is this

DEVLOG №1

A flawed but solid foundation

To track our progress over our project we decided to do short devlogs, where we briefly discuss the things we did for our small project.

Ren’py

It was surprisingly easy to learn and I think it will be relatively manageable to master. Much easier to make your own VN from the ground up for sure. Despite knowing enough to make 80% of our VN's planned functionality I didn’t grasp even a yip of what this bad boy can do. I look forward to looking at what else it can do, but not now. In my opinion, we should try to keep our project as simple as our ambition allows us.

There’s never enough expressions!

We did around 70 of expressions total!  34 for Al and just 26 for Tristan (But no one stops us from adding more as needed so maybe he will be able to catch up :P)

Besides the general static pose, they have mouth flapping, blinking and other small details that were really fun to add.

Backgrounds is a beast more fearsome than dangerous

After a while of procrastination, I finally started working on my first background! Originally, we planned to just go with 3D renders but we both agreed they didn’t look the best, so we decided to use them as references for painted ones instead. And then we didn’t. For a while. (Comment Choi: Yeah that was my fault tbh) But after a while, I got tired of avoiding that and decided to finally bite the bullet! And… It ended up going much smoother than I anticipated. Having a 3D scene allowed me to skip the pretty lengthy step of the sketch. I just focused on colors and overall look. It may not end up not perfect but I still like how it’s coming out.

That concludes our devlog! Next, we’re planning to add a gallery, work on menus and so much more! Seincerely your
