ive certainly been guilty in the past, we all have, but.. please take some time to research whatever “monster” youre gonna draw or write into your story…? so many “cryptids” and “generic monsters” are actually specifically cultural stories, spirits etc. ya know. there’re absolutely more than this but off the top of my head:

wendigoag (algonquin spirits, not a cryptid)

golem are jewish, not random creatures

etc etc. just be mindful and aware yall

stop calling will “sassy” he’s not a kid with Attitude he’s a grown man who’s caustic and aggressive and frequently somewhere between tactless and cruel and his ~sassy comebacks are usually just straight up mean if not outright threatening

and even when he’s sarcastic it’s not “sassy”

There is a specific and terrifying difference between “never were” monsters and “are not anymore” monsters

“The thing that was not a deer” implies a creature which mimics a deer but imperfectly and the details which are wrong are what makes it terrifying

“The thing that was not a deer anymore” on the other hand implies a thing that USED to be a deer before it was somehow mutated, possessed, parasitically controlled or reanimated improperly and what makes THAT terrifying is the details that are still right and recognizable poking out of all the wrong and horrible malformations.

is there a single more in-depth characterisation question than “would this character say fuck”? is there anything that gets the core aspects of a character down as well as the question of if and how they say fuck?

#will says fuck but less than you'd think #he swears for a purpose #or if he's around people who swear a lot he'll start to pick it up more but on the whole #it is laser targeted and scathing when he decides to say fuck #headcanons.
