ECL310- Prompt 8
When hash tagging ‘picture books’ in the search bar, I came across a wide variety of different books, posted for different meanings. Authors/artists posting their work and/or illustrations from a picture book was trending, with very little educative related posts which was a bit of a letdown. I did happen to come across a blogger that was directed to wordless books; their creativity within them, conventions and how to use them in your classroom. This blog served a purpose to all teachers, as I know for myself at times I find it hard to put across the message and meaning to students as to why we have wordless books and how they are purposeful. In addition wordless books open up an enriched literacy conversation; wordless books give the students the opportunity to tell the story themselves. It’s a good lesson to have based around the students created their own stories from a wordless picture book and seeing how different everyone’s turns out. The blog URL is http://wordlesspicturebooks-blog.tumblr.com/ , I strongly recommend teachers and future teachers to follow this bloggers writing.

ECL310- Prompt 6
I’ve chosen to watch the video ‘Meet Uluru’s traditional owners’ which goes through an in depth background of the Anangu people and their connection to Uluru and their relationship with the Uluru owners. Its a short clip which will keep students engaged but is very informative given its duration. This video can be used in the front loading literature unit based on the book ‘Introducing Australia’ by Anita Ganeri. This book includes graphics, pictures and maps of Australia and introduces students to whats in Australia, going into depth of what Uluru is and its significance to the country. The video will become a good visual for students to first engage with to see what Uluru looks like visually, rather than through pictures in a book, as well as being introduced to the importance of Uluru and the people connected to it. From this, the book will reinforce these ideas and expand on certain details such as the climate in Uluru, where it is located near and pictures of daily occurrence there.

ECL310- Prompt 3
Whilst on rounds, i taught all the writing units so it gave me the chance to explore different students work whilst having the 6+1 traits of writing in the back of my mind whilst marking. Having grade 5/6, the students were all very tech savvy and loved everything social media/emoji. Working on biographies, we explored different ways biographies can be presented, so i created this social media biography for the students to fill in on a make believe or famous person. As shown above, the student has room to work on their Ideas within this biography, needing to expand on them and give more detail once stating information. Having more detail in their ideas will excite the reader more and engage them in reading the biography. I gave the student verbal feedback as well as written visual feedback on their biography for them to later refer back to. Not pictured on the students work was one of my personalised social media stamps. Safe to say, these were a MASSIVE hit with the students and i look forward in adding more personalised stamps to my marking collection as they excite the students.

ECL310- Prompt 2
I’ve had plenty of opportunities to make some classroom displays over the years at placement. Being in different year levels has helped me create a variety of posters for different learning levels. This one pictured above, I gained some inspiration from Pinterest based around Question posters. I created this for my grade 5′s this year in order to help with their NAPLAN preparation. It was something for them to refer to, to give them ideas on what to write and what to think about.

ECL310- Prompt 1
Growing up I loved reading many different sorts of books although trending in middle grades of primary school was the Goosebump book collection. If you had one of these, you were the coolest and new found favourite kid of the class. These were a series of horror fiction books, that kept me seriously engaged throughout the novel. I enjoyed reading these alone as i found it was the best way for me to take in what was happening in the book. I always struggled taking in information, I used to read words without soaking in the content.
