I was thinking about how a lot of the hostility towards the Beatles likely came as an opposition to their popularity, people became annoyed at hearing about them all the time, and over the years of fame and fans going on about them likely drove those without strong feelings towards their music to strongly dislike it instead.
It continues even now with people holding them in extremely high regard which of course means some non-fans will develop almost a hatred for them.
I was also thinking about how this doesn't seem to happen to ABBA, or at least not as noticeably, despite them still being played regularly, talked about and having documentaries made. So i was wondering how and why there was such a difference in attitudes, and i realised
Its probably because they actually made good music.
