“...Maybe...” He replied, laughing a bit and trying to hide the quickly rising blush on his face. “Short term memory is not my thing.”

“Dude, did you already forget I have the keys?” She laughed, jingling them.

“Wow and I thought I was the only one.” He stepped back a bit then began fiddling with the lock, trying to pry the door open.

“Don’t worry. Once I ran into a wall and split my lip open.”

Eiji began running, turning sharply to the side and nearly running into the closed door. “Oops. I’m coordinated, I swear.”

“Okay.” Danny said with an excited grin.

“Follow me,” he replied, taking her hand. “I think the door is this way and after that it’s a straight shot out.”

Stopping, she looked around. “Okay uh, I have no idea where to go from here.”

“Perfect,” he laughed, running after her. “I want my stuff back. Hopefully my family won’t get too pissed off about me getting out of here.”

Danny followed, keeping a tight grip on the keys. “I noticed there was a broken window in one of the rooms. We can get out there without getting seen.”

“I think it’s in a locker where the security people keep it. Come with me, I think I saw it once.” He looked back and forth down the hall then sprinted off.

“First I need to grab a couple things outta my bag.” Climbing over the desk once more, she grabbed a set of keys. “Okay where do they keep our confiscated stuff?”

“Really? You think we can sneak out?” Well there didn’t seem to be anyone around so why not? Smiling, he nodded. “Let’s go.”

Exiting out of the page and climbing back over the desk, she looked at him. “Let’s go now then.”

“Yes sir. Vampires Everywhere! is my boyfriend’s band and New Years Day and William Control are some of my best friends.”

“Cool. If we get out soon, I’d love to see them. It’s been a long time since I went to a concert and I miss it.”

“Shh.” She said, sitting down at the computer. Unlocking it, (the nurses never use a password) she quickly began to type. “September 12, William Control, New Years Day and Vampires Everywhere! at Webster Underground. Doors open at 6, show starts at 9,” She read.

He moved behind her so he could see the computer as well. Blinking, he read the sentence again, then glanced at her, the back at the screen. “I’m going to go out on a limb and say those are bands? If not, New Years just got a lot more interesting.”

Reaching the nurses’ desk, she realized there was no one there. Taking a few steps back, she ran at the desk, throwing her body over it. Landing with a loud thump, Danny stood up unfazed. She seemed…. excited?

He climbed over the desk slowly, looking around to make sure no one was coming. “What are you doing?” What was going on? Where was everyone? This was all so strange.

Danny scrambled to her feet and ran out the door, headed towards the nurses’ station. 

He stood and ran after her, confused and concerned. Had he said something wrong?

“No. I- I meant the day of the month.”

“Why? I think it’s the 10th? 11? Something like that.”

[eiji-murata]

hxrror-queen:

“That’s true.” Pausing, she sat up straight, remembering something. “Wait. Waitwaitwaitwaitwait. What day is it today?”

“Umm...I think it’s Thursday. Why? Time sort of melts together in here.”

hxrror-queen:

“McDonald’s after? I could really use some chicken nuggets…”

“I’m up for that. Ice cream too. Gotta remember the sweets.”

“Sure. Where we goin’?”

“Anywhere that’s not here. I was thinking the corner CVS would be a good start. They have cool sugary foods.”

hxrror-queen:

“Yes, I suppose so.”

“You know what, I’m going to sneak out. Today. Tonight. Want to come?”

“That’s concerning,” she laughed.

“Then it looks like I’m in the right place to get all of my concerning crap out.”
