Effy Stonem, twenty-one. To be absent, away, elsewhere. To no longer be existent in somebody’s life. But what if your essence remains? (tracks: effyingstoned)

Effy took a long drag, allowing the smoke to singe her lungs before she slowly exhaled. The subtle pain was a reminder to keep herself quiet more often than not. Subtlety was key. "It's a good place to hide, I suppose. It keeps you out of your own head. What's your excuse?"
"Not even." She muttered, offering, the female a smile before looking away. "What’s your excuse to be out here?"

"Right. And who said there was a boyfriend in the equation?"
“If your boyfriend shows up I’m gonna need to punch him in the face so that I don’t get punched in the face.”

Effy was intrigued by the self-righteousness of the girl before her but was too smug to ask. "Curiosity did kill the cat."
Tilting her head back, she blew the smoke into the air and smirked at her words. “Hardly.” She said, her eyes staring at her, dead of life.

"Do you consider your needs to be of less importance?"
“Maybe not. But it doesn’t really matter what I want.”

"Nothing better to do, really."
"This is some good wine. Luckily my purse is big enough that I stole two bottles instead of just one. Want some?”

"Do you really want to leave?"
”Your boyfriend’s probably going to show up soon. I should get going.”

Effy lit her spliff, keeping her eyes on the trembling hands of the girl before her. "Shit day?"
"Lucky for you—" She noted, tossing the girl the lighter she held in her pocket.

"Nothing too exhausting, I hope."
”Well, well, well—-look who’s just arrived. Now, I think it’s time we have a proper conversation.”

"Don't be so apologetic. I can hardly sleep as it is." Effy smiled, fully aware that he couldn't see it. Her hair was unleashing small droplets of water down her back, causing her to shiver. In the short walk to her car, she managed to get completely drenched.
"D'you like the rain or do you just have an odd death wish?"
"Uh, thanks for picking me up…" Chase trailed off, his clothes still damp and hair still dripping from the torrential downpour outside. It was sometime past 2am, but Chase had just needed to get out of the house. He’d taken his white cane with him, but as soon as the rain had started, he knew he was screwed. Plus, he couldn’t call Landon, unless he wanted to be thoroughly scolded the whole car ride home. "Sorry for waking you up."

"Why do you reckon?"

"You’re my least favorite person."

Effy studied his face, watching the amusement cross his eyes as they ventured into the depths of his own mind. "So, you're a man of basic tastes." She paused, pursing her lips before continuing. "A little havoc goes a long way."
"Or at least that's what I've heard."
Alex thought for a moment before tilting his head to the side, and crossing his arms in front of his chest. “..Usually anything to do with, alcohol, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll” he replied. “Good willing company helps too, eh. Just do reckless stuff.. Raise a little havoc, you know?”

"Mixed powders, primarily. I found myself in a state of disarray this morning." She shifted her weight to the other side of the bed, to make room for her nosy brother. It flattered her that someone cared enough about her.
"What trouble did you sneak your way into?"
"Oh come on eff I’m just fucking with you yeah? What happened last night anyways?" He sat on the end of the bed

"I'd never offer myself up to anyone."
"Especially to the likes of you."
"Really?"
\
"Then why do you think you are here? It’s true that you didn’t make sense most of the night."
